Do u think it made sense for elena to say damon was going to save stefan from himself on s3.
i mean, they push that in dialogue
and we're supposed to see that because stefan can never let damon die even when he's not supposed to care about anything so it's like as long as stefan keeps saving damon then he's not too far gone
but when it comes to what actually gets him through or gets through to him and to hold on to his humanity,
and what causes an internal shift in him
and what actually causes him to feel and reflect
and when he thinks about standards of humanity
it's elena. stefan even says it
like even with damon "helping" stefan with the blood bags, he says he'll do that in 3x16 and then 3x17 picks up the next day and all we really see is damon say this
but when stefan actually needs help, it's elena's presence he relies on
which keeps in line with 3x03 where you think he's too far gone but it turns out he's not
or 3x05 where he's pushing away the personification of his bloodlust and non-humanity
