21th August 2006 â 21th August 2016: 10 years of SCANDAL
Itâs in being fearless. We formed when we had just started playing instruments; when we were in dance and vocal school together we just decided to form a band even though we didnât know anything about that kind of thing, and even when we didnât get the best reception, we never thought of saying âWe canât do thisâ. âŠ
That said, and honestly speaking, we can be a band while being a very easy-going mood now, and Iâm happy that we can face our tenth year stage feeling like this! We wonât be welcoming itâweâll be heading towards it (RINA)
From teens that never would have thought of being in a band for such a long time, to young ladies whom goal is now to set a new Guiness Book of Records for the most long-running girl band (ZELDA, 17 years).
Many things have happened along the way: new records have been set, small fights have helped the girlsâs bond to get even tighter and also some worrisome situations have accured like Haruna losing her voice at the end of 2011 or Mamiâs bed health during the first part of 2016. But the girls have always sticked together and they moved forwards.
With a well established carrier, this powerfull all girl band has become a role model for many other young girls and ladies, setting a new trend in female bands and contributing to increase the number of female group within the japanese musicâs market.
This band might have been created by fate since the girls didnât feel the desire to learn how to play an instrument and they have been picked up to make a band by their teachers at Caless, but facts are clear: the fate wasnât wrong when it tooks its decision. The girls have been driving like crazy for these ten years non-stop, every year trying to go even further and go beyond the membersâs limits. They started with basic knowledges of their instruments, dressed up in uniforms because they were still high-school girls and they are now adult who got rid of their teenage yearsâs fashion and they are now in complete comande of everything regarding the band: schedule, fashion, artwork design and, most important, the music.
I discovered this band in 2008 with DOLL release and Iâve followed every step the girls have done from that moment. This journey was, is and will remain forever one of the best I have ever had, even if sometimes I didnât fully agree with some decisions the band put through musically speaking. The most precious thing a fan can do is to love unconditionally a band and always sticked by their side no matter which new road the group decide to take. You may not enjoy it, but youâll always keep an eye on them like they are your sisters, your friends that kept you company, that made you laught and cry along with them so many times. I could write an essay on why SCANDAL is such a special band by keeping such an easy-going vibe around them that this post will get to long to handle - maybe another time, maybe for their 20th anniversary.
Congratulation for such big goal in your carrier SCANDAL! Letâs keep moving forward under the same sky!
