Ryder McBaine

“I don’t really wanna kiss anyone.” 

(She is too proud to admit things so I’ll do it for her. She would kiss Ryder, Tiffany, Gina, and Sage as of present.)

Ruby looked over at him with curious eyes. She felt like they were both sort of out of place, and even though feeling that way wasn’t very fun, finding someone else who shared that feeling was nice. She nervously pulled at her fingers, not because he was making her uncomfortable, but more because she didn’t want to do or say anything to scare him away. Nice was something that didn’t usually stick around Ruby, and he was nice. She blinked surprised as he told her this was his first date on the island. Her brows pulled together. He was certainly handsome and charming, how could she have been the first person he had gone on a date with? “Really?” She said as she flushed and chewed the inside of her cheek. “Well…um…I’m just a little odd I guess. I-it typically takes me a while to warm up to people. And I just um,” she rubbed the back of her neck. “I just don’t want to be with anyone who isn’t going to take their time with me.” She explained wondering if that sounded strange at all. “I’m actually not all that easy to talk to,” she scoffed. “I actually think most people find me intimidating.” 

Sasha breathed lightly in relief at what he said, “Oh yeah? Okay well good, I think I’d be too curious not to ask everyone and I don’t want that to be something that annoys people.” she admitted. “What kind of supernatural people did you grow up with?” Part of her wasn’t sure that her time would go quite as fast as his here, but if all the people she met were friendly like him then maybe it would. She never had much trouble making friends, she just had to get used to things here was all. “It was kind of amazing to find out I could go completely for free, and I probably should’ve guessed there was some kind of catch I know. But a degree would help a lot, and I want to study music for real and get better at it. So I think it’ll be all worth it. At least I hope so.” She glanced up at him while she walked, “Are you a professor or student here? Or do you work for the school?”

Being human here, usually meant Ryder was looked down upon. He didn’t really care much when others thought poorly of him. But it was nice to be appreciated for his species. It also didn’t hurt to find someone else like him. “She’s a succubus,” he started. Ryder wasn’t even sure she knew what was one, or worse, she’d think poorly of him or her sister because of some stereotypes. Not that Sage tried to buck those unfair assumptions about her species. “I don’t know if her species are rare or not. But I do know that they’re harmless, or at least she is. It’s not in their nature to want to hurt others, even humans,” he added. Again in hoped of trying to let her know that not all supernaturals were out to get her. “Oh I’m a professor here. Weight training and nutrition. One of the vew limited things I’m qualified to teach,” Ryder joked. 

Ruby looked over at him and smiled. She was glad she had met someone so easy to talk to. She wasn’t really used to having someone who made it easy for her, she was usually more quiet or awkward. And although she was a little nervous, it was in a way that made her want to be around him more. So she could combat the awkwardness and learn him better. His attempt at flirting made her bite back a smile. She felt a rosy hue creep across her cheek and a small laugh escaped her lips. “Well surprisingly I don’t have a problem in that general department.” She laughed and looked up at him. “I don’t typically date, I just…I’m a little shy I guess.” She shrugged her shoulders before glancing away. His next question startled her at first, but once she realized he was joking the smile slipped back on her lips and she shook her head. “No, I said yes because I wanted to. And if you wanna ask again. I think there is a good chance I’ll say yes.” She nodded as she tilted her head to the side slightly.

“And what interests me is sex, food, football and making trouble for everyone I come across,” she teased, grinning up at him. Despite her playful response, Sage was absorbing what Ryder was saying, as she usually was. Just because she wasn’t being serious, didn’t mean she wasn’t listening. When Ryder reiterated what she’d said herself in regards to his ‘type’, Sage nodded. “Yea, exactly. See? I do know your type, big brother,” she chuckled, nudging him as she moved past him to go flop onto his couch. “Besides if you wanted a female version of yourself, I’d be a little concerned. Because I’m the female version of you,” she laughed, shaking her head. “No, I think you’d get bored of dating someone too much like you. And it’s fun to be with people who are into different things, y’know? So they can show you new stuff and you can try it together. See? I’d totally hook you up with someone amazing. Ye of little faith, Ry, you should trust me more.” 

Ruby squared her shoulders a little, she felt her guard coming up, although she wished it didn’t. She knew she closed herself off a lot. She was good at putting on a front, she was good at keeping people at arms length. But she didn’t want to do that with him. She looked up at him, her almost a deep evergreen. “You don’t have to be sorry,” she said softly. “It just is.” She shrugged looking up at him, studying his face carefully. She smirked a little as she chewed her lip. “I did make a good bartender. But…I’m happy I finally stood up for myself. I think it’s important, to learn how to say what you want.” She said in a gentle voice as her gaze found his again. He had such lovely eyes, Ruby was a little nervous if she looked at them too long she might lose her train of thought. “Yeah?” She laughed looking down at her own hands as she shrugged. However the conversation got deep again. “They are manipulative, they know how to get what they want, and are good at it. It’s kind of their own art form. And they never care who they hurt.” She spoke softly, wondering what he thought of her now.
