talking about lenoreās spectre again because i eh yeah
i love the scissors, and i know a lot of people feel like theyāre random but personally i find them to be really fitting
the scissors are more than what she threatens the deans with. she also cuts her hair with them. which is such an important part of her story. itās marking her commitment to this plan and her becoming leo. they symbolize this change for her. itās almost like when jinx cuts her hair in arcane.
but then by having the long braid in her spectre form, itās almost like sheās taking back this control. the first time we see her wearing a braid is when annabel leaves. another vital moment for her. little lenore also has one when they talk about the fox hunt. i want to point out what theo says here āthe fox runs till it canāt anymoreā. this is obvious in the moment of the flashback but it also is literally a summary of lenoreās life. she was stuck in the attic, a caught fox in a cage, to be released, meeting annabel, then running, trying to find that freedom again, courting annabel, till she couldnāt run anymore and was killed. also running in the literal sense when she was killed but yeah
its the same with the mirror walking thing. she looks at her reflection in this moment and sees theo. and it ties into her bloody mary archetype. she is showing herself what her future is and she does the same for annabel.
each component of her spectre design represents a huge change in her life/major plot point
i also think itās really cool that her spectre is the only one that has an actual weapon, not like a fabricated one. she basically has two swords. which is really fitting for her.
edit: forgot abt morella ooops
i feel like a gun would just be kind of boring and maybe even overused
also i want to know what the like red sort of halo is about. it kinda looks like a target so that could be alluding to her death but idk
so basically thatās a very short summary of every thought iāve had in the past 48 hours heh heh heh AHHHHHHHHHH
i actually love lenoreās spectre concept
LADY IN RED
come on
like itās so perfect
let me elaborate
ehhhemmm
wikipedia says the legend of a lady in red is a ghost that is often seen wearing crimson dresses that was a woman of vanity or mistress ātied to a tragic romantic pastā. and said to be killed āin a fit of passionā. now lenore isnāt necessarily a mistress. annabel agreed to the marriage plan, but chickened out. likely because of her old playmate. now I find it important that itās lady in RED. lenore has always been associated with the color red but in this case we can connect it to this episode
she is wearing red, but it is significant because of the dialogue
annabel talks about hiding lenoreās existence, just like one would a mistress. also the obligation; a mistress must hide the same way.
also this
annabel herself puts on an act everyday. she must keep up with her status and expectations. probably the reason she didnāt commit to the wedding.
then we have this
lenore here is talking about when annabel left. but annabel thinks sheās talking about the wedding.
so basically i think itās very fitting
one other thing i noticed though is that normally ladies in red are considered benevolent and lenore is malevolent
also her type is bloody mary
which explains the mirror walking thing and also ties into dying before marriage since the history is it would show you your future husband in the mirror but if you saw a skull it meant you wouldnāt live to be wed
same with annabelās ghost bride
considering the last few episodes i feel like the circumstances are so bad i have no idea how this is going to end but also i wanna talk about lenoreās spectre powers
specifically āturnaboutā
i understand this to mean she can finesse her way through a situation and put it to her favor/flip the odds
which i kind of love because thatās been a huge part of her character for forever same with spite
so basically sheās gonna bring annabel back to lifeā¦..rightā¦..right?!?ā¦..RIGHT GUYS?!??!????????
SPOILERS FOR NEVERMORE CHAPTER 142!
Okay we talked about Berenice maybe having OCD (as well as other mental health problems) when she hallucinated stabbing Lenore, but can ee talk about Lenore maybe having OCD?
your honorā¦may i present thisā¦

my hc is that annabelās gold ring is actually lenoreās because lenore loves defying gender norms and so even if it wasnāt normal for men to wear engagement rings leo did anyway.
lenoreās going to remember more about like actually proposing and then theyāre gonna swap rings for realsies and then iām going to be fulfilled trust trust
i reject any idea that itās from some other dude. my only exception to that would be if annabel was like iād rather die than marry him and then lenore was like bet me too
oh i just know he liked that kissā¦.
tsk tsk that internalized homophobiaās a bitch
my reactions to this episodeā¦
1. ada, never really cared for you too much, but even iāll admit, that hurts
itās just kinda sad
2. damn poppet
i really wasnāt expecting that from her
3. ah annabel
itās frightening how good at acting you are
4. iām so not excited for this dynamic
5. GAY š«µ
annabel is so down bad GOD KISS ALREADY
iām also loving how being apart like this has made both lenore and annabel indirectly show their feelings for each other mmmh mmmh mmmmmmh so good
now KISS, just a little smooch full on make out
Long post about chapter 134 because Iām insane apparently
Alright imma preface this by saying I am not religious so I probably made some mistakes regarding that, please excuse them and also let me know.
