I’ve started listening to the book project Hail Mary and frankly there’s no room in the plot of this book for that man everyone seems to be shipping Grace with so I decided to look it up and apparently instead of letting a character not have a romantic interest y’all have yoinked a character out of some kind of Markiplier project

Okay let's see
Shifu sends them to pilot the jaeger protecting the small rift in Nanyang. All goes well until Hailou insists they go investigate a possible second opening in Panhua reef, something big comes out and they fuck up the jaeger and themselves. For years they are stranded and hurt as per canon, plus having been violently ripped from the drift they are both in bad shape mentally. Zhang Ruipu kidnaps Hailou to pilot his own one person homemade pseudo-jaeger and go down a rift mid ocean to bring back kaiju material (for monetary value like the shopkeeper in PacRim, or possibly for Evil Purposes), he does, Haixia follows on his own drift in another to help and fucks himself up enough that he is all but dead (at least mentally). Hailou brings him back and Shifu offers a solution that involves kaiju blood? which works but makes him 300% more susceptible to possession (like in PacRim2) which obviously happens. He ends the story by drifting with a kaiju to save Hailou from being devoured by it, and closing the rift by going through it with it himself?
There definitely needs to be more LouXia drifts obviously, i'm just spitballing. One at the end, that's necessary, with H(e/a)ixia dramatically disconnecting from the drift in the middle to sink and meld with the kaiju and delightfully ripping out Hailou's heart in one go, but I was thinking also in the middle, when Hailou picks him from the ocean with the pseudo-jaegers, he'd try to drift with him to reawaken his consciousness? Desperately trying to force him into it with himself even though it's built for one because they might as well be one single person from how it felt in the drift together and he can't lose this half of himself kinda like in a coffin
