hey batter, batter!

        “   do you want strawberry,  chocolate,  vanilla or all three   ?   i’m aware that it’s november but honestly, SCREW the weather.   ”

       “   steven,  can you please do me a favor and check over this lab report   ?   it’s for chemistry.  i’m not sure if i did it right but is it enough to get me at least an 80   ?   ”

          “   WHOA   !!   ”   she laughed and captured the ball with both hands.   “   someone’s defensive,  huh   ?   that hit a nerve.   ”   feigning an apologetic expression,  she responded,   “   my bad,  do you not want me to mention all those times you ran into a glass door when you were like,  twelve   ?    ”   the grin didn’t wipe off of robin’s face as she continued to list off all the things that he did that could be categorized as at LEAST mildly embarrassing.   “   besides,  i hide what i do pretty well.  you don’t have dirt on me,  ”   she concluded.   “   pros of being the older sibling,  kid.  ”

         “   it’s fine,  don’t worry.   ”   she sighed and played with the corners of the soft blanket that was folded up at the end of the bed.   “   holden knows that i’d kick his ass if he ever even touched them,  and i don’t think they were good enough that mom would use them.   ”   robin shook her head.   “   doesn’t matter,  i’ll ask a friend if they have theirs . so.  did you do anything interesting lately   ?    i know i’m not supposed to know about your patients... but i’d like a story.   ”

         “   I HATE a guy with a car and no sense of humor.   ”

    “   okay,  emma,  i’m going to need you to be a hundred percent honest with me.  if i ever,  hypothetically speaking,  ended up in jail,  would you be willing to bail me out   ?   ”

        “   i still cannot believe that you actually kissed sawyer that time i dared you to.   ”   robin tossed a baseball between her hands as she sat on the grass.   “   i wasn’t serious. but you really did make my day so thank you for that.   ”   she paused in tossing the ball before speaking,   “   think fast,   ”   and she threw the ball at him,  light enough that he should be able to catch it.

         “   S H I T  —   !   ”  robin whipped around to face him.   “   dad, you scared the crap out of me.   ” she laughed and sat down on her bed.   “   you wouldn’t happen to know where i kept my calculus notes from last year, would you   ?   we’re reviewing the topic again in class.   ”

         “   sawyer   !   ”   robin waved down the girl in question as she pulled her car over to the curb.   “   you don’t have PRACTICE soon,  do you  ?   i wanted to go to benny’s;  it’s been a while.  please.   ”   she drew the word out,  making it sound more like ‘pleaaaseeeee’ in order to persuade the other to accompany her.   “   i’m  l i t e r a l l y  so bored here and i may just LOSE MY MIND without you.   ”
