Item Idea, Alien rpg style:

Your character has to carry around a Geiger counter (to detect radiation) as well as a Giger counter (to detect scenery and technology designed by H. R. Giger).

Mechanically, you can try to dial in on alien devices or structures with a Comtech roll. One success tells you if there are any within Extreme range, multiple successes will tell you direction and distance. The device also operates passively, allowing the GM to ominously inform you that you’re approaching something Gigeresque - or worse, it’s approaching you. Whenever you use the active search, make a Power Supply roll. The counter has a Power Supply of 3 when fully charged.
