“One Million Dead Fascists”
Ink on paper, 9”x12”
One of the hallmarks of fascism is individual conformity to an ideal. The square is the visual representation of conformity, as in the saying “don’t be such a square.” The squares in the piece are imperfect, drawn freehand. This reflects the way that humans always fail in their attempts to fit an inhuman ideal. But squares, choosing to be squares, will live as squares, and inevitably, will also die as squares.
