Another gorgeous photo of Matthew Goode, from 2013, taken by Johann Sandberg for 'Officiel Hommes'.
Added a song link that meshes well with the aesthetic of this photo, Steve Winwood's song Talking Back to the Night, with an instrumental version of the 1987 version of the song. There's an elegance to both the song and the aesthetic of Matthew's look in this photo. It kind of vibes similarly to the mid to late 80s aesthetic for me. Clear sense of yang, structure, and soft romantic atmosphere paired with timeless classic aura. While I'm not an expert by any means, speaking in terms of fashion and style, this photo of him speaks out to me as style essences of Dramatic, Classic, and Romantic. He looks sculptural, timeless, and there's a softness to his eyes. Timeless elegance. Romantic softness and expressiveness. Plus dramatic architecture. There's something about his aesthetic that speaks to me.

Dept. Q filming outside Carl's flat on Leith Links earlier.
Matthew Goode! Aaron McVeigh! Definitely NOT Rebus!
Got to watch MG being filmed getting in and out of a car umpteen times. AMcV was also there in Jasperβs classic school uniform look.
Please enjoy these terrible photographs β if you use a magnifying glass (microscope??) you may be able to make out MG and AMcV.
Rick McGinnis talks about his old photos
One of my favorite series of photos of Matthew Goode, taken by photographer and journalist Rick McGinnis back in 2008 to promote 'Brideshead Revisited'. In the provided link, he wrote a blog post in 2017 reflecting on his experiences photographing Matthew Goode and Hayley Atwell. Plus he includes his sentiments about how Matthew performed as Antony Armstrong-Jones/Lord Snowden on 'The Crown', and how it portrayed the world of photography. I also enjoyed how photography was portrayed in 'The Crown', and I was geeking out over the Leica and the dark room scene. Though, on top of that, the onscreen chemistry shown between A A-J and Princess Margaret was palpable and was an experience of frisson for me.
The way that Matthew performed A A-J was stellar, and it's no wonder he was nominated for an Emmy (should have gotten it). His voice, cadence, movements, and containment of emotion playing off with Vanessa Kirby's performance as Princess Margaret was an electric experience for me. Back to McGinnis' blog post..... He makes valid points about how the art and the process of photography is portrayed. A couple of things to note is that developing photos on your own in the dark room takes much longer than what is shown onscreen, and the process is much more involved. Chemical reactions to take what's on the film to the enlarger take a while. All other things aside, I do think the results of the photo shoot that McGinnis did in 2008 came out brilliantly.
Photo Credit: McGinnis (2008) These are among two of my favorite photos of Matthew. I really love the use of the soft diffuse natural lighting in these shots. Both the black and white and color photos capture Matthew brilliantly, though I have a soft spot for the color one. Matthew's eyes are vibrant with a soft gaze. A+ to Rick McGinnis for these gorgeous shots!
