[Megumi and Ying in the car, nearing midnight of December 21st]

MEGUMI: Ying…

YING: Yeah?

MEGUMI: Why’re you recording?

YING: Eh? Why not? You know I love documenting small moments like this.

MEGUMI: Yeah. I know you do. You’re just focusing it on me a lot. And you brought your actual camera rather than just your phone.

YING: It’s your birthday after all. Of course I’d focus it on you in the highest quality, right, Ijichi?

[Ijichi nods]

YING: [laughs] Thanks for driving us again.

IJICHI: [nods with a smile] I couldn’t pass up the birthday boy.

YING: See? Even Ijichi thinks so! [she laughs, positioning the camera at Megumi] Oh! Oh! Keep doing that! You look good.

MEGUMI: Ying…

YING: C’mon! Just act like yourself. I already love that about you.

MEGUMI: Jeez...

YING: Look, you look so good!

MEGUMI: [leans into camera and chuckles, wrapping arms around Ying] You're just good at taking photos.

YING: Take some credit for being eye-candy, will you? You sea urchin.

MEGUMI: Stop calling me that.

IJICHI: We're here.

YING: Ooh, thanks, Ijichi!

IJICHI: Happy birthday again, Megumi.

MEGUMI: Oh, thanks. For that and the ride.

IJICHI: I do have a present for you, actually.

MEGUMI: Huh? You do?

[Ijichi chuckles, pulling his gift out and handing it to Megumi]

MEGUMI: You…got me a bunny plushie too? Huh? It’s the same as Ying’s?

IJICHI: Don’t worry about it. Happy birthday, Megumi.

MEGUMI: Ah, thank you…

[Ijichi drives off]

YING: [zooms camera in on Megumi] So…where are the cuties?

MEGUMI: Shiro and Kuro? Why?

YING: Come on, we can’t celebrate without your dogs!

MEGUMI: You want them for yourself.

YING: …no…

[Megumi stares blankly at her]

YING: Okay, so what?

MEGUMI: [sighs] I’ll get them.

YING: Yay!

[The dogs come out, and Shiro runs over to Ying’s legs, Kuro running over to Megumi. Megumi bends down and pets Kuro]

YING: Oooh, that is so cute! [points camera towards him]

MEGUMI: Did you just—

YING: Yup. I did.

MEGUMI: Of course you did.

YING: You love me.

MEGUMI: That I do.

YING: Aww, I love you too!

[The two of them, with the dogs, start walking back to his dorm. Ying pauses write in front of his door]

MEGUMI: Hm? Is something the matter?

YING: No, no. I just…well, wanted to give you my second present. [looks down at the time on her phone before reaching up and placing a soft kiss on his lips] Happy Birthday, Megumi.

MEGUMI: Eh? It’s already twelve?

YING: Yeah. I wanted to beat anyone to greeting you first.

MEGUMI: [stares for a bit, before a huff of amusement comes out] Thank you, Ying. [leans down to hug her]

YING: Aww, you’re welcome, Megumi. [hugs back] Now, come on, let’s go in. I have my third present for you?

MEGUMI: Third? Huh?

[Ying opens the door to his dorm just slightly]

MEGUMI: What the—

[Yuuji, Nobara, and Gojo tackle him to the ground with bunny plushies and presents]

YUUJI: Fushiguro! Happy Birthday!

GOJO: Happy birthday, Megumi!

MEGUMI: What—what are you all doing in my dorm!? [looks up at Ying] This was your third present?

YING: Oh, don’t tell me you’re not enjoying it.

SHOKO: [sighs] Gojo, I told you not to tackle him first thing on his birthday.

MEGUMI: Ieiri is here too?

SHOKO: Everyone is. Yuta, Maki, Toge—Tsumiki.

MEGUMI: [pauses the fight from the ground] Tsumiki?

TSUMIKI: [looks down at Megumi, holding a bunny plushie] Happy birthday, Megumi.

MEGUMI: [forces the three off of him and gets up from the ground] Tsumiki, I didn’t expect you to be here…a bunny plushie?

TSUMIKI: [laughs, reaching up to hug him] Well, you can blame your girlfriend here. She set everything up.

MEGUMI: [looks at Ying behind the camera] You did?

YING: You really expected me to not do one big thing on your birthday? It’s like we never dated…

MEGUMI: [laughs] I did know. Still doesn’t mean I’m not surprised—woah!

[Yuuji and Nobara bombard him with the bunny plushies again]

YUUJI: The bunnies were part of her plan too!

MEGUMI: That’s why Ijichi…

NOBARA: Yeah. We all got one. Cause she’s all disgustingly cute and romantic with you.

MEGUMI: Hey—stop giving me them all at once!

YING: Oh! Oh! Stay there! Let me take a photo!

YING: Perfect! I love it!

NOBARA: Alright, bring out the cake, Yuuji!

YUUJI: Eh? Why me?

NOBARA: You’d really make a girl carry it? How dare you.

YUUJI: What!?

[The two of them start bickering as they go to get the cake, the others holding them back from violence]

MEGUMI: [walks up behind Ying to see the photo she took] Huh, you captured that well.

YING: [chuckles, leaning back] You look so cute here.

MEGUMI: [wraps hand around her waist and places chin on her shoulder] You just know how to capture a moment.

YING: Just the the credit, my gosh. [she laughs and kisses his cheek]

[Megumi buries his face into her neck, mumbling]

YING: What was that?

MEGUMI: …thanks. For all of this.

YING: [smiles and kisses his head] Of course. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.

MEGUMI: …I love you.

YING: Gosh, you’re adorable. I love you more, Megumi.

MEGUMI: [pulls his head up and chuckles] Oh, definitely not more than right now. [kisses her cheek] Definitely not more than ever.

YUUJI: I loved seeing it! Fushiguro ain’t someone who likes all the attention like that, so his reaction was part of one of the things I was most looking forward to. He didn’t disappoint!

NOBARA: Eh, I guess it was fun. What was fun was looking at Fushiguro’s face all flustered the entire time. I should totally ask Ying if she has more blackmail photos of him—serves him right for taking her when I had her first.

GOJO: Megumi’s faces on his birthday ever since I came into his life never gets old—but he is! How am I supposed to live with that? One day, you’re picking them up from school—the next they have a girlfriend! I don’t believe it!

TSUMIKI: Megumi’s never been one to like attention, and it’s only an unfortunate thing for him that he’s surrounded by people who are willing to give him all the attention in the world on his birthday, haha. For as much as he has his complaints, it’s noticeable how much he opens up year after year on his birthday. I think that was my favorite part.

YING: Eh? You’re interviewing me too? Well, I think you already know what I’m going to say. There’s no way I’m not going to go all out for Megumi’s birthday—I do, truly, love him. And the desire within me to make sure he knows he’s cared and loved for in his special day is immense and undeniable. So I’ll do just that. And yeah—I agree with what Tsumiki said. He has opened up more and more, and I think it’s absolutely precious.
