Byleth and Sothis have been on my mind and this idea had been floating around in there for a while as well, so I finally drew it out and made the sequence be my laptop background ( ´ ▽ ` ).｡ｏ♡  

The lyrics are from “Slow Dance With You” from Adventure Time! (Meaning this is very very specifically about femByleth and Sothis ♡( ◡‿◡ ✿) )

And like other games have used a more anime style to better effect. Look at Persona 5. Not a stretch to say that it has some anime qualities, but the visual design and the visual language is so striking. The character designs are distinct too. You look at it and without question that is Persona. And not just any Persona but Persona 5. There is no mistakening it and it stands up on its own two feet.

Meanwhile we have Engage which lives and dies on the prestige of its brand alone and adds nothing to the table in its art and design

Its like while some (emphasis on some) of the individual components such as the colour scheme aren't terrible per say (srsly tho why those specfic saturated red blue and white colors), when everything comes together it's just so bland

When I look at the key visual I don't see a game, much less a Fire Emblem game. I see the cover of a generic isekai manga with a ridiculously long title like Woke Up A Thousand Years Into the Future to Fight Evil by Wearing Hero Summoning Rings

Then there's the lighting and art style. It's uniform bright and showy which would work for something like Heros and TMS, but it also feels flat and plastic-y at the same time. The generic anime-esque stylization of character designs also doesn't help. Even if 3H had a more anime style to its designs, there was still a sense of realism to it that balanced out the stylization. Just compare the eyes of the characters and you can see the difference

It just really is so generic. You could put Alear in Genshin or tell me they are a Vtuber and I wouldn't have questioned it. The designs just don't stand out or stand for anything. And it's annoying that IS would opt for the Corporate Memphis of character design when there are so many other stylistic directions to take and talented artists out there

It looks fine but that's it. It feels soulless. There's so little substance or depth if any at all beneath the surface

Recently got the OST for myself as a treat

Except listening to it instead inspired me to write out an entire essay on what I want to see in a "sequel." Of all specialities to have, why does mine have to be writing copious amounts of text with zero discernibly practical benefit

Since not so Intelligent Systems isn't going to bother giving me the dance I want to see, guess I have to do the work myself.

Also, if they didn't want me to butcher/completely disregard their designs they shouldn't have designed something so convoluted. Like seriously, these two must have been a massive pain to create a 3D model for and animate, what with Byleth's art nouveau leggings and the everything about Sothis. Ridiculous.
