Doesn’t recognize Ryuu as an employee or an orphan

Takes Ryuu’s locket along with Poppy as an “insurance policy” that she play her games

Leaves the locket with Poppy so it stays safe

Does find Oliver to be cute, but doesn’t piece together right away he is the Prototype

Quietly stalks/watches Ryuu as she makes her way through the factory

Impedes Ryuu on occasion by making walls of spider webs, cackling like mad watching her break through them and freak out getting the webs off

Becomes frustrated with Ryuu when her resolve is restored sometime later

She shudders hearing Stella’s voice at the Game Station

Thinks Marcus was either fired or worse, but Ryuu is surprised to learn there were employees that were unaware about the giant living toys

Not impressed with Jimmy’s marketing strategy; sounds like a total nutcase

Upon watching Log 08502, hearing how smart the Prototype is reminds her of how intelligent Ollie was

Doesn’t make the connection they’re the same as the Prototype sounds too monstrous, even killing someone

Ollie was only ever violent when he needed to be, but never killed anybody

Trivia:

Yes, Marie lives, but how?

Since the Canon Chapter 2 is about an ex-employee, a lot of these two’s interactions are going to be very different, though some of the canon lines will remain

Ryuu not connecting the dots is due to a lot of factors such as ignorance and denial; they were best friends and seeing him in a bad light just doesn’t register

This is the second time I’ve drawn Mommy Long Legs

The locket features an engraved feather.  Feathers symbolize freedom, spirituality, and divine connection.

It took me a long time to figure out a design for it, finally settling on something more simplistic vs complex; I wanna be able to redraw the damn thing

Ryuu hasn’t learned Poppy is Elliot’s daughter yet; this has been kept a secret, even though Elliot told her he had two older kids (he never said what the second child was, and Ollie never mentions her)

She’s never gotten any other Playtime toys after her release, and isn’t a fan of the news, so she is completely unaware of what we know

Has anyone ever seen the movie, Arachnophobia?  That’s where the fear comes from.

I’m still never drawing the Grab Pack

I wonder who tossed Ryuu that photo?  It wasn’t Marie, and it wasn’t Poppy.

With five chapters now posted, I'm feeling quite happy with the attention it's gotten so far...even if momentum has slowed down. I'm doing my best to work on Chapter 6 while also working on the next piece of my PPT AU. I'm trying my best to keep the AU a bit of a slow burn before we carry into the big timeskip of the canon events. Until I get the next chapter up, I hope you guys will enjoy the first five chapters.

Sticks to canon lore, stalking and chasing Ryuu

Discovers Ryuu first after the Hour of Joy while running a recon, but is stopped by Doey when he tries to attack the tank

is very curious of Ryuu

can tell she is different from the other adults, however, he ignores this well, treating her as a threat when she first arrives

is a lot more cunning and aggressive towards Ryuu

was told by the Prototype should she ever come back, to get her to leave by any means as long as she isn’t injured

watches her closely and notices her turn pale when he has the key

tries wrecking all her progress as much as he can, showing off his intelligence

tries to disarm her at certain points either by going for her crowbar or Grabpack

can’t understand how she refuses to hurt him

doesn’t react to the things she says at first, more focused on getting her to leave

starts becoming reckless as Ryuu presses on

is taken aback when she catches him after collapsing the catwalks

becomes affected by her words and her resolve to find Ollie, and even bring him home despite all he’s done to get her out

Huggy is aware that Ollie and the Prototype are the same person, but he can’t reveal this to her

Loosens himself from her grip telling her to just leave the factory (she can understand his sounds; earlier it was nothing but roars and growls with no real meaning)

Attacks Ryuu later on after she falls into the first part of The Labs, chasing her in later areas as well, this time he’s more desperate to get her to leave

Ryuu Lore:

Initially finds Huggy to be sweet and adorable

Becomes horrified later seeing him with a key

Keeps the crowbar on the back of the Grabpack and only uses it once by swinging it from side to side to ward off Huggy; this fails

Tries talking him down but realizes he’s ignoring her completely

Is impressed by his intelligence when she realizes he’s stalking her and ruining her progress

Can’t understand just what Huggy is; why is a giant toy chasing her?

