Voices to create a publication of 2nd year Graphic Design students at Liverpool John Moores, of Making the Voice Visual. Consisting of three concertina's, 3 pieces of work selected for each speaker of each brief. All students work changed to black and white with the only colour being either pink (1.1), orange (1.2) or blue (1.3). On the back of each concertina is an alphabetical code of the rest of the students work that wasn't shown in the chosen three on the front (all in one colour also). The publication was set to a very specific grid design throughout.
Finally got around to photographing these properly, I changed the sizes and format of the type- making it cover the entire envelope.
(with examples of only two of the backs, because somehow I forgot to photograph the 1st envelope [?!] so I’ll be back in the studio again soon.....)

SWISSTED
A collection of great Swiss Modern poster designs. via August de los Reyes
Morning has broken and Side by Side has spoken with this awesome project called Sainsbury’s Food Typography. Made by the designers Dave Greasley & Oliver Booth, who show what can happen when two ideaful designers plan to make something together.
For each design they wanted a connection between the type and the ingredient. They created bespoke lettering and sourced all props and backgrounds, meaning a good few hours rummaging around antique shops. Enjoy it!
Sainsbury’s Food Typography was originally published on Typostrate

PART 2
I’ve applied my ‘Series of Distortion’ to handmade envelopes (a reference to Christopher Nolan’s Following, and the how the character Cobb says “everyone has a box” - applying this to an envelope with his idea of ‘keeping something safe’). Inside are notes, words he says in the film also, the third note being the match to the first envelope.
Not sure about the size of these, and I’m thinking of covering the entire envelope in type...

PART 1
A series of distortion.
The collision from a clip from The Conversation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoaFl_D0S8w 4.33-6.42) and the voice of Cobb from Christopher Nolan’s Following.
Missing vowels throughout imitating the Cobb’s desire to ‘show people what they had’ - through means of a broken sentence.
Craig Ward / Glitch Typography
I’ve been looking at distorted typography and I came across anamorphic typography. I found online that this existed in Liverpool one, so obviously I went on the hunt for it..
Face Reality as it Is, by Thomas Quinn
The art form is called anamorphic typography. As Quinn says:
For what it is worth, I certainly didn’t invent this sort of effect, and I’d like to give lots of credit to this project by Joseph Egan and Hunter Thompson for tipping me off to the idea, as well as the artist Felice Varini.
Here’re Quinn’s web site, and Vimeo page.
