Promised Reunion

❝ That’s true… we have others to talk to, so at least we won’t be as lonely… ❞

Kanon isn’t sure what she would do if it was just her in this situation. She’s met some very kind people here, and they’ve all helped her not feel as afraid. Don’t get her wrong, she’s still nervous, but she feels much better than she did when she first arrived here. 

❝ A-Ah, wait, I never introduced myself! ❞

Where are her manners? She got so caught up with everything, she didn’t even get to ask for his name. How embarrassing…

❝ I’m Kanon Matsubara, it’s nice to meet you! ❞

She bows and then holds her hand out to shake. Being polite goes a long way, after all! Hopefully she’ll bump into him again after this, he’s very nice and gives good advice despite just meeting her.

“Right! For the sake of the people at home, I think it’s a good idea to try and do things that would make them smile, too - I don’t think my few friends back home would be happy about me panicking and losing my head about this, and they probably would be happy at friends being made too...but I digress. Everyone has their own way of doing things, aha.” Nodding in a reassuring, gentle manner, the fact that introductions had been passed up initially in the nerves of it all made him blink in relization, then look slightly sheepish. “Ah, I should apologise for that, too - that was a little rude of me...but I suppose we were both very concerned about the strange happening we’ve found ourselves in, so of course introductions may not be the first thing on mind...my name is Garry Montego. It is nice to meet you as well.” He took the offered hand, giving a gentle shake before letting go. “I...have no idea where I am staying in all this, but if we meet again, maybe I should bring some hand-made sweets to share next time...!” It sounded like a good way to talk more, anyway, conversation seemed to come easier to a shy person as himself when he didn’t have to worry about doing WELL on the conversation and got slightly distracted with food.

||  █ ▌— really, a nice nap was something linhardt had come to count on in order to cure him of nearly any ailment of the mind, and hopefully that would include the uncertainty and anxiety that came with finding himself far from home–suddenly and without warning, and without most of the magic that he had so carefully honed and assuredly depended upon.

and linhardt had a special talent for falling asleep practically anywhere. he’d once drifted off while atop a wyvern during a particularly dull assignment of chores, after all. a bench, while not most people’s first choice, was remarkably comfortable by comparison. the only thing he really needed was some peace and quiet.

it wasn’t long after he fell asleep, however, when someone approached him. linhardt wasn’t one for action, let alone confrontation, but five years at war had made him a lighter sleeper than he’d used to be, once upon a time. he jolted awake, bleary-eyed as he looked at first to be on-guard, then relaxing once he realized that there was no immediate danger. the situation was surprising to be sure, but hardly something that linhardt felt he should be upset over. mostly, he was puzzled.

he blinked a few times and yawned, looking at the other. ❝ so… what are you doing with that? ❞ he asked, looking at the jacket with clear confusion.

The green-haired stranger jolting awake hadn’t just been an action that alerted the stranger themselves: but Garry as well, with his timid nature, he jumping and almost dropping his jacket in the dirt in surprise at the other awakening in such an unexpected way. A-ah...! He’d thought he’d been very slow and quiet about it all, but apparently not - oh dear. Bowing his head in sincere apology even as the other looked sleepily puzzled, he answered: “A-ah, I’m very sorry - I was wandering around this park to feel a little more at ease at the whole ‘finding oneself in a strange city with a kingdom’ thing, when I noticed you on the bench: it hardly seemed the most comfortable place to take a nap, so I was hoping I could make it a little less hard with my jacket here.” He had no reason to lie, even if the answer was admittedly embarrassing to admit to aloud. He pulled the offending jacket back on, then, glancing away nervously and wishing the grass would swallow him up so he didn’t have to discuss such an embarrassing situation: alas, no such thing happened, so there he stood, debating why he was so shy when it came to talking to new people.

Princesses? Sages? A magical kingdom with outdated technology? It’s not the weirdest thing he had experienced, but it’s out there. Also, the fact he’s… kidnapped without any exact reason about why. Gee, that’s kind of something. At least it’s not one of those dreams where he’s given a choice of to cooperate or die because he won’t. Yes! Great! Actually not so great, but who cares.

He didn’t do much in the apartment he resided in, besides keeping himself occupied. He did that by going through all his hobbies and interests. Once he got bored, though, he’d leave the apartments and explore. Ritsuka … never actually thought about meeting his roommate quite yet.

So, when he takes a peek outside his room for once, and stay in the apartment for once, he notices someone in the kitchen. Was it his roommate? He assumed it to be the case, so he walked towards the kitchen curious as what they were up to. As he inched closer, he saw that his roommate was putting lots and lots of chocolate chips into the bowl. Chocolate chip cookies? Yummy… Before his thoughts stray, his roommate spoke with a raised hand as if to greet him.