Can somehow understand his roars, screeches, and other noises; blames the Poppy Gel

This means she’d be able to understand other toys with an inability to speak

Tries to save Huggy from falling off the catwalks when she pulls down a large wooden crate

Mourns him when he pulls himself free

“A Tight Squeeze” Lore

Mocks Leith’s lack of a security system as it no longer works

Gets the impression this guy is an asshole

Does NOT like Stella Greyber as she watches the VHS, but it makes her think back to her childhood with Ollie, and she nearly cries looking back at her locket

Cannot fathom what the Prototype is, but she hopes it hasn’t hurt Ollie

When she sees the painted Poppy Flower with the warnings, she recognizes it as Ollie’s work, recalling when he painted her an Azalea Dragon; she ignores the warnings determined to save him

Locates Poppy

Trivia:

This is my first time drawing Huggy and I’m super proud of how he turned out

These upcoming Lores might be shorter than Ryuu and Ollie’s since this is all happening in the “present”; I’m trying so hard not to add in too much with Huggy to avoid spoilers later in the story

I refuse to draw the Grabpack; you will not see it in any of these upcoming pieces

Huggy is said and shown to be rather intelligent and not a mindless beast hellbent on killing the Player

he makes the connection between Ollie and the Prototype when Doey stops him from attacking her in the tank and keeps it a secret so he isn’t killed

There is going to be “Chapter Lore” pertaining to the collectibles and such; it’s how my mind’s organizing things so nothing gets mixed up or confusing

It’s obvious Ollie/Prototype did not expect Ryuu to return to the factory, but decided to make plans in case she did; what the other toys choose to do is not up to him so long as they don’t harm her

Huggy is the only one that keeps not harming her in mind, but all bets are off later in “Broken Things”

Huggy needed more to do than just stalk Ryuu calmly, so now he messes up the puzzles when he can

Huggy becoming reckless makes sense seeing his desperation to catch the Player in “Broken Things”; he’s desperate to get Ryuu to leave the factory

There also isn’t any Likes/Dislikes here since there’s no real point; all Huggy cares about is getting this woman the hell out of the factory, what would liking ice cream do here?

Ryuu Lore:

Age 20 years (delayed from Poppy Gel)

The Incident in 1980 caused a fatal injury, leaving Ryuu in a coma

An older boy wanted her and got into a fight with Ollie while she was taken to the playground

Elliot tried and failed to defuse the situation

In order to save her, Elliot placed her in a tank filled with Poppy Gel (the same kind used for Ollie and Poppy)

While the healing factor took effect, he didn’t expect the gel to slow her metabolism to a near halt similar to what’s seen with a reptile or amphibian

This would only slow the healing process

The gel would also slow her aging; she would still be 10 by the time she’s discovered

She was discovered after the Hour of Joy, after 15 years in the tank (this will be explained, I promise)

Ollie, now The Prototype, sets her free, wrapping her in a puffy blanket, and leaves her far outside the factory with a photo, one of her plushes, and the bracelet she made for him; he had kept her necklace when she was in a coma

This is the only time he sets foot outside the factory

Aside Preston and Sawyer, Ryuu is the only one he truly spares, believing she’ll lead a better life without him

Has gone through three foster families, the first two unable to handle her; the third has their own ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) child and decided to take her in

Despite the changes, she chooses to keep her maiden name when she’s old enough because she finds the actual flower pretty; and would her friend remember her if she changed her surname?

