“Well, I vote you for to keep doing it, but that’s just me.” Nick grinned widely, leaning back comfortably as he sipped on his coffee. “I think they just felt bad that some random dude tried to hit me over coffee. Plus I’m a regular and they like me.” He tilted his head toward her, nudging her with his shoulder. “We can try to make a scene for free coffee some time.”

“You just want to see tits,” Ryan teased, an amused accusatory glance passing over her face. “I know guys like you. Annnd...” She took a sip from her coffee, breaking into a grin. “I love each and every one of them.” She thumbed the lid of the cup until it popped open and she abandoned it on the table. “What kind of scene did you have in mind? I doubt they’d believe I could kick your ass, and you’d get arrested if you threatened to kick mine.”

“I went out for my regular morning coffee and this dude tried to cut in line in front of me. I told him to get out of my way and go to the back of the line, so he called me a jackass and threatened to, and I quote ‘punch my fucking nose off my face’, at the top of his lungs. Long story short, he was escorted out and I got my coffee for free. I’d call that a nice way to start the day.”

“Seriously?” Ryan leaned in, intrigued. “I normally have to flash my tits to get something for free. All I need to do is get threatened in front of someone else? Dude, I’ve been doing it all wrong.” She glanced at her own (biodegradable) cup of now lukewarm chai, considering. “I dunno, or maybe I just need to stick with you.”
