Thomas dislikes his grandmother, and only tolerates his mother. He prefers Lyre by a mile, and tries to rid himself of his memories with Niniane, as he believes he has no good thoughts of her, this stems from him trying to soothe himself into forgetting Niniane’s tragedy. He changes his name from Scaylum to his wife’s maiden name, to completely cut off his familial ties, he blames his mother for stealing him away from his birth father, and resents her for being unreliable
