Hello TWST fandom, I am sick and feeling like being obnoxious so have some gender and sexuality headcanons from me except Iâm going off of themes not just vibes (no hate to people who do that of course!)
Ace: Either straight (as the requisite ânormalâ guy of the group, as is his role in the narrative) or bisexual and doesnât know yet. Iâm tempted to say asexual for the pun, but heâs too much of a fuckboy (affectionate) for that. Absolutely cisgender.
Deuce: Trans woman. Her journey is one where sheâs trying to change to someone softer and gentler (traits commonly associated with femininity) and abandon a physically violent past in a traditionally male role as a delinquent, whose arc is about achieving her goals while still being able to acknowledge and respect her past. Hasnât thought very hard about her sexuality, personally I think sheâs bisexual.
Cater: Trans man. Arc is about forging his own path, dislikes feminine things because his family forced them on him. Somewhere on the asexuality spectrum, biromantic.
Trey: Cis and gay. Mostly holds affection towards other men, attempts to appear ânormalâ but everyone who talks to him agrees heâs hiding something âweirdâ. Closeted gay man.
Riddle: Does Not Think about his gender. Probably agender but he really doesnât want to think about it. Probably only realizes as an adult. Gay and so deep in the closet heâs in Narnia.
Jack: Gay Macho Mannnnn~ Very into approval from his male authority figures, seems to almost harbour a âpuppy crushâ on Leona. Part of a delinquent subculture which are typically focused around male bonds, though deeply heterosexual, but is unusual in that Jack believes strongly in bonds between men (though he is shy/tsundere about it). Cis.
Ruggie: Has literally never had the time to think about it. Cisgender, pansexual and doesnât believe in love. Really couldnât care less about his self image or identity.
Leona: Gay (ostracized for something he canât control, considered âpredatoryâ for it, is ineligible to be king) and cisgender. All of Savannahclaw are cis (well, the named characters) and there is A Reason for That. (Toxic masculinity babyyyyy)
Floyd: Genderflux/genderweird. Tries out new pronouns constantly. Doesnât believe in the concept of a fixed identity (hates being put in a box or told what to do).
Jade: Trans nonbinary. Letâs hear it for scary enbies! Doesnât bother to tell most people that they arenât cisgender. Uses they and he, but will just straight up lie about their pronouns to gather info. Somewhere on the asexuality spectrum but doesnât bother with a label.
Azul: Definitely trans, either trans masc or trans fem. Could be either-or, tho I lean towards trans masc (wants to be seen as âtougher, leave behind a âsoftâ piece of himself) Arc is about running from his past and having to learn to accept himself for who he was then and how he is now. Definitely does drag. Gay and pretty flamboyant about it on occasion.
Jamil: Might be trans but he has a job :/// Genderfluid but he tries not to think about it. Dislikes labels immensely.
Kalim: Asexual and cisgender. Not out to anybody by virtue of being expected to marry a woman and produce heirs. Tries to not think about his lack of attraction. Feels âbrokenâ :( Both of the Scarabia duo are queer, but neither is allowed to express it (repression themes)
Epel: Very much could be read as a trans man, as is popular interpretation (I donât have to spell this one out for yâall- being pushed into a position that he feels doesnât fit, his dislike of being feminine or regarded as cute, his intense desire to be read as masculine, etc) but I also like the idea that heâs intersex and learning to accept that heâs not totally within the binary (helped by the fact that he has rather feminine features and the fact that the narrative places Vil in the right (most of the time) for pushing Epel towards feminine traits). Thinks heâs straight and is obnoxious about it. (Heâs not straight. Personally, I think heâs gay).
Rook: Already made a post about her but she is so transfem to meeee. Bisexual bisexual bisexual! She loves everyone, regardless of gender, for all genders are beautĂŠ in their own ways!
Vil: Either the only cisgendered member of Pomefiore or trans nonbinary, Iâm undecided. Identifies as Queer, and it is the only label he uses. (Constantly villainized to make a âpure, innocentâ man look good, tired of only playing villains, the queer coding on a lot of villains, his desperate desire to be himself and still be loved)
Ortho: Also already made a post about them, mirror pronouns user who doesnât exactly jive with the idea of gender, but just really wants to be seen as a person. Grows up to have a complicated relationship with sexuality and romance.
Idia: Trans nonbinary but wonât realize it until theyâre on their deathbed. Lives pretty much their whole life in denial and never acknowledges it. Gay, zero attraction to woman whatsoever and has a complicated relationship with sexuality attraction in general. Not necessarily aromantic, but has a hard time identifying romantic attraction. (Forced into a role they donât want, tied to an inevitable fate, lack of self determination, frequently seen as an outsider, ideal self is one outside the box theyâve been placed in, etc) Very queer coded in general tbh.
Sebek: Gay and cis and in denial. Definitely has a puppy crush on Malleus. Has no clue heâs gay. (Most of his strongest bonds are with men, but admittedly most of the cast are guys, but he especially tends to be defensive and aggressive about those bonds and tries to deny them when asked, suppresses part of himself to fit in, crazy tension with Skully, etc)
Silver: Asexual aromantic and agender. (Not interested in love, mostly focused on familial bonds, feels a disconnect from society and itâs expectations for him overall, wants to avoid (and managed to) the role of a masculine âheroâ)
Lilia: When youâre as old as he is, labels become real flexible. Doesnât bother defining what he feels and for whom. (General sense of whimsy, out of the box thinking, subversion of social norms regarding his appearance and actions and enjoyment of such, etc). Also does drag.
Malleus: He is Expected to marry a woman so he never thought too hard about love or sexuality. Heâs probably not straight, but he hasnât done enough reflection to really understand how he feels. Not exactly cisgender but does use he/him so no one ever really thinks about it. Identity is very nebulous in general.
Honestly? Most of these arenât set in stone and I generally headcanon whatever is most interesting for me at the moment. If anything, these are just one set of possible interpretations out of many.
