If The World Falls To Pieces (At Least I'll Be With You)
Poland will be liberated, then Fingon and Majdros will marry – that was the plan. But now Fingon is a fugitive and Majdros imprisoned in a mental institution. Fingon must get him out, that was never a question. But this will not be easy. And then, they will have to escape the only home they ever knew.
Read on AO3.
My Polish Historical AU series, set after the November Uprising (1830s), officially started, with a brief prologue to the first installment – I'll be sharing more chapters as I post them. The story will feature bisexual Fingon, the rescue of (transmasc!) Maedhros, and exploration of the queer characters' complicated relationship with their culture and religion. The November Uprising and its aftermath are very mythologised in Polish historical narrative... but neither Fingon nor Maedhros, despite fighting in the uprising (Maedhros dressed up and that's what led to his trans awakening) will ever fit into the national archetypes. That said, it will not all be misery and sadness!
If you're surprised by "Majdros" – some of the names are slightly changed to make them better fit the characters' respective native languages, since cultural backgrounds are important here.
This is the song that inspired the title:
Full tags under the cut, because there's quite a lot (including CWs, this is not a darkfic but has some heavier themes):

A very belated fill for @russingon-week 🩵
Summary:
Stepping back, Fingon raises a brow, and there, now, is the blaze of him—chin tilted proud, and a storm in his eyes. “This is unbecoming, Russandol. Own what you did; fight me like you mean it.” This is not what I have come for, he ought to say. He ought to lower his weapon, surrender, apologise. His jaw hurts with the force of his restraint, and across from him, Fingon grins—a jagged thing, beautifully awful, and as ever, still, too convinced of his own sanctity. — Maedhros returns. He and Fingon handle it the way they do most things.
Hi here's the (a?) person speaking about delayed submissions. I posted the beginning of my Russingon long-shot. Is it still ok to send it?
Of course! Just make sure to tag us @russingon-week (don’t forget the hyphen) so that we catch it because we’re not monitoring the tag as closely anymore – we can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with! :)

Summary:
But how could they ever think to sleep on a night such as this? Their hours together are already so short, and in these days of encroaching darkness they only grow shorter. Tonight Fingon’s bed is warm, and Fingon is also, and Maedhros is loath to close his eyes even long enough to blink. *** Maedhros, Fingon, and their final night together before the Nirnaeth Arnoediad.

My delated entry for @russingon-week 2026 Day 5: FIRE, under prompt: Explicit and heated fanworks. Meeting challenge: 🔥 Remix (with permission!) another author’s work.
By the King’s Leave
By Ethele_Feanarion(@anahrive) Rated E Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Work base on The Once and Future King chapter 48 Gift to: BattyRae, because thank you is never going to be enough for your amazing fic, and the permission to write from it.
“Say dear, what part is the one that fire you so?” when the hand relent his hold he open again his eyes, finding a really alluring Maedhros, pupils dilated, clearly enjoying himself; with ease he was turn around, feeling how very affected the other was as the length of arousal press hard against his backside, “The fact that I said that I love you directly?” a shiver pass him over, the voice husky with desire, he was made to take some steps forward, as those lips ravish his neck not giving him enough air to even think clearly, “or that I called you mine?”
The bed stop his legs, knees pressing in the rim of the mattress; but Maedhros did not let him fall forward, the arm that was around his chest tighten the pressure while the sneaky hand that had been working the laces of his tunic found a path directly down his leggings cupping him skin to skin. Groaning wantonly he buck into the hand, but was left wanting as it had suddenly release him, hand coming to rest on his belly, nonchalant. “Russo!” he hissed the name with frustration.
“Answer me, your majesty.” Nibble fingers tugged at his clothes, and the words were whispered to his ears, just barely before that mouth went back to lick and nibble at it, incredibly arousing as his lover flicked the sensible tip with his tongue. Rolling his hips he felt again how very affected Maedhros actually was, the hard cock pressed against his butt twitch with the attention. Short-lived pleasure, as only the right arm kept the contact, his husband separated his body enough for him to feel suddenly empty, he fixated his eyes on the hand that was now just barely over his body. “I am waiting.”
He adored the playful sing-sang tone that his husband sometimes got, it had not been there for a while; it made him tremble to have evidence of how pleased Russandol was with himself, how every secure he must feel. “Yours.” his voice was rough, no longer only desire grasping his throat, but a feeling he had been coming around since the day Russandol showed the Silmaril to him, stronger today more than ever, joyful hope.
“Hmmm, is that so?” the weight came against his back once more, and a tongue licking slowly over the rim of his ear; all his senses felt on edge, never before had that action felt so overbearing, forcing him to close his eyes, the best he could do to control himself.
The rich fabrics of the tunics slide from his frame, finding the floor as Russandol manoeuvre his body easily, a thing that he had learn to allow after the rescue; for it was really not his nature, specially not after the Helcaraxë. The playful hand was now inside his trousers, leaving fire paths as the fingers playfully caress the sensitive skin that connected leg to torso, gracing butterfly contact to his testicles. I love you, the words said via ósanwë were wrapped with the distinctive acknowledgment of the previous concession.
Attempts to give an answer got lost fast, for the tantalising ministrations on his body had him panting hard; instead his hands came to life, one finding anchor on the handless wrist over his chest, the other reaching to tangle on the curly ginger hair. The groan that resounded on his ear only grew deeper when his fingers started tracing circles against the scalp. But the hand inside his undergarments was only teasing, the level of temperance that Maedhros had was beyond him, so he added more intention to his patterns, force enough that will be pleasurable and still making his husband relent some restraint.
Maedhros moan into his neck and finally the hand close around his cock, and work him slowly, it was rough which serve only to fuel him further. “Do that again,” the breathless tone of voice had him shivering, his hips were already moving without his consent, answering the low tempo his husband had on him “my King.”

