The Rolling Tea Cart

The Rolling Tea Cart in Charleston, South Carolina! Camelias tea room is located in the Hotel Bennet in Charleston, off Marion square. It is a cozy, pink art deco style tea room off the lobby, and offers a respite from the bustling street. The afternoon tea requires reservations. They brought out a complimentary house made slice of cornbread with honey butter which was a nice treat. The first course is the sandwiches, the first of which was a truffle deviled egg salad, topped with fresh dill. And a tart of tomato goat cheese with fig, and a cucumber. Hole filled with salmon salad tartine. Additional sandwiches were an open faced roast beef with horseradish and toasted shallots, and chicken bacon sandwich on a croissant. The dessert tray is next, including a blueberry tart with pistachio cream, a Venezuelan chocolate cake, cookies and cream truffle, coconut macaroon and cranberry orange scone, mini Madeline served with lemon curd and clotted cream. All were delicious. For the tea I tried the Hotel Bennett blend which had some fruity notes of pineapple and strawberry. This is brewed in house and delivered pre-brewed in a teapot, but I also tried the mad hatter's tea party flavor which brews at the table and they provide a tee timer for brewing. Overall it was a very elegant experience, set on a backdrop of beautiful Charleston.

The tea sandwiches had salmon, roe and even confit duck salad. The presentation was wonderful and perfect for spring in the city.

The Rolling Tea Cart visits Michigan! In October, the Edsel Ford House hosts a fall colors tea. It is a yearly event and prepaid reservations are required. The tea includes a tour of the Edsel Ford House, and you can walk the grounds and gardens after your meal. Tea is served by the bag in individual pots, and the three-tiered tray was brought out for each table. Scones are served with fig jam and cream, and the tray of sandwiches included cucumber, squash, roast beef, chicken Wellington and shrimp egg rolls. The desserts included a lemon curd tart, macarons, cake pops, and eclairs. Overall a very elegant experience, and the view overlooking the Ford House grounds and Lake St. Claire was breathtaking.

The Rolling Tea Cart ventured to Richmond today the Petersham Nursery for their garden afternoon tea. The tea is served either in their greenhouse or garden and is decorated with flowers grown at the nursery. We enjoyed herbal and green teas, chicken salad with tarragon wraps, egg and mayo sandwiches and an assortment of other savories. The scones were served with traditional clotted cream and house made strawberry preserves. The entire spread was served on their custom tiered tray with a vase on top to display the bright, seasonal floral arrangements. Lovely!

Today we had the pleasure of visiting the famous Fortnum and Mason department store in central London where the tea specialists worked with us to design our own custom tea blend. We started with a base of black rose tea, added Assam and other special custom blended ingredients to craft our signature recipe. We are so excited to bring this back home for our upcoming tea boxes!

Overall, the Lunar New Year themed afternoon tea at the St. Regis hotel in San Francisco was an unforgettable experience. From the elegant atmosphere to the delicious tea and dumplings, every aspect of the experience was thoughtfully curated to create a truly special occasion. The Rolling Tea Cart in Thailand! Today we visited the luxurious Anantara resort in beautiful Chiang Mai for their afternoon tea. The outdoor setting is directly on the river with a stunning view of the boats sailing by. The tea was unique, beginning with a cold passionfruit green tea, followed by a full spread of buttery scones with exotic jams. Next, we enjoyed the traditional sandwiches of cucumber, ham and salmon. The desserts used local tropical flavors like passionfruit, guava and coconut. Our teas were monsoon Oolong from neighboring Myanmar. Exceptional!

The Rolling Tea Cart in Melbourne! We were able to enjoy an afternoon tea fit for the Queen at the Westin Melbourne. We chose their seasonal option which was autumn (backwards from the US). The tea included leaf shortbreads, loose jasmine tea, salmon sandwiches and miniature meat pies. Exquisitely done down under!

Welcome Autumn! The Rolling Tea Cart welcomed the season with fresh apple picking and pumpkin patching at the famous Pattersons’ Farm in NE Ohio. We gathered tons of apples and seasonal items for our new fall menu. We are excited to announce our favorite seasonal additions to our menu- Apple Cinnamon scones and apple cupcakes with salted caramel icing. It is the best time of year in Ohio and we are proud to show our local roots in this seasonal menu. Next up- pumpkins!

The Rolling Tea Cart enjoyed a Malaysian tea in Alameda, California. We joined the afternoon seating at Malaya, a new tearoom that is Malay themed and the experience was lovely and unique. We were served coconut tea, curry chicken sandwiches and sweet jelly desserts. The owner makes all the food herself and every table is hand prepared.

The Rolling Tea Cart is back in Dublin! Yesterday we stepped off the plane and went straight to the famous afternoon tea at the Shelbourne Hotel on St. Stephen’s Green. This is our second visit to the luxurious spot and it didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed smoked salmon, egg and cress and chicken avocado sandwiches as well as warm scones with Devon cream and homemade raspberry jam. The desserts were plenty, handcrafted immaculately by their in house French pastry chef. Our favorite was the chocolate caramel torte with gold leaf and peanuts.

The Rolling Tea Cart is exploring tea rooms around the Great Lakes region of the U.S.! We visited the Cotswold Cottage in Greenfield Village located in the Henry Ford Museum (Dearborn, Michigan) last weekend and enjoyed a relaxing break from walking around the exhibits. We opted for the “Sweets Service” which included lemon scones, macarons, and other assorted pastries garnished with fresh fruit. The tea selection offered two types of tea with or without caffeine. The garden setting was charming and offered plentiful shade from umbrellas at each table. On our next visit we will have the  “Full Tea Experience” which includes a selection of tea sandwiches.

The Rolling Teacart is back in Dublin! Today we visited the famed Westbury Hotel for their afternoon tea. Located just off Grafton street, we took a break from shopping to sit down with a cup of white tea and lovely Irish scones with clotted cream. The tea was served with a glass of champagne (of course!) and a variety of sandwiches like egg and cress and creamy chicken salad on brioche. The desserts were handmade by their pastry chef. Lovely!

Rolling Tea Cart back in San Francisco! Today we visited the recently reopened Sip Tea House in the Sunset District of San Francisco. It was pride weekend and they celebrate with rainbow decorations and wigs! We enjoyed mint tea, seasonal blueberry scones and homemade desserts while people-watching all the events outside.

The Rolling Tea Cart in London! Today, we checked out London’s newest hit afternoon tea at Sketch in Mayfair. Sketch is currently hosting the famed Mayfair flower show and was top notch- the place to see and be seen! We enjoyed sparkling rosé, curry chicken salad sandwiches, Ceylon rose tea, French desserts and the hot specialty of the season- the royal wedding cake! Elderflower and lemon cake with gorgeous fondant. Everything was chic, hip and immaculate. The tea masters gave perfect recommendations and we sat for hours taking in the decor, the style and fashion. The hit of the London scene and summer kickoff season!

The Rolling Tea Cart in the famous British Cotswolds! We are welcoming spring by getting back to our roots in the English countryside! Today we enjoyed a traditional cream tea in Winchcombe at a local tea and antique shop. We sipped Darjeeling and Earl Grey while smelling the lilacs and roses and overlooking the lovely gardens. A beautiful afternoon, quintessential for enjoying a cup of tea with local preserves and real clotted cream.
