Hmm. Gosh I HOPE this is explained in a way that makes sense… but the way I simplify the characters is that I take both one defining feature of their personality and one feature from their personality in mind when I draw them. SIMPLE SHAPES, USE SIMPLE SHAPES, THE LESS THE BETTER

For Rohan I try to use mostly long rectangles, even though he’s not super tall in canon, I use this shape to emphasize his body difference compared to Koichi, hes meant to also look soggy? Like a Flimsy ragdoll, also his face is always 😐. His sleeve cover his hands to have more blunt edges on his design

Koichi is diffrent, he’s mostly circles, his sleeves and pants are circular at the end to make him look kind of culddly, I often draw his legs and body in a single line,
