Maia has the worst treatment (out of Alec + Magnus) because as a woman, she is automatically silenced and seen as a bitch for calling problematic shit out, but as a werewolf and being a black woman, she can hardly fight back. anytime Maia defends herself, there’s some man and especially some clave member trying to make Maia seem like she’s the problem. Maia gets chipped without her fucking consent and Imogen viciously attacks Maia. “I already get shit for being black but I thought yall were more evolved than that. now I’m getting attacked for being a downworlder?” honestly though, think about it. Maia is the first one who gets attacked and blamed by Imogen when Kaelie starts killing shadowhunters because Valentine killed hundreds and the clave does absolutely nothing about it. why wasn’t a man being blamed? why is Maia the first one to be chipped? why is it a woman that automatically gets blamed first? when Simon killed Quinn, no one blamed him. no one said “Simon, that’s not how the system works.” yet when Maia tricked Heidi into killing herself, Simon puts all the blame on Maia. “that’s not how the system works.” yeah because the system is always against a woman. everyone was a okay when Simon killed anyone, especially using his powers. Maia has to be the worst treated character in the show besides Alec + Magnus. no matter what she does, she is always silenced and treated like shit.
it always baffles me how jace blames Alec for “feelings” when Alec starts to call out problematic behavior from Jace. as if Alec can only be mad because “he’s jealous of clary” and couldn’t be due to jaces extremely problematic behavior. the ego that jace has is unreal. “how dare he call me out. he’s supposed to excuse my actions” I think that’s why it makes me upset when season two happens and Alec stops calling jace out. the fucking potential Alec had
