i find that a lot of people being weird about barbara gordon's character and regurgitating of that "passed around the batfamily" rhetoric is in the form of saying "i love barbara i just wish writers would give her a break from those boys for a while and let her be independent" when she has consistently been with one [1] member of the batfamily in comics and is a completely independent character and has been for pretty much the entirety of her existence. so much of her character and personality is being incredibly smart and mentally capable, often beyond that of her peers, proving batman can work independently but is so much better when he doesn't.

when i see someone say that it kinda just translates to "well she's not a bad character so i can't say i hate her but i don't want her around the boys, who i like so much more than her" bc like what makes you think that? also she's the daughter of the police commissioner, has lived in gotham her entire life, was batgirl, is dating a member of the batfamily, how tf do u want writers to distance her from the batfamily? as if they would read any of her solo comics that didn't feature dick or smth.

I do not like Barbara Grodon I think she is boring and pretty much a nothing character with how she characterised now and if people won't read a rjn of her without Nightwing they most likely feel the same.

She was not always a member of the 'bat family' she used to be more of an assosciate which was better because she got to have more relationships, friends and love interests outside of them.

As far as I am conerned her only good run was way back in the day when sge broke up with Nightwing, cut off the bats and worked with the birds of prey and the league. It was the only time where she actually had something going on that didn't feel like it was relying on how much you liked other characters and her friendship with Black Canary was compelling.