Hindsight
inspired by @tanoraqui's doomed post, and just in time for @russingon-week
After three days of restless council, of willing the minds of their allies as the wind persistently beckons the treebranches to bend its way, the king’s hall in Barad Eithel falls frighteningly silent.
Crowded about the long tables, they have been vortexed into a cruel parody of Fingolfin’s long-ago Feast of Reuniting. Lords of the Noldor and Sindar, elders of the Laiquendi, kings of the Dwarves from Ered Luin, chieftains of the Edain and Men from the east, as many differences between them as the stars in the sky, all now beleaguered by the same colossal decision — endure each within their strongholds for as long as they might, or challenge the Dark One in open battle. King Fingon waits, daring to breathe, and no more.
A chair scrapes the marble floor. Careful the dragging may be, yet it shoots through the quietness in terrible dissonance.
“My king,” Maedhros addresses him as he stands to tower above the council. “May I add one last drop to the filled chalice of our thoughts?”
He holds Fingon’s gaze with that terrible tenderness embalmed by intensity; it lodges itself as a shard between the king’s ceremonial armor and flays him open.
“By your summons we are all gathered here, lord Maedhros. It is only right that we hear your counsel last before we seclude our minds to the solitude that judgment demands.” Fingon flicks a wrist in allowance, and the Fëanorion draws at the center of the circle of Beleriand’s leaders, all his body turned into a banner.
For all the same flame that lives in him, Maedhros is not as Fëanor was, a great orator wielding language full of life-fire that kindles hearts to madness, nor does he have Maglor’s voice that pushes and pulls minds as if he were the ocean’s tide. Maedhros’ diplomacy is as his sword, cold, piercing with deadly accuracy, and used only at utmost need. Harsh words, one might deem them, but cold and harsh is the tongue of Beleriand. Words of steel is what wins allies in these lands and these times, stirring wrath into those hearts that have sickened from endless war.