Firstly, I want to talk about the Edgar Allen Poe connections. In Morellaās story a women named Morella and her husband have a child. One interesting thing is that the husband isnāt utterly obsessed with Morella, instead he actually shows feelings of resentment, distance and almost hate. (slightly straying from the obsessed husband narrative but the dead wife is full steam ahead) Morella is aware of this but just accepts it as she is dying from a sickness while carrying his child. In her last breaths the child is born. Her last words are āI shall liveā. As the story progresses, this child grows very quickly and as she does, starts to resemble Morella strikingly. Out of fear, the husband does not name her. She keeps growing and showing similarities in appearance and personality. The husband decides to get his daughter baptized. When asked her name he panics and says Morella. She then responds āI am hereā and dies immediately. When she is buried next to her mother, it is found that the motherās body is no longer there. So, thereās Poe physiological horror we all know and love.
Ok to the point, I realize now that our Morella is not the mother but the child (I think). I say this because of these panels.
Sheās never had a surname, also does not use the name Morella. I wonder if this is meant to show that her caregivers did not like that she was so similar to a past Morella (her mother) that she is given a different name. It makes me think of another theory I read when this thumbnail came out about our Morella being an exiled nun because she got pregnant. If you know who posted that please tag them. Iām thinking that was her motherās story. I also think that as a result Morella never really had real parents, but I do wonder if her dad was present like in Poeās story. Either ways sheās probably spent most of her life inside a church. Like did you see her face when Maeve drank whiskey. Ya girl was shocked. Considering this was probably 1919-1921, we can connect the prohibition. Obviously, the Irish prohibition was closer to 1927 but in the United States it was in like 1920 and definitely made Irish whiskey businesses struggle. So we can still kinda connect the two. (This isnāt really important, I just thought it was interesting).
Secondly, I want to talk about this panel
Maeve says āGoodbye for nowā and earlier she said āMaybe our paths with cross again someday, Morellaā. This basically proves she will have a bigger role in Morellaās backstory. Also the namedrop makes it pretty clear too, but ya know.
Moreover, Ithink that Maeve is the one who plays a big role in influencing Morellaās life. Because of what she says here:
She is instilling this feeling of duty into Morella. And I think it relates to her death. In the maze, when Morella gets her spectre she says something along the lines of feeling like she had to protect her friends. Morella was a martyr. I say this for another reason. The bloody rosary. As I read this episode I felt like there was a lot of attention given to the rosary covered in Maeveās blood.
Apparently, a rosary with red beads is meant to depict the blood of Jesus Christ in his sacrifice and also the bloodshed of martyrs. This is crazy fam. It also is meant to mean the hope or grace that comes from redemption. eh eh? Yeah yeah?
Another thing about the rosary is this bead that seemed to have emphasis as well
it is a heart on fire with six swords around it.
The closest thing I could find to this was the Seven Sorrows of Mary. The swords themselves each represent one of Maryās greatest pains. Which include:
The prophecy of Simeon
The flight into Egypt
The loss of the child Jesus
Meeting Jesus on his way to cavalry
Standing on the foot of the cross
Jesusās body being taken from the cross
Jesusās burial
(idk if these will be important or not)
The swords pierce Maryās heart I think metaphorically. Itās meant to represent the level of pain she felt from these events. Now I could see this a relating to Morellaās mother. Because supposedly the heart on fire represents the love for God in a maternal way. On the other hand, it brings me back to this panel
I mean I already mentioned considering the context, this just screams martyr. But also itās a bleeding heart. On morella. When she already died protecting her friends. And a rosary bead with a sword pointed to a heart. Nah I am not worried for Morella at allll I mean why would I be, Theres nothing that would make me worry, noooo. Not. At. All š¢

GUYS
more edgar allen poe characters confirmed!
ligeia and rowena
they are from a short story about obsession and dying wives, (the usual) but basically ligeia dies (protagonists wife) and then his second wife rowena dies and is transformed/ressurected into ligeia
arthur
heās from a novel called the narrative of arthur gordon pym of natucket. in the simplest way possible, arthur is from nantucket and went on a whaling ship. then witnesses mutiny and commits cannibalism. cool cool. he got in a shipwreck and resorted to cannibalism to survive in this tiny boat, then ran into violent natives, a supernatural boat sorta deal, and more funky stuff.
auguste
this guyās a detective thatās like a genius. very good at problem solving and such. his last name is dupin and he pops up in three mystery short stories. basically the first sherlock holmes. the three are:
-the murders in the rue morgue (double homocide)
- the mystery of marie roget (based on a real life murder case)
-the purloined letter (this one is important)
the purloined letter is about auguste helping find a stolen letter that a minister is using to blackmail some royal woman. the police search the ministerās apartment but find nothing. auguste finds it āhiddenā on the mantle and replaces it with a fake letter made to mislead the minister.
SO BASICALLY
this is totally about the letter that lenore wrote and some one finds it and blackmails either annabel or lenore or both but auguste helps them and yeah.
the theif is named as minister d, idk who that could allude to but yuh and the blackmail letter mentions something about romantic tryst or treason from the royal lady.
can somebody draw frodo as a masc lesbian
i only ask forā¦uhā¦.researchā¦
