When it's done good though I totally eat it up when someone who is on a roll in one genre takes a dip into a completely different genre for a while. Maybe it reflects something about my years-long concern of being a one genre pony writing-wise until this past spring but I find it really admirable when artists of different sorts can do that. There's something about the learning of all of it. It's so easy when you're doing good to keep doing what you're doing but it's a curious and interesting thing to switch to the conventions of another genre for a while and do all of the learning and experimenting that involves
