Rocket Rascal

If you enjoyed Rocket Rascal, you may be interested in a board game by the same developer, Hero’s Crossing!

It’s a board game about building up a town in a video game RPG and selling resources to heroes who are passing through.

The game has a bunch of lovely pixel art made by some fantastic artists.

It’s a deep strategy game centered on resource management and outwitting your opponents, and it features a bunch of cute heroes, something I know Rocket Rascal fans will dig. It’s not quite out, but it’s in late-stage development and could use your support.

Rocket Rascal was on the Indie Corner for August. Here’s a quick look at some numbers:

Being in the indie corner got the game about 43K views over the course of the entire month. Of those, we had nearly a 4% conversion rate.

That view count is neat but not high by mobile standards. This was probably because the Corner is usually tucked away, requiring several clicks and some scrolling to find.

A 4% conversion rate doesn’t seem bad to me. I don’t know what an average (or good) conversion rate is - a friend of mine reported a 1% conversion rate for a very different kind of game. So I get to humble brag to him. ;)

Our rating count went up considerably - we had 16 before the feature and arrived at 54 total. This came in waves. Some days we’d get 5, and some weeks we’d only get 2.

I’m pretty pleased with where the ratings are sitting. Obviously you want a 5 star game and you never want to see 1 star ratings, but let’s assume that’s unrealistic, especially with Rocket Rascal’s simplicity and brutal difficulty.

Rocket Rascal has been accepted into the Google Play Indie Game corner. So if you were looking for some kinda professional to vet the game before playing it, they’ve done it for you. You can browse through that if you like or get the game for Android here. (and here for iOS!)

Our cross-promotion is still happening with GAMKIN and their game X-Tactics. Their character Kuku is still available in Rocket Rascal, and X-Tactics is still having a special event featuring Rocket Rascal characters and enemies. Their game is out for both Android and iOS too, so check it out.

The game is pretty well received by the people who play it. But we could always use more good words to convince other people to play. So leave some kind words and tell your friends. I know pandering for reviews is never pretty, but this is how we attract other people to have all the fun we know they’ll have when they download the game. ;)

Rocket Rascal is showing up in the Indie Corner on the Google Play Store!

Just a friendly reminder that the game X-Tactics  is having a dope crossover event that is currently underway where you can fight against the sandworms in a fun tactical battle!

In collaboration with GAMKIN, Inc and their game X-Tactics, we’re happy to add Kuku to the Rocket Rascal roster!

And the best part? He’s available *right now.* If you have an internet connection, the next time you start Rocket Rascal, he’ll be added to the list of characters.

What’s more, Rocket Rascal characters are making an appearance in X-Tactics! 

We’ll soon be collaborating with GAMKIN, Inc. to feature something special from their game X-Tactics.  They’ll also have something pretty Rocket Rascaly in their own game.

We’re collaborating with GAMKIN, Inc. on an awesome event between Rocket Rascal and their game X-tactics. 

The details are forthcoming, but know that there are exciting things coming to both games. A collaboration event on their end and a new character and weapon on ours.

To celebrate the launch of 1.1 and as an appreciation to the current batch of players, all coin costs in the game have been reduced by 25%! This applies to unlocking characters and rerolling daily missions.

Take this opportunity to get some of those rare characters you’ve been saving up for. Let your pals know that now is a good time to start playing. Reduced prices will be in through the entire weekend.

As always, ratings / reviews are appreciated. iTunes hides reviews for older versions, so showing this new version some love would really help out.

About 75% of the new features were direct player requests. Here are the full patch notes:

Added character / launcher shuffle for those people that just can’t decide who to play. This will pick a random character or launcher that you own at the start of every game.

Rarity indicators. These show up in the character / launcher select screen.

A new scary obstacle type.

A bunch of new enemy configurations and behaviors to keep the game fresh. Chaser aliens coming from below? We got that.

You’ll be significantly more likely to unlock new characters / launchers instead of duplicates.

Updated visual effects. Got some subtle tweaks in that make a big difference.

There’s now an indicator that shows you your highest distance traveled (starting with the update - previous high distances weren’t tracked).

Fixed a bunch of bugs. Some that were annoyances (some achievements unlocking multiple times between runs) and some that were critical (enemies would stop spawning in rare instances).

The Alien Commander is a nemesis in Double Star, a strategy game out on Google Play for Android. He’s the creation of Wglxy.com. I’ve known his creator for some time, way back in the Alien Star Menace days.

He comes with his very own handheld spaceship that shoots lasers! I was personally very pleased with how both came out.

Petrov 99 is the creation of BSWaldmann in the game How I Learned to Stop Nuclear Winter. In that game you’re usually looking into his computer screen, but you can blow things up with him in Rocket Rascal here for iOS and here for Android.

Prime of @dreamchasersgames‘s Rocket Rally was such a natural fit for Rocket Rascal, which I’m sure is obvious from the name. He shoots rockets in his game, and now he shoots rockets in our game!

He’s the only character with a rocket launcher actually named after him - the Prime Cannon! 

Don’t forget that Quole of Quole’s Quest is in Rocket Rascal! She’s the creation of @prismnova who was wonderful enough to let us put a rocket launcher in her hand and let her blow up aliens.

Quole is a bit... obsessed with birds, so we made a matching bird launcher to go with her.