Was properly diagnosed with AuDHD in the late 1990s

She fully remembers Oliver and all he taught her, though some memories are still fuzzy; she has forgotten his voice

Had the photo turned into a locket

Graduated high school, has decided to hold off college until she’s rescued Ollie, and decides what she wants to do

Looks at her locket frequently (with the exception of dealing with Mommy Long Legs) for strength

The one side effect she has from spending 15 years submerged in Poppy Gel is the vivid/lucid nightmares she frequently gets.  She is on medication for them, but one in particular gave her the drive to return to Playcare.

Doctors are amazed she isn’t suffering from anything else, after testing the sample that was stuck in her hair

Poppy Gel has given her better endurance and stamina, but she is gravely susceptible to Red Smoke

Returns to the factory in order to rescue her best friend

Chose a specific date to launch the rescue

With help, she owns a house and a Toyota RAV4

Rents a Toyota Sequoia in case she leaves the factory with more than just Ollie

Her main weapon is a crowbar

Even when she obtains a Grabpak, she keeps her weapon just in case

Tries her hardest not to hurt a single toy unless she absolutely has to

Fending off the Critters with flares doesn’t count since they’re uninjured

Whacked Yarnaby with the crowbar once…and only once…big mistake

Is more than relieved to hear Ollie’s voice over the phone

Does not give in to him pushing her away, but does push to try and reconnect

Is beyond devastated when she is tricked into thinking The Prototype was Ollie the whole time, having a massive crashout when she arrives in the Outimals Lair

Her resolve is challenged the most when she encounters Sawyer in the Prisons

The entirety she is on this level is a tug-of-war

Regrets never telling Ollie she liked-him liked-him as a kid; she never figured out how to say or express it

Basically an adult that thinks and acts like a child; part due to her AuDHD, part not letting go of the past not wanting to move on without Ollie

Likes: Ollie, her locket and the photo, her RAV4, lots of 80s and 90s music (Backstreet Boys being a heavy obsession, most songs making her think of Ollie; also loves Def Leppard), hanging out at the mall (spoils herself with pretzels), cartoons, Disney movies, her freedom, video games, animals, arts and crafts

Dislikes: Playtime Co, having been away from Ollie for 25 years, leaving Ollie behind and moving on without him, rap and country music, her disability, her freedom, bullies

Ollie Lore:

Age 10 years (essentially held back from proper aging)

Refused to leave her side when she was in a coma; Elliot gives him 5mins when he continues to refuse leaving, he confesses to Ryuu he likes-her likes-her, and gives her a kiss on the head

Was forced to live in his original room before meeting Theodore years later; his escape attempts had ceased for years until he found a new resolve in Ryuu’s honor

He still has never met Poppy until Elliot’s death

Poppy has tried to reach out to him, only to be chased away with his outbursts through the door

Refused to even speak to Elliot after Ryuu’s “passing”, only going to him when needed

Discovers Ryuu in a tank of Poppy Gel after the Hour of Joy

He sets her free wrapping her in a blanket and leaving her outside the factory to be found

Was left with a photo, a plush, and the bracelet she made him while he kept the necklace

Thinks she’ll lead a better life without him

Felt his ultimate goal was met when he released Ryuu, so now there’s nothing more to lose

Is heartbroken when he sets her free, but he knows it’s for the best

He does keep one photo of her on his person at all times (no one but Preston and Doey know)

Rushes to save her from Sawyer when his attempts to keep her from facing him fail

A child that tries to think and act like an adult; hasn’t been able to move on since losing Ryuu twice

Was told she had died when Elliot decided to put her in the tank

His mourning was further disrespected when Ryuu’s room was dismantled to make room for other orphans

Dislikes: Elliot, Sawyer, Playtime Co, battling Ryuu’s resolve and stubbornness, Ryuu being reckless, her uncovering the truth of the factory, her discovering his truth

Trivia:

I’m reaching with the Poppy Gel for Ryuu’s predicament.  I’ve looked up what it can do, what it can cause, what it actually does to keep the toys alive.  However, since it’s essentially in its infancy by this point and hasn’t been touched until Leith came to power, I’m going to assume it isn’t half as dangerous as it becomes later.

