       the arm wrapped around her was both expected and welcomed. she hadn’t had much contact with people outside of maceo and jamie, so it was nice to see a different face at the door for once. ❝ i did what needed to be done. ❞ kenna spoke in reference to calling roxy. hearing the brunette mention that she would be there for both she and jamie, kenna offered her a smile. ❝ i appreciate that. this is all just – it’s overwhelming, you know? ❞

“I know, love,” Roxy nods, moving them into the apartment and setting the cookies down on a nearby counter. “How are you, Kens? And don’t tell me your fine because I know there is absolutely no way that you are fine.”

Jamie subconsciously leaned into Rocky’s touch as she teased her digits through his hair and a soft sigh of contentment eased from his lips “just don’t go anywhere.” His whisper was soft, quiet as he lifted his hand to gently grasp Rocky’s chin between his forefinger and thumb. “Please.”

Lips parted slightly at his words, dark hues scanning his own matching pair as he moved to grasp her chin, brows furrowing slightly as a sympathetic look formed against her soft features. “I’m not going anywere, Jamie,” Roxelana assured, leaning forward as her digits settled against his features, gentle kiss being pressed against his lips. “I’ll stay as long as you want me to, okay? My mother has Axel so there’s no time limit.”

“Never forget the reason that you reason you left” Ramona reminded the young witch and a shrug fell upon her shoulders. “Men are the only one’s who need to be loved, women need to feel wanted.” A pointed smirk played upon the corners of Ramona’s lips, her head tilting slightly “if he’s holding back, then he doesn’t deserve you. You want my advice? Cut your losses.”

Brows furrowed slightly in thought at the femme’s words, tongue pulled between teeth as she chewed at the flesh absentmindedly and a hand rose to run through dark locks. “I don’t think it’s that simple,” Roxelana admitted. “It’s not necessarily that he’s holding me back and more that I think he’s holding himself back, you know what I mean? I just- I can’t do that. I love him, Ramona. I love him so much and he’s such a good father to our son. I don’t know... Plus his brother just died. That’d be like rubbing salt in his wounds. I don’t want to leave him permanently, I just want him to figure out who he is and what he wants.”

“Hm” Ramona hummed, her head tilting slightly before her lips formed a sharp smirk “and how’s that working for you?”

Defeated sigh leaves brunette’s lips, gaze falling downwards to cement beneath their feet as she offered a saddened shrug. “I miss him,” Roxy admits. “I miss him a lot but it was necessary. You think I’m asking too much of him? To work through whatever’s holding him back? Is it selfish of me?”

       mary took the cupcake without hesitation and immediately took a bite from it, taking a moment to savor the flavor before she looked back at roxy with a smile. ❝ it’s delicious. of course, i didn’t expect anything less than that. you truly are a wonder when it comes to baking. ❞

Gaze watches blonde closely, nervously waiting for her reaction to the new recipe, shifting impatiently before a relieved sigh left her lips. “You sure,” Roxy questions. “You don’t think it’s missing anything or that it’s too sweet? Oh god, too bitter? The icing doesn’t clash with the cake does it?”

       despite her best efforts, kenna knew that she couldn’t avoid the living world forever. hearing the knock at her door, kenna sighed and pulled herself from the bed and slowly padded her way towards the sound before pulling the door open. ❝ you had me at cookies. ❞

The second the door pulled open to reveal the she-wolf, a smile tugged against her lips, an arm moving to wrap around familiar brunette’s shoulder in a one armed hug before offering the tupperware full of cookies. “I wanted to thank you for calling me,” Roxy muses softly. “I know how hard this must be for you but I really appreciate you looking out for Jamie too. I want to be here for both of you through this. I can handle whatever you guys need me to as far as arrangements go, okay?”

Jamie followed as Rocky began to lead him towards the couch and he nodded slightly, before tugging his digits through his hair. A sigh of relief then eased from his lips as the brunette reached for his features and his dark hues fell upon her own. “I’m sorry I just… I know. I know.” The male released a slow and shaky breath, attempting to steady himself. “How are we gonna tell Axel?”

Sitting herself down on the couch, a hand moves to pull him down beside her, gentle touch rising to brush through male’s hair gently as an apologetic smile pulls across her features. “I know it’s a lot, baby,” Roxelana whispers softly. “I know this is really hard for you, but I’m here to focus on you, okay? On what I can do to ease your mind even if only temporarily. We can figure out what to tell Axel in the morning. He probably won’t even fully understand what’s going on because he’s so young but I promise we’re going to figure it all out, just not right now.”

“Oh?” Ramona mused, her brow having risen as her dark hues narrowed towards the witch, “go on” she instructed, not leaving much room for Roxy not to elaborate. “Why was he here and you not?”

A frown etched against soft features as a sigh fell from her lips, offering a simple shrug as she fell instep beside the witch turned vampire. “It’s a long story,” Roxelana admitted. “I guess we just needed some time apart. See if this is really what he wanted and so he could work through some stuff. It’s not that big of a deal.”