“Oh, you didn’t alarm me or anything! Don’t worry about it. Are you baking chocolate chip cookies? Oh, yeah, I guess we are… I’m Fujimaru Ritsuka. It’s a pleasure to meet you!”

He sidesteps to the side, and walked towards the counter to take a closer look at what his roommate was baking.

“I did not alarm you? Truly so? W-well, that’s good, then, I was a little worried about how someone might react walking into their home to find someone else already there and all and oh - I’m rambling, aren’t I? Many apologies...” Bowing his head in sincere apology there for his nervous tangent - he tended to be like that when it came to first meeting someone, and he felt certain that not everyone WANTED to hear a lengthy spiel every time they met someone. Though, he brightened somewhat at the correct guess of the other when it came to what he was baking. “That’s right - I wanted to thank those in charge for at least providing us with housing given they didn’t have to do that, I’m not sure I would have coped too well with having nowhere at all to stay, you know? My name’s Garry - it’s nice to meet you as well.” A nod, before he went back to stirring until the mixture began to stick together...now came the part he had to put the bowl away and shape the mixture into little balls to place on the baking tray, which would flatten when baked and turn into cookies. “Ah...well, do you want to help make them, actually? I don’t mind sharing them once they’re baked, really...”

❝ Maybe… I hope so, at least… all we can really do is adjust to the best of our ability… ❞

The last thing she wants is to be completely in the dark about this. She doesn’t even know why she was brought here in the first place, she doesn’t have any skills or abilities like most others here. She’s just a student in a band… but maybe there’s something more to that she can’t see. Ahh, this is way too confusing… she wishes this was all some weird dream. 

At least she kept something from back home, even if it’s just her drumsticks. They’re a nice reminder of, well… simpler times. Kanon has a feeling things will get hectic soon… and she has no idea if she’s ready for that. Patron Sage or not, she still considers herself cowardly and too anxious for such things.

❝ Sorry for being so gloomy, I know that isn’t much comfort- ❞

“Right - at very least, we’re apparently being given a place to stay, and they didn’t have to extend that kindness, so I have a feeling that they’re not ‘behind’ all of us coming here and are just as surprised about it, perhaps, as we are...” Or, maybe they had been brought here for some purpose and they DID have a reason to be kind, but Garry doubted that was the answer here. He didn’t have a single thing that could be useful in a really bad situation other than reassurances, honestly, so it was bewildering as to why they’d pick him. Especially given how easily scared he was - but he shakes such thoughts aside, giving a reassuring: “No, you can’t be blamed for being upset at the current time, if you’ve just found yourself here much the same as I have...but at least one positive is that it’s not an ‘isolating’ situation, mm? There are people to talk to and try to give positivity too, at least, I m-mean...”

Despite her hopes, Kanon has a sinking feeling that she won’t be returning home anytime soon. An apartment, money to spend… this will probably last for days, or even longer. It’s scary, being all alone in a country as strange as this one, with no end goal in sight. And judging from her previous conversations, no one really knows how to leave yet. Are the others worried? What if they’re putting up ‘missing person’ flyers?! What about school, she’s set to graduate soon… 

She gets lost in her thoughts, head almost feeling like it’s beginning to pound until she hears a voice next to her speak up.

❝ Ah- ❞

Violet eyes look over to the man standing next to her, and she gives a small apologetic smile. Looks like she spaced out again, huh? This stranger looks as confused as she did when she first got here…

❝ I’m sorry, but no one really knows how to leave… we’re all stuck here for now. I wish I could be more help, but I just got here a few hours ago. ❞

The feeling of hopelessness creeps up on her again, but she pushes it down. Not now, Kanon.

Taking into account the stranger he’s just spoken to - she’s not as young as Ib was, but she certainly can’t be older than school age, from what he can ascertain - poor dear looks very frightened, not that he can blame her. Oh dear - he’s scared, he can’t deny that, but to let fear control him in front of someone who looks like they could use a friendly face just as Ib did - he shouldn’t do that. 

It’s almost eerie how close this situation seems to mirror the ‘false world’ that existed back then, but he pushes such worries to the side firmly, trying to give the other a reassuring look. “W-well: I’m sure we’ll get answers sooner rather than later, given how quick those in charge apparently were to address, right?” At least, that’s what he overheard from passers-by, not like he saw the ‘royalty’ apparently in charge for himself given he just got here, but...it’s some positive to hold onto and hopefully cheer the worried person next to him up, right? He hopes so, anyway-