Mr. & Mr. Smith
another excerpt for @russingon-week! this is for the day seven prompts "beginnings and endings" and "brothers and family" <3 this is the Big Wedding Day fic for my Modern Middle-earth AU the world as we know it!
~
At long last, the day arrived. Fingon’s mother straightened his purple bowtie; his father pinned a sky blue boutonnière to his lapel. Turgon straightened his collar and told him to stand up straighter, to which Fingon made a stupid joke about nothing being straight here. Elenwë, eight months pregnant, rolled her eyes and tugged her husband out of the room, while Aredhel laughed brightly in her pure white dress.
“Anyone who doesn’t know would think I’m getting married,” she joked, twirling around.
Her outfit was not as voluminous as a wedding gown, but Fingon indulged her. She was so happy—so free. She had just finally gained full legal custody over Maeglin, who at nearly two years old was being carried around by his Uncle Argon, home early from his first year of college. Aredhel was now even considering changing her last name from Black to White instead of back to Smith, just to spite her no-good convict ex-husband. (Eöl, it turned out, had a history of not only abuse but also tax fraud, blackmailing, and even arson. Once the eye of the law was fixed on him, he hadn’t been able to wiggle his way out of a prison sentence for at least the next decade.)
“My bride is prettier,” Fingon teased, only for her to whack him on the cheek with her bouquet. A daisy fell onto the ground, but neither she nor Fingon really cared. Argon gently picked up the fallen flower and tucked it behind Maeglin’s ear. The little lad giggled, and whispered something into Argon’s ear.
The day was finally, finally here.

A belated entry for Day 3 of @russingon-week (lies and deceit, hidden things, Maedhros’ captivity, the Helcaraxë) as well as a fill for @silmkinkmeme.

Hands all over him. He didn’t struggle. He could not since his body did not obey him, but he wouldn’t even if he could. There was no point. He had learned fast that he could not achieve anything by struggling except protecting the pride he could no longer afford.
His limbs were shaking. He had no control over it. He could not open his eyes. Something had happened. He had been dying. He had died. But there was no escape from the Enemy’s hold even in death. They could always bring him back, bind him to his bleeding, crumbling body. They always did.
---
He was immobilized. He was suffocating under something heavy. Something warm. Not a body. He took a breath. It was easier than expected. He moved under the weight and realized he wasn’t bound. He opened his eyes and saw only gray.
It was quiet. Something was wrong. It was never so quiet at the Iron Fortress. There were always hundreds of mouths screaming, hundreds of whips cracking, hundreds of eyes weeping. There was always the background grating hum of evil. It was too quiet here.
Maitimo tried to turn to his side and succeeded. The warmth around him came from strange pelts. Behind the crack in the gray wall, he saw only white.
Then—footsteps. Maitimo squeezed his eyes shut but immediately opened them again. Something unusual was happening, which was never good news. He had to be alert, so he would have a fraction of a second to prepare for what was coming for him.
The crack in the wall darkened for a moment, then widened so that Maitimo’s tormentor could walk in. Oh, but that was no wall at all. It was made of fabric. It was a tent, and the one who came in was not a servant of the Enemy. It was no other than Nolofinwë, son of Finwë.
Russingon Week Angst, Part 2!
To balance sad blorbos part 1 (Conflagration, or Maedhros feeling Very Alone at Losgar), have sad blorbos part 2 (The Wages of Thy Virtue, or Fingon feeling Very Alone in Barad Eithel). This one’s for @hobbitwrangler in response to an ancient ask. Have a snippet:
Lalwen’s breath catches in her throat – he looks so very much like Finwë in his weary grace. His mask of cheer and courage slips: she sees the shadows in his eyes, the lines of pain that trace the corners of his mouth. His grief is bitterly apparent. He had looked so on the Ice, she thinks, and after Angband. The weight of his sorrow gives the lie to every whisper of his carelessness.
Thank you, @russingon-week mods, for the incentive to write them again. And make them suffer. 😉
Wrensong and Roses
A little thing for @russingon-week loosely inspired the Day 6 prompts of Scent and Touch (to which I have added sound). Enjoy!
The room smelled… clinical. There was no denying it. Fingon did not like the way Maedhros startled at certain scents, nor how his eyes roved warily over instruments of healing. There were corners of his mind that hurt more than bodily wounds, Fingon was sure, though nought had been said of them. Maedhros had spoken little as yet. Fingon was met, once again, with stiffening and a wide-pupilled stare as the movement of the opening door shifted stale air about the room. It was this that decided him.
“Come, Tyenya,” he said. “Let us leave this room, for a while.”
Maedhros did not object. He gave no answer at all, except to submit when Fingon slid arms beneath his back and knees, and to lean into the embrace. Warm breath tickled Fingon’s collarbone as they slipped down the corridor and away, seeking open air.
“Will you face…repercussions?” Maedhros whispered as Fingon passed the threshold and they were hit with the scent of roses that Maglor had ordered planted when this encampment had been his to oversee.
“Beyond a scolding from a few tetchy healers? I shouldn’t think so.”

