"He's my maker, we're not even blood" doesn't work when we have seen their bond which was also forged through their shared black vampiric identity but what do u expect from a season that uses race as nothing but a punchline

what really gets me is that this show is so determined to break every promise it made in previous seasons to treat its Black, queer, & female characters with dignity in order to tell a new story that’s not even good. truly the poster child for destroying & betraying yourself for nothing 😭

so lets get this straight... in season 2, sam didn't want lestat to laugh during the louvre scene, but rolin insisted. this season, we skip over the vampire armand chapter of the vampire lestat, which includes his backstory abt being trafficked & a csa victim. we have lestat sing a song alluding to armands history of sexual abuse that's kind of meant to be a shitty thing but also somewhat "justified" (based on what cast & crew have been saying). we see armands fathermakergroomer before any of the history/context between armand & marius. and then we have armand and daniel release a video of lestat being incestuously abused by his mother??? without any sort of commentary on anything??? not to mention the line abt armand erasing the memories of daniel "using a student aggressively" and im supposed to believe this show cares about his character?

I can't even look at anything on the main iwtv tag anymore because I just find more shit to be pissed off at like oh a sweet parallel between s1 and s3 scenes of loustat touching fingers. So romantic as long as you ignore how one of these scenes is highlighting the struggles of being queer and black in a deeply bigoted society while the other is I guess what passes for gripping romance in a season that refuses to show queer intimacy beyond a couple of seconds of scandalous kissing with random people.

rolin jones choosing to adapt a book series where he seemingly hates every single character besides the main guy and even then doesn't actually understand HIM as a character is so fucking.... idk would be funny if it wasn't so fucking appaling !!!
