The Story of Azeroth; The World Soul
As of current known knowledge. Half of this is theorizing or pespective but most of this I am confident in.
Starting in Legion, there is the first, in game wise, seen interaction with the world soul, with Magni being a speaker for Azeroth and going to Titan Facilities to commune with her. She has nightmares and they manifest specters.
Then The Sword(tm) is stabbed into Azeroth, and her blood seeps through the earth to the surface, and crystalizes. It is powerful, and when shown to Sylvanas it..... enlightens her in the way Sylvanas becomes enlightened. You go to the chamber of the heart, a titan facility watching over Azeroth, that connects or becomes connected to other titan facilities including the forge of re-origination. Eventually Azeroth is saved thankfully.
The next piece of importance is the story of Elun'ahir, where a world tree was planted and then destroyed by Aman'thul but its roots remained and grew and were watched over by freya, even gaining guardians.
Then at the end of Dragonflight a Radiant Song begins being heard and in the pre-patch memories in the colors of Azerite. At the start of War Within The speaker communicating with Azeroth receives a vision telling him to go Khaz Algar, it being in peril.
At Khaz Algar there is the coreway, though it becomes blocked off, there are records from the keeper Archaedas found who's records state that the World Soul has been kept in and protected in a facility known as the world core, and that there are many facilities monitoring her and shaping her conscious as she sleeps.
It is said that titan construct Earthen in close proximity to the world core were gaining free will, and trying to destroy the world core containing Azeroth. Some became crystalized and were referred to as Thraegar.
On the Isle of Dorn an elemental is being tormented by the song, the presumed song of Azeroth, and in another area Elementals are destroying titan artifacts with Dagran remarking that they seemed to hate anything titan.
Beledar is found in Hallowfall, a massive shining glowing crystal which is theorized to have teleported the Arathi of Hallowfall to their new home.
Then an island called the Siren's Isle is found, having been mined for Azerite in recent years, but a part of a large yellow crystal is seen on the surface, and later an ancient Vykrul settlement documenting history with another part of that yellow crystal, called the singing crystal, in the center. Next to the crystal is a circlet, and Vrykul tablets document a history of Titan Forged Iron Vrykul being drawn to and finding the crystal, and worshipping it, the leader Circe having the circlet made to better commune with it. The crystal inspired them to create, and innovate. The same could be seen in modern time on the Island as 3 different people could be listened to feeling innovated by the crystal, one wanting to heal, one wanting to create, and one wanting to create power, in prescence of shards of the singing crystal or from hearing its song.
Shards of the crystal were attuned to remnants of Beledar and confirmed that they were the same. Earthen also recorded the energy waves of the crystal and spoke of them as seeming to reach out, cautiously. Archaedas in his records outright refers to there being multiple crystals like Beledar and that they were calcified chunks of Azeroth's world soul essence.
We meet the Haranir through Orweyna who first appears, saying she was sent outside her home by her Goddess. She takes us to Harandar, an underground land where the roots of the world trees meet, and in the center roots swirling around light, the area called the cradle, the cradle of the Goddess. The Haranir a long time ago came to Harandar called by the song of the Goddess, her song heard all throughout Harandar, but it is an echo and that she is no longer there. They wait for the day the Goddess returns, not knowing where she's gone. Deep in Harandar there lies the rift of Aln where tormented apparitions crawl from, in the same colors as Azeroth's memories.
And then someone similar to Magni as a Speaker, a Haranir presumed to have received their Godess, Aln'hara's memories, says that the Goddess was Kidnapped, and has been imprisoned, held captive against her will. When asked who did it he said it was a powerful force not of this world.
The Haranir murals show that Keeper Freya and titan constructs have been in Harandar, and this paints a clear picture. In the story of Elun'Ahir it is said that Keeper Freya watched over the crater and nurtured the life that blossomed there, and that "mysterious guardians arrived who dedicated their lives to protecting the roots." which fits perfectly with the tale of Elun'Ahir. And then there's Archaedas's records, and the Coreway, "a vast chamber at the heart of the world. There, the Worldsoul will slumber, with only the titans to influence it." possibly relating to the part about kidnapping.
"Song" has been a re-occurring theme, specific to world souls, and their communication. Azeroth is put in stasis, trapped, and literally having her conscious altered, removing her free will. But she is powerful, being a world soul and the most powerful, and she still tries to reach out, tries to get help.
Crystals are a form of communication for Azeroth. The Earthen working close to the world soul were given free will being pleaded with by Azeroth to free her, and became crystalized. Though Beledar is more enigmatic it held power to bring people to it, and with Hallowfall's proximity to the world core, that may have been why. The singing crystal on siren isle communicated with people, notably cautiously; the caution may have resulted after the thraegar's destruction and the Titans tightening protocol and measures around earthen and the world core. The singing crystal's purpose is less obvious, though a not very serious theory is just the crystal being pure communication; seeking connecting, wanting friends and finding such in Circe.
The elements presumably also Azeroth's creation are noted on multiple occasions as hating Titan creations and Order and seeking its destruction, and one elemental on the Isle of dorn states pain from Azeroth's cries. That connects that Azeroth most likely is beckoning the elements to destroy titan machinery and artifacts.
Elements are noted as a major problem for Titans and Titan creations with the elementals put away in the elemental planes, and certain elemental races subjugated in different ways. Tyr trying to make the evolved from elementals dragons in line with the titans philosophies and all ordered, and the stormrooks chained and ordered after causing chaos among titan facilities after being summoned by the two giant rams.
Harandar is a showcase of Azeroth's lasting power, being gone for over twenty thousand years from there, but her song and light, torment and pain are still there. The rift of aln is full of nightmares and not fully realized apparitions, like that of chimeraeus the undreamt god.
Azeroth is begging to be free, and connect with her Azerothians, her people. And with the story... its yet to see what's going to happen. With both Xal'atath and the Titans to be faught. But there is a large Titan conspiracy encapsulating all of Azeroth, LITERALLY when the Titans put a veil around Azeroth. Their machines even besides the heart of Azeroth the energy emitting from them is the same color as Azeroth's essence.
Our world is being tortured by Tyrants, not of our land, not of Azeroth, controlling her, torturing her, removing her free will and brainwashing her, and using her to fuel their domination of her.
The power of re-origination used to defeat N'zoth was Azeroth's. If re-origination in Wrath succeeded her own power would have been used to wipe out all of her people, against her will. The people, who are her hope of being saved.
The world soul saga is a story of revealing her torment ans the titan conspiracy and in the Last Titan we will be fighting for her, TRULY. Not like Azeroth to have her healed, but to set her FREE.