@russingon-week day six | rescue from thangorodrim
Thus Fingon found what he sought. For suddenly above him far and faint his song was taken up, and a voice answering called to him. Maedhros it was that sang amid his torment. But Fingon climbed to the foot of the precipice where his kinsman hung, and then could go no further; and he wept when he saw the cruel device of Morgoth. Maedhros therefore, being in anguish without hope, begged Fingon to shoot him with his bow; and Fingon strung an arrow, and bent his bow. And seeing no better hope he cried to Manwë, saying: ‘O King to whom all birds are dear, speed now this feathered shaft, and recall some pity for the Noldor in their need!’ His prayer was answered swiftly. For Manwë to whom all birds are dear, and to whom they bring news upon Taniquetil from Middle-earth, had sent forth the race of Eagles, commanding them to dwell in the crags of the North, and to keep watch upon Morgoth; for Manwë still had pity for the exiled Elves. And the Eagles brought news of much that passed in those days to the sad ears of Manwë. Now, even as Fingon bent his bow, there flew down from the high airs Thorondor, King of Eagles, mightiest of all birds that have ever been, whose outstretched wings spanned thirty fathoms; and staying Fingon's hand he took him up, and bore him to the face of the rock where Maedhros hung. But Fingon could not release the hell-wrought bond upon his wrist, nor sever it, nor draw it from the stone. Again therefore in his pain Maedhros begged that he would slay him; but Fingon cut off his hand above the wrist, and Thorondor bore them back to Mithrim.
—The Silmarillion, “Of the Return of the Noldor”
Thus he rescued his friend of old from torment, and their love was renewed; and the hatred between the houses of Fingolfin and Fëanor was assuaged.
—The War of the Jewels, “The Grey Annals” (Year of the Sun 5)
“Maglor had been right. Without Fingon’s particular education in worthlessness, Maedhros’ death wish would have nowhere to nest, no matching frequency to amplify. They exist as perfect conductors for each other's radical symptoms, Finnu’s shame feeding Russo's hysteria, Russo’s despair invalidating every lesson Finnu learned about deserving and undeserving. Trust Russo to seek an acolyte in his atheism, and trust Finnu to find salvation in the suicidal.”
Tried out a book-illustration style for this @russingon-week sketch, lowkey hated it halfway through but persevered for Them. Sketch features Russo and Finnu at the stranger’s wedding in Apostle (ie the ‘Jesus at the gay bar’ + ‘let me worship my feral ferret in peace’ fic) and the words are also from said oneshot! I actually made a timelapse for this one so I’ll bung it up on YouTube in a couple of days!

My submission for @russingon-week ❤️❤️
Extract Below⬇️
"Elros' breath hitched as he gazed inside the box.
Inside, lay two silver rings.
Engagement rings, by the customs of the Eldar.
He could feel Elrond’s dumbfounded breaths against his shoulder, his twin's shock comparable to his own.
Maedhros was married, or at least engaged, and no word was ever spoken of it."

For @russingon-week day 5: fire!
Rating: Explicit
Relationship: Fingon/Maedhros
Words: 2k
Driving off an invading dragon, it turns out, results in an obscene amount of paperwork. His father tells Fingon that he must write up his own report of the incident, and require every one of his archers to do the same, and then collate everyone’s work into one readable account: a task considerably harder than it should be, because the flawless memories of the Eldar have become muddied here, and almost every recollection seems to contradict the others.
Fingon cannot blame them. He, too, felt the freezing chill sweep over him when he met the great Worm’s golden eyes. But he does not know how to explain that to the High King and his advisers, who are waiting patiently for his report. And when he brings his best attempt to his father at last, feeling no very different from a chastened schoolboy late with his assignments, Fingolfin reads it over with knitted eyebrows and then says, “I think we had best call a council of the great lords of the Noldor to discuss the matter.”
“Is that necessary, brother?” asks Lalwen, seated as always by her brother’s side. She turned her sparkling smile upon Fingon. “My nephew has dealt with the issue very thoroughly, it seems.”
“No,” says Fingon, whose heart has leaped at his father’s words; “no, that seems wise, I believe.”