As for her long submergence, Leith and Sawyer are to blame.  I don’t want to reveal too much as of this, I’m working on the fanfic at the same time, which will go more in depth of these tidbits.  Grain of salt for now.

The help Ryuu has for her house and even her vehicle comes from her third foster family.  They were able to adopt her and they adore her.  She is still close with them, but is currently trying to find herself as she launches her rescue.

Preston will play a vital role for Ollie

Oliver is filled with rage and regret and is terrified of Ryuu learning what he is and what he’s become

I decided to give Ryuu a weapon because let’s be honest, in real life, that Grabpak is going to be useless where a crowbar will be useful…such as smashing Sawyer’s screen in

I know Preston wasn’t totally spared as he was turned into a mute and immobile toy made of various parts, but to Oliver, it’s a sparing; Sawyer we all know why

While the main lore has the toys stuck inside the factory because of Oliver’s word, him bringing Ryuu outside to be found by someone speaks volumes of his care for her

If you’ve watched “Hey Arnold”, you know where “like-you like-you” comes from; they are kids, they never fully understood what they were feeling until it was too late.  Ollie will still never admit it, but Ryuu…will she?

I’m not gonna lie, my heart broke a bunch of times drawing Ollie hurting like that

Ryuu may know how to defend herself (maybe not as well as Ollie could), but her bark is worse than her bite; getting her to attack at all takes quite a lot of pushing, unless it’s self-defense

Sawyer would be the main recipient of such on onslaught; Yarnaby is self-defense

Ollie is still 10 here.  My theory after watching playthroughs, listening to his specific cassette tape and corresponding VHSs as the Prototype, paying attention to his speech patterns, he really is still just a child trying to talk and act like an adult.  I feel the others are in the same boat, given how they all talk (with the exception of Lily; she’s an adult who regressed a bit) and act.  Staying trapped in all this trauma for so long wouldn’t allow any of them to age properly, wouldn’t allow them to grow how we think they would.  That’s my understanding anyway.  Trauma’s a bitch.

Ryuu’s increased endurance and stamina only means she can take some beatings and last longer than most, but isn’t overpowered; she still gets exhausted, she still feels the pains.  Smack her with a bat, and her bones will still break.

Why did Oliver leave a photo with Ryuu?  All will be revealed.

Oliver and Ryuu 1980 14hrs 48mins Base Used: Nyarnyarbon

Got to move in with Ryuu when she received her own room

He was uncomfortable at the thought since he is a boy and she is a girl; this would be rectified with separate beds and a Changing Room he rigged up

Ryuu somewhat spoils him with her affection, but she is still very shy about it

With help, she has made him an adjustable bracelet for their 1yr anniversary; it matches the necklace he made her for her birthday

Doesn’t have as many check-ins with Elliot

Always helping Ryuu with something, mostly school-related; still helping her navigate her AuDHD

Has been able to make some friends with the other kids, and has gotten better at reading people (more for Ryuu’s sake)

Was able to save Ryuu from being kidnapped by her birth parents in 1977 after she was made a perma resident

Held his own well until he suffered a dislocated leg; this would cause Ryuu to try and protect him

Tries to teach Ryuu self-defense, but she doesn’t want to accidentally hurt him

Has a “Goodnight Dance” to one song almost each night with Ryuu

Has been able to keep secret from Ryuu what he really is (a toy); she has only seen his arm and leg “prosthetics”; she thinks they’re cool

Ollie has spoiled her with all his affection, having been able to find ways to celebrate their anniversaries and her birthday

Ollie made her a necklace on his own for her birthday, using very carefully selected beads and small pendants

Has been able to make friends with the other kids with Ollie’s help; she still has trust issues

was almost kidnapped by her birth parents in 1977 after she was made a perma resident during an Adoption Visit at Playcare

they had broken out of prison and disguised themselves well

Ollie was able to save her at the cost of a dislocated leg

They reveal how much they seemed to delight in “beating the demons” out of her

Is trying to learn self-defense, but she doesn’t want to accidentally hurt Ollie

Slow dances to one song before bed almost each night with Ollie; calls it a “Goodnight Dance”

