also another thing i hate how people have been treating america lately. it feels like such taboo to be from america due to the politics and all of the bad things, when we rarely recognize the good things as well. i think our culture is actually fucking incredible and while most of us read it as hamburgers and football games i actually think that there's something so special in the american traditions of cook-outs and tailgates and the community that develops from these. and parades and state fairs and county fairs and bonfires and city-wide easter egg hunts and community potlucks and prom and watching shitty middle school plays and of course football and hamburgers as well. fuck you and the fact that you only ever associate yourselves with the worst of america. i fucking love attending the county fair every year to eat food with people i dont know. i love singing along to sweet caroline even though its an ass song with hundreds of strangers. i love being so fully a part of a community. i hate my president and my senator and the entire house but i love my neighbor. amen.

I cannot imagine his family's pain. He was a brilliant educator and a good man. It's difficult to imagine my university without him.

Y’know, no matter how hard I try not to compare myself to people I know in real life or online, I continue to let myself feel worse seeing a person’s happy moments on social media. Worse, I told myself maybe, just maybe if person A achieved x in their life, then so can I as I’ve been through a lot but I don’t see any light comes my way. When my mother was here, she told me that comparison is the thief of joy and I listened to her word and continued my day, like how she’s gone, I’m a shell of my former self. Constantly feel jealous and miserable that why I don’t get a happy ending? I tried a few novenas but hardly any success. Sometimes I wonder I felt so laidback or my faith is so small that so many unfortunate things are coming my way? Yesterday, I felt depressed and today I feel worse, despite getting a few laughs from TikTok, I went right back to feeling low. My mental health is already low, just as my menstrual health, what is next for me to feel low? I’m trying my best to be and stay positive but….

Religious trauma is real, and stories about it absolutely have a place. But I’d love to see more stories where a character realizes the harmful version of Christianity they were taught isn’t the same as Christ.

Give me characters who deconstruct abuse instead of faith.

Give me characters who discover a deeper, kinder, more compassionate Christianity.

Give me doctors, teachers, farmers, artists, scientists, and ordinary people who see their work as their vocation.

Give me faith rooted in love instead of fear.

Not every Christian character’s happy ending has to be walking away from God. Sometimes it’s finally meeting the God they were searching for all along.
