VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: BUDGET put together by Rose!
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: PROCESS Though I feel like our Final documentation does an ample job of documenting process of finding a location and setting up, I wanted to share this video that didn't make the cut:)
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: FINAL ARTIFACT Lively (tm) Entertainment Cage 40inx42in Dog cage, blankets, fairy lights, stuffed animals For our artifact, we dragged the cage, the door of the tent, into the gallery space. Presenting the cage by itself in this context transforms it significantly in a way I really like. On its own, I feel like it really encapsulates our main message of streaming services and the state of capitalist-driven entertainment being a shitty, uncomfortable trap only barely dressed up with pretty lights and small comforts, but I think it goes beyond only entertainment. Hearing from our classmates and what they took away from the installation was amazing, people saw it as a trap, as a prison, and (one that particularly resonated with me) a dorm room. I think most people today are unsatisfied with the state of the world. We pay more for tinier living spaces, worse entertainment , less amount of groceries... and yet the powers that be keep telling us, this is how it has to be! It's not so bad! Be grateful! I think we are all clearly seeing beyond the veil, that late stage capitalism is a cage of the higher-ups design, only barely dressed up to be tolerable. They want us to be complacent, to lay in our kennels, to accept this reality. But, it doesn't have to be this way, our strength is in numbers. they can't shove an organized community into a single, small cage.
VIRAL INTERVENTION: FINAL DOCUMENTATION Here's our final documentation of the Livey Entertainment Tent (tm) , edited by Rose! It was a long process, obviously from traveling all the way to the PAMM and getting kicked out, to having some technical bumps along the way , but we made it work! I learned as an entertainer that it is really fucking hard to do improv on the spot, especially when given a specific genre. It was really interesting trying to find novel ways to draw people in.. about halfway through we changed gears to ask people to perform to us and it was surprising how many took the bait when it was framed like that. I'm surprised that so many people actually crawled into the cage!

VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: TIMELINE Above is our timeline, drawn up by the wonderful Rin. Day 1- shop for materials Day 2- design and print a banner Day 3- travel to our site, set up, and perform!
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: PROPOSE Since our group's proposal process went a little differently, due to time constraints, our workflow and brainstorming sessions turned out a little more DIY and frantically paced. As we talked and discussed, I wrote down thoughts: The springing off point was an idea i had of a public performance that wasn't interactive: the three of us would don rat outfits, and with pink rope be tied together , evoking imagery of a rat king all tied to eachother. we would then sprint in different directions , trying to reach an unattainable goal. I talked about bringing in a 4th party to record us like it was some futile gameshow, and from there Rin brought up a concept of something like a giant hamster wheel that we could run on while people looked on; the aspect of signage and a barker came into play here. and from there... the cage was introduced. Everything fell into place after that; you can see we introduced the tent, someone as an announcer, etc... and finally, we went through a swathe of different locations we could present at, finally settling with it being in front of the Perez Art Museum.

VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: FINAL PROPOSAL AND TASK LIST Pictured above are the visuals and schematics for our final proposal to encapsulate our phrase : RATTRAP, FILM, FOR THE SAKE OF ENTERTAINMENT. WELCOME, ONE AND ALL, TO LIVEY ! (TM) , the ONLY live performance streaming service with a deal of a lifetime: a measly 15,000 dollars a month with a gratuitous 10-second free trial! Our project draws upon the current state of affairs of entertainment. The SAG-AFTRA strike was long and arduous, and so , so many CEOS showed their true colors about how they feel about the people who line their pockets. At the same time, writers and creators are pushed to their limit. Streaming services are bloated with vapid, uninteresting nonsense, and then actually interesting titles who are only given a single season to shine before the plug is pulled. Working conditions are often inhumane, as highlighted by the recent Squid Game reality TV show. To draw attention to this issue and comment on it, we fabricated a fake streaming service, hosted entirely within a fun little tent. The catch? The only way to watch the entertainment is to crawl into a sparsely decorated dog cage. Once inside, participants will be met with the most lukewarm , uninteresting entertainment. And then they're booted out again.

Framing the Space
Title: Mediocris Obscura Medium: Digital Art , Cotton cloth, Projector Dimensions: 2ft x 2ft Like I mentioned before, this assignment was done a little differently. Though I initially had an idea that I crated sketches for: , It didn't reach fruition. Still, I wanted to digitally create the piece and also show how it would unfold and present so as to not leave anything unresolved. this piece plays off of the Fairyland flag I created, it is an amorphous painting , projected over a cut cloth. Independent of eachother, they come across as nothing, but when the digital art is projected over the cloth we see a clear resident of Fairyland, coated in sick. The title is a play on words combining the latin for fairy and the camera obscura; looking through the peephole reveals to you something where there wasnt
Flag Race Challenge
TITLE: FAIRYLAND DELUXE Medium: Video , paper, spray paint, acrylic Dimensions: 1ft x 5ft For this project , we were meant to use fabrics from our previous project to create a flag encapsulating or expanding upon the concepts laid down. It went a little differently for me, as my previous project was not presented at the time of making, so i decided to revisit a personal project that only existed as a pencil sketch. This is Fairyland, a painting inspired by the Murder of the Universe album by king gizzard and the lizard wizard. For the next part of this, me and my partner decided to pick the Aguacate Sanctuary of Love, as it was pretty much a perfect equal distance from both our homes. We started at opposite sides of the sanctuary, and among the chickens and rabbits and turkeys and ducks, we bounded to the center as the sun set. As the video shows, I lost the race, but it was super fun and we stuck around to feed the animals afterwords .
Iconic Places
Title: Limestone Giveth, Mangrove Taketh Medium:Video Art For this project, i wanted to connect wilderness , memory, and a mental invisible footprint our bodies and minds feel between past and present . These two videos play in tandem with each other , both exactly the same length. One video was taken at an area in my neighborhood dubbed "The Rocks", an outcropping of , well, rocks, that washes into Biscayne Bay. It is somewhere I went to all the time as a kid , and still visit religiously to clamber over the stones and dip my toes in the water. The second video is shot at a dense park situated next to the closed community Deering Bay. You have to drive into its recesses, surrounding yourself in mangroves and natural channels of brackish water. The area opens up into a brackish lake, which in turn drains out to Biscayne Bay again. This area used to be totally untouched, but recently an area of wild grass was converted into a dog park. The videos follow a loose narrative of progressively shirking societal norms and embracing nature. It's a fantasy I have constantly and something I'm just. always yearning for. To live in the brush and be wild and free forever.

Title: Murder at the Tumblr Party Medium: performance art, humans, plushies, plunger ,rainbow lights This was such a fun one!! we were asked to transform the inner space of the glass into a scene or story using colors and props. For this, I got a blanket i sleep with, several of my plushies, and my phone to play music off. I went inside, prepped, and told everyone in the room to come inside the space and do whatever felt natural once the music started. I then laid down and closed my eyes. I found it really interesting that everybody started doing the carmeldansen dance as thats what i put on. at a point people started to mess with the items on me too. the narrative i had laid out is that i was murdered at the party and what could happen if a party kept raging just thinking a person was passed out.
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: COMPOSE NOTE: Originally I had followed through with the first 4 steps with a different phrase, before I was later assigned a group. I spent sveral hours making these above, so I would like to preserve them at the very least.