Sang “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor to Ollie when he was recovering from his dislocated leg; he eventually joined her

Still has thoughts of escaping Playcare one day with Ollie, not wanting to wait until she’s of age

Has been assigned counselors, but neither of them can get a good bead on her in order to aid her

They claim she doesn’t listen and is “too hyper”

Ollie has forged letters in Elliot’s name to get them to stop; she’d return to Home Sweet Home upset after the appointments

Likes: Ollie, Bron, Candy Cat, arts and crafts, animals, singing and dancing, cartoons, Disney movies, the few friends she has, seeing off the kids that get adopted, the necklace he made, teasing Ollie on occasion (she’s not great at it), the night sky setup he made

Trivia

This is a 4 year timeskip from 1976 – 1980.  These two have had more than enough time to deepen their bond, but they still don’t realize they’re soulmates at this point.

They’re still afraid to admit how much they like each other

I decided against adding their respective hand-made jewelry to make things a little easier on myself; I also have no design ideas for them currently

It was discovered via out-of-bounds that Ollie had his own room at Playcare, so it wouldn’t be too farfetched that Ryuu gets her own

“Tickle Fights”?  It was the only “punishment” Ollie could think of; most people turn to anger and yelling, and he’s seen that all it does it shut Ryuu down

Ryuu’s new dress and shoes, while the same style as before, now have different colors for symbolism; the flower is a huge symbol

Why the same style?  Ollie knows Ryuu likes it.

Oliver not aging is going to be a key component for later

I had a different dance base in mind, but I wasn’t able to download it

This was my first time using a base in years that I was able to build up from scratch (see my BlueSky)

If it isn’t obvious, Oliver is all about protecting Ryuu; he’s learned how strong her heart is and wants to keep it that way

The Incident mentioned takes place between Ryuu’s birthday and their 4 year anniversary

Ollie forging letters in Elliot’s name wouldn’t be too implausible given his high intelligence

Ollie Lore

Age 10 years old

As of now, is unable to age

Received his first upgrade (hands and legs) after a few months of creation

This fueled his desire for freedom leading to numerous [failed] escape attempts, learning the layout each time

Encountered Ryuu in a “spooky trash room” one night and convinced her to follow him, not wanting to leave her

Made the choice to stay with Ryuu in Playcare becoming friends

Updated his attire, removing the poppy flower buttons for heart-shaped buttons, in a way distancing himself from Elliot and his factory, as well as the promise of meeting Poppy

Also replaced his bow with an ascot and a heart-shaped broach; part of it was Ryuu accidentally ruining the bow

Likes: making Ryuu laugh, coming up with various games to play, puzzles that would throw off adults, dancing and singing, art, learning other languages, sewing (mostly making things for Ryuu); he is an incredible dancer and won’t hesitate to show off

Dislikes: anyone making Ryuu upset (peers and adults alike), the thought of Ryuu being adopted, a particular Ms. Delight, Elliot, Playcare, his picture being taken (but does it for Ryuu), Pinnochio

A total goofball by nature, his anger is subdued being around Ryuu, allowing his true personality to surface; he does have moments where she frustrates him, and he can get cocky at times

Enjoys challenging Ryuu to break out of her shell

Learns of Ryuu’s disability (later to be AuDHD [this is the 70s]) and strives to help her learn to navigate it

Has adjusted Ryuu’s shoes to have snaps as she struggles to learn to tie them; he is unable to teach her as his boots don’t have laces

Becomes very protective of Ryuu

Has to have check-ins with Elliot on occasion

Elliot has tried separating him from Ryuu, which only sours their relationship

During the Adoption Day Event, he was locked in his room and unable to find a way out

