Mabon is the second harvest festival of the Wheel of the Year (preceded by Lammas, followed by Samhain). It marks the Autumnal Equinox, which takes place on or around the 21st of September in the Northern Hemisphere and around March 21st in the Southern Hemisphere. Mabon will be taking place on September 22nd of this year (2013). Click here for Mabon lore.

There’s a lot of elitism in the witchy world so, I figured I might as well talk about it.

If you think witches need herbs, crystals, big beautiful books of shadows, or anything of that sort in order to be considered a “real” witch, there’s a problem. Those things, 9 times out of 10, require money and time. Not every witch has the ability to get crystals, herbs or those witch books in the stores. That doesn’t mean they aren’t witches, it just means that they’ll need to find a different way to work their magic.

Wanna know a secret? Magic doesn’t discriminate. A witch who uses primarily emoji magic is just as valid as a witch who uses primarily herbal magic. The only difference is the material they use. Either way, they are getting what they want with their magic.

This society is very fast paced, sometimes there’s not enough hours or energy in the day to do the big elaborate ritual that we would like to do. So, who’s to say the simpler magic is wrong and “fake”. It’s funny to even use the word “fake” in this situation anyway. Look at you, most people do not believe in witchcraft. In their eyes, you are “fake” and for some reason, you think you can turn around and call other witches “fake” because of their lack of materials or the way they choose to use magic.

Purpose: To get back at someone. 

You Will Need: A photo of the target or their name written on paper. A mirror. A black marker. A pendulum (or a weight on a string). 

Step One: Take your black marker and cross out the target’s face in the photo or their name. Lay the photo or name face-down on the mirror.

Step Two: Pick up your pendulum. Spin it counter clockwise over the mirror. As you do so, slowly lower your hand, allowing the circle to get smaller as if the pendulum is closing on in the token of the target. Recite:

Revenge true, revenge quick.Move in with every tock and tick.What goes up must come back down.What goes around will come around.This curse for revenge I lay,and bind you you. This curse will stay. 

Step Three: When the pendulum touches the photo or name, lay down your hand on it and whisper all of the things you want as revenge. 

A:  –I don’t know of any specific spells, but I found a chant here:

“I call the past to meet the present, that the future may be bright. I bring myself forth from the dark, and hold me to the light. Let not the past control my present, let not my future be dark as night. I meet and greet me with open arms, and move back into the light.”

–Rosemary helps with memory. You can make a tea with rosemary and drink it while thinking of something you want to remember (maybe do it at night and hope the memory comes up in a dream. Keep some paper nearby so if you wake up in the middle of the night, you can write it down. Or you can drink it the morning and go about your day and hope it comes to you), or just drink it to increase your memory in general. You can also just put it in your food. I eat it on chicken and pork chops all the time. So it’s easy to get herbs and their magical properties into you without much effort. Just while cooking, toss some on your food while thinking about what it is you’re trying to remember. Or like the tea, just eat it to increase your memory in general. 

–Some stones to help with memory are:

Sunstone - A stone of the mind. Use this stone to remember your dreams, during meditation, studying, and thinking. Wearing this stone helps with memory and thinking skills and is useful to students. Use this stone for healing the body and wounds. This is a stone of the Sun and of fire and represents sun and fire deities.

Beryl - An extremely powerful psychic stone. Magicians will tell you that beryl is the best stone for fashioning a crystal ball. It can also be used to create a polished mirror which will reveal the secrets of others. When beginning something new, wear beryl to increase your energy and help you see your project through to the end. This stone will also help to strengthen the wit. Students will find this stone useful, as holding or wearing beryl while studying or reading will allow the bearer to remember what they read.

Cerrusite - Allows the wearer to overcome barriers. Use this stone to strengthen powers of the mind such as memory and concentration. A wonderful stone to use while studying.

Charoite - This stone repels negative energies and can transform it into good energy. use it to turn your luck around or rid yourself of bad dreams. For the mind, it can help with memory and will allow you to recall your past lives more clearly. For the shy, it provides a source of courage and spirituality and will allow you to accept others.

Hematite - A stone of the mind. Hematite can be made into a ring, but it is a weak stone and will easily break. This stone will help to heighten a person’s mental capabilities and is useful for thought and studying. A pen of hematite would be wonderful for writing in a book of shadows.

