Grassy was such a weird character to be a fan of for a long time. On one hand, people kept saying he's a fan favourite and that he'll surely get a hundred bajillion vote to saves and will 100% win TPOT. And like, I can admit that yes, he's definitely well liked and has a chance to make it to the final 10 and maybe even final 5.

But like... I feel like most of his fans still don't really care about him beyond 'cute character'. All other fan favourites have their fans be very outspoken and proud, make fanart, make theories... what does the Grassy fandom have? And if you're going to answer that it's because he's a kid character so he's naturally less deep than the adults, that's bullshit. TPOT19 and especially TPOT21 (he's been growing as a character ever since TPOT7, but I digress) show a lot of stuff that can be expanded on, just like his relationships with Snowball, Basketball, Blocky, Tree, TV, Pencil, I could go on.

I don't want to complain that he's an unloved character because he very much isn't, he's got a lot of fans and I appreciate that... but similarly to characters like Firey, I feel like most of his fans don't really... get them, they just like them because they're casual friendly. Plus the fans often prefer to focus on a shallow interpretation of their relationships (romantic in Firey's case, familiar in Grassy's) and nothing more than that.

On a more positive note, TPOT21 definitely helped with this. Even if it's still not to the same level as other TPOT fan favourites like Golf Ball, Pen or Black Hole, there are more Grassy fans that genuinely appreciate his writing and development and care about him as him and not just Snowbasket's kid with no further personality. Hopefully this positive trend keeps going in the future.

Will still never forget when I found another person who did Grassy analyses pre-TPOT19 and how in that moment I felt like I'd won the lottery.