He would later be reunited with Ryuu

He dreads the day Ryuu learns he is not a regular boy, so he tries to come up with lies such as having prosthetics (his whole body is robotic in nature, save for visible muscles and tendons)

Even though he doesn’t need food, he does eat and drink around her to pull off a façade (let’s not think about this too hard)

Ryuu Lore

Age ~6 years old

Became an orphan around 1976; while she doesn’t fully understand why, the real reason is [REDACTED]

She has AuDHD (Autism/ADHD), but this would not be diagnosed properly for years

Quickly started to loathe Playcare by not being able to go “outside-outside”; this would fuel her desire to escape

It was also her birthday when she was left at Playcare

Encountered Ollie one night in a “spooky trash room”, and hesitantly followed him, unsure if he’d abandon her like others have

Started trusting Ollie when she woke up the following morning seeing he stayed with her, quickly becoming friends

Often retreats into her shell when bad things happen and has a difficult time coming back out; Ollie is working with her on this

Surprised each time Ollie defends her from their peers and adults; no one has ever done this before

Used to be outgoing and bubbly, the now shy and quiet Ryuu is challenged in ways she’s comfortable with, her true personality surfacing bit by bit through Ollie’s games

Isn’t very brave and doesn’t know how to defend herself, but does become protective of Ollie when others try picking on him

Has a Pink Panther plush and a Marie the Cat plush

She has a rocky relationship with Elliot as even though he tries to help her when needed, he has also tried to separate the two, which only lead to catastrophic results (in his mind)

Elliot tried to get her adopted during one of the Adoption Days, but she avoided everyone like the plague

He would encourage her to join the others, only to have a plush thrown at his face (not hard), to the other parents’ horror at a “violent child”

This to him would be a catastrophic failure

She would be reunited with Ollie

Knows Ollie is very different from other kids, but can’t think of why

Likes: being with Ollie, arts and crafts, playing games, animals, Bron, taking photos with Ollie, playing with the bells on his hat, some music and dancing (zero coordination), cartoons, Disney movies

Dislikes: Playcare, the possibility of being adopted, being an orphan, school (especially a particular Ms. Delight), bullies, herself for being different, her birthday, being left alone, when Ollie gets cocky (can shut him down in ways that results in him chasing her)

Trivia

Since it’s a self-insert, I have made myself older (born 1990) in order to fit the canon lore

Yes, I have AuDHD

The dress worn is based off two things: my favorite phoenix t shirt (that was ruined by a bully) and the fact I used to wear dresses all the time (especially a Snow White costume)

Since we don’t know all of Ollie’s story, like the rest of the fandom, it’s straight headcanons mixed with canon lore

Ollie’s full body design was a challenge as I wanted it to be different from other artists, same with his footwear; everyone has a similar consensus for the footwear, but various pants designs, with some being rather similar to what I have; the top half I wanted a bit of variation from his OG (also, the ascot’s staying, f-ck bows)

This also accounts for his face; most the fanbase has similar design choices for his cheeks, either being blushed or spirals; I took it a step further with a painted smile (slight inspo from Kefka)

The artists used for inspiration are: Random Channel Ketelin (YT), manni_baashful (IG), birdie_bonnet (IG), sh8dez (IG), and Whitney Miller (concept art)

The “particular Ms. Delight” mentioned is going to based off various teachers that were not good to me

Ollie’s heart buttons and broach colors have a meaning: turquoise for balance and healing, and magenta for balance and optimism.  This is for the fact both kids are learning to heal being with each other.  His boots being magenta is to help the broach stand out and to break up his color scheme; they’re also based off NiGHTS.

For Ryuu’s hair, I usually stick with the red and black color scheme, but I decided to use a dark grey with teal; I also use red eyes, but decided to try and get a blue as close to mine as I could

I’m also giving her leggings as a design choice

Neither Ryuu or Ollie can admit how much they actually end up liking each other as time goes on because they don’t understand what they’re feeling; all they know is they like each other and are nearly inseparable