Purple Fluorite - A stone of the mind, it gives the wearer a stronger intellect and provides a source of creativity and originality. Helps the wearer to distinguish truth from lies. Keeps the wearer from becoming afraid of failure or judgment of others. Because it is such a powerful stone of the mind, Purple rainbow fluorite will allow you to see into your past life. Wear this stone on your third eye to see with your inner mind. Use this stone while studying to allow you to obtain more information.

Aquamarine - This stone increases spirituality and clairvoyance and its mind uplifting properties help you stay in control, give you courage, and allow you to stay focused on problems and other important situations. Because it helps with clairvoyance it is good to wear during divination. In all senses, it makes the mind more alert.

*Looking through my documents, I found out I have a bit of past life information on my computer. So for those who have been asking, here’s a spell, and I will post a meditation soon.*

**This spell involves a mirror. If you are uncomfortable working with mirrors (like me) don’t do this spell. You can cast a circle first if you’d like, but idk how much that will help, since the mirror would be in the circle with you. I have not done this spell (or any past life spell) before, so I don’t know how well this works, I’m just sharing it with anyone who wants to try. [Circle casting methods: (1) (2)]**

~Materials~

White Candle

Mirror

~Instructions~

Set the candle next to the mirror so the light from it can hit your face, but so that you will not see the candle in the mirror. Then turn off the lights and sit in front of the mirror.

Look into your eyes and say these words: “Oracle of lunar light, Send me the second sight”

Stare into your eyes and try not to blink. Your reflection will dissolve and another will appear. Try to look at the face, body, clothing and surroundings.

A curse full of regrets made with no regrets

Materials

A poppet or representation of target

A jar or container big enough to contain the poppet

Rose petals

Strips of paper

A pen

Candles

Preparation

Pre-make poppet (this is a curse poppet so please make accordingly). On each strip of paper (and there should be a large amount) write “Forget me not.”

Performance

Have all of your supplies on your workspace.

If you usually cast a circle, do so now.

Light however many candles you want to. They’re mainly for dramatic effect.

Kiss the poppet (sweetly, if you can manage).

Now place it into the container. With each line you say, place a strip of the paper you wrote on into the container with it.

Forget me not

Forget me never.

You will regret this mistake

Now and forever.

Cross me once.

Cross me twice.

Now that you have,

You’ll see I’m not so nice.

I whisper to you nothing sweet.

I whisper to you nothing kind.

But you’ll always remember me.

I shan’t fade with time.

You had me once.

You had my favor.

You threw me away.

Now not even the gods can help this be over.

Forget me not.

Forget me never.

You’ll remember me

And regret forever.

Once this is done, close and seal the container. I recommend doing something like blowing the buried poppet one last kiss before doing so. It will never be opened again unless you want to break the curse.

If you cast a circle, close it now.

Put the container somewhere hidden or throw it away. I do not recommend breaking this curse.

Ingredients Basil, 1-2 handfuls fresh or 1-2 tbs dried 2 cups water Kettle Teapot (or a large cup you can cover to steep the tea) and strainer Glass jar or large cup Offerings for any deities/spirits you with to invoke Ice cube trays Freezer safe container and labels Spray bottle (optional)

Set up your working space as you prefer. If you wish to invoke any deities or spirits for this working, do so now.

Boil the water in the kettle and place the basil into the pot or cup, rubbing and crushing it between your fingers to release the scent as you do so. Say, Fragrant basil, bright and bold, blessings draw and blessings hold. Pour the boiling water into the pot or cup and cover it to let it steep for ten minutes. Envision the fiery protective energy of the herb being infused into the water.

After ten minutes, strain the basil tea into the glass jar or large cup and let it cool completely. Then pour it into the ice cube trays and freeze overnight. Dispose of any offerings in the usual manner.

Fair Feather’s Touch

The light element of air is found in a feather, and it can bring new love with a simple spell.

A real feather (small is fine, just not synthetic)

A dry sprig of rosemary

Pink ribbon

Use the ribbon to tie the rosemary to the shaft of the feather, and then hang the charm on your bedroom door handle (on the inside of the room side). Touch it when you go in and out of the room, and a new love will soon be yours.