Rocky’s insistence for them not to have the conversation now caused for an unsteady sigh to urge from the male’s lungs as he reluctantly accepted. He shakily rose his hand to run it through his hair, noticing now just how unsteady he really was on his feet as he staggered on the spot. As the brunette reached for his digits, he allowed his frame to relax, as a fleeting breath eased from his lips. “I can’t” he murmured with a shake of his head. “I can’t sleep. There’s to much I have to help Kenna with. We have to … plan and … I don’t even know what song he would want, or …. or who he would want at his funeral.” Noticing his spiral, he attempted to coax himself away from it, but he felt so overwhelmed that it was bleeding into his mental state. “My own brother and I hardly know a thing about him.”

“We don’t have to sleep,” Rocky assured him. “Just... You need to at least sit. Please, Jamie?” Dark doe eyes pleaded with the male, lower lip protruding out in a soft pout as she attempted to move him towards the couch. “We don’t have to do any of that right this second,” the brunette countered, stopping as he began to spiral, digits rising to take his features in her grasp. “Hey, look at me. Breathe, Jamie. Everything will get taken care of, I promise. I’ll help you and Kenna as much as I can, okay? But we don’t have to do any of that right this second. That’s not your fault, Jamie.”

       ❝ yes? ❞ the blonde called out as she heard the other shout her name from the other room. hearing the footsteps coming towards her, mary lou shifted slightly on the couch and rotated to face her friend with a smile. ❝ well stop rambling about it and hand the damned thing over then. ❞

The desert was quickly passed over to the blonde, waiting impatiently as she watched the other female taste the cupcake, arms folding over her chest in attempts to calm herself. “Well,” Roxie questioned. “Good? Bad? Absolutely horrendous? It’s okay you can be honest. Promise you won’t hurt my feelings.”

Roxy’s words caused for a breath to hitch within the back of his throat, still a little clumsy on his feet as his vulnerable hues found the woman’s own, “so just … just come home, Rocky.” Her reasons for having left tortured him, he wanted them to be a family and for the years that they had been together, he was genuinely happy. He knew her leaving was his fault, which only made things so much harder. “I’m sorry.. I uh, i’m sorry.” His words were just as unsteady as his footing, as he instilled a little distance between them, taking her hand into his own as he led her into the home that they once shared together. “Can I … do you want a drink?” he eventually asked, his hand still holding onto hers for some desperately required comfort.

A pang of guilt shot through the brunette’s frame at his words, brows knitting together as dark, doe eyes met his own, the vulnerability in his unparalleled to anything she had seen from him before as a soft breath eased from her lips. “It’s not that I don’t want to, Jamie,” Roxy spoke, voice soft, buried beneath a whisper as her digits rose to brush against the skin of his cheek. “We can talk about that when you’re more sober, okay? I promise.” Brows knitted together further at his apologies, hearth clenching in her chest as he distilled a distance between them, worry spreading through her as he was unsteady on his feet even as his hand slid into her own and he led her into the familiar home. Her head shook slowly at his question, tugging softly at his hand to stop him from moving as she took a step close to him. “No, I don’t need anything, J,” the witch mused. “Can we just.. Can we go lay down? You need to rest.”

Despite the closeness of their bodies, Jamie still felt as though they weren’t quite close enough as his arms enclosed protectively around her frame. “I’ve missed you, Rocky” he whispered softly, his tone still unsteady as he exhaled a sharp breath. He knew that he wasn’t exactly thinking clearly at the moment and there was so much uncertainty surrounding him, but what he did know for sure was that he needed to be with her. With his hand resting against her cheek, he slowly ceased the movements of his lips, before lowering his hand to find hers. “We should uh, we should get inside.” With that, his digits tightened around the brunettes as he led her further into the apartment.

A shaky breath exhaled from her lips, her frame pulling into his own as his arms wrapped around her, allowing herself to enjoy the warmth that came with his embrace. “I know,” Roxy whispered breathlessly. “I’ve missed you too, baby.” Obviously, there was much to discuss between them before she fell back in but the closeness of their frames, the emotions that swirled within her and the way he sit felt like the missing piece to the puzzle that was Roxelana Demir was enough to keep that at bay. Include the fact that the whole reason she was even there to begin with was because of his brother’s death and that alone was enough to allow herself this one free pass. His digits within hers had her heart pitter-pattering within her chest, not wanting to pull from his frame, a slight whine even leaving her lips as he eventually did pull their frames apart to lead her inside the apartment. 

A soft blush appeared across Josie’s cheeks as she fumbled around in her bag for some money “I mean … I’m not sure?” a giggle followed her words as she shook her head slightly, “I guess its just complicated with everything that’s going on, but … I want to be.”

“Well then there’s nothing complicated about it,” Roxy mused with a soft laugh, arm moving to drape around the young siphon’s shoulders. “The way I see it, there’s no better time than the present especially with everything that’s going on. This might be your only chance so go for it, chickadee. Shoot your shot. We aren’t promised tomorrow so it’s best to just live in the moment than put it off.”
