i genuinely believe it is pointless to talk about “compromise” or “common sense” solutions when it comes to gun control. that is because every time a shooting of any kind is widely reported - whether or not anyone dies, whether one person dies or 20, no matter what type of gun was used, and no matter what the motivation was - people cry out vaguely for “laws,” for “gun restrictions,” and for congress to “do something.” they will often say that guns should be banned. they will often ask for anything that would have prevented that particular situation from happening. so it is not about “assault weapons,” it is not about how many guns you can get, it is not about what kind of ammo you can buy, it is not about expanded background checks, it is not about keeping guns away from the “mentally ill,” it is not about a national gun registry. it’s about guns. it’s people being bitter that the second amendment even exists. it’s futile to have a conversation with people who pretend to care about “compromise” but actually don’t believe in gun rights at all. 

Absolute best simplification of compromise. Even a child could understand this.

Compromise means both sides get something out of it. Anti-gunners have no real desire to compromise.
