b) His middle son, who's never been in his brother's level in any princely activity, choosing to be paired up with the one girl who's not only the daughter of the most evil person ever known, but also the starter of the rebel movement

A little comic I started to do for cat day.

At first I only wanted to draw Leona sleeping with other cats (aka Grim and Lucius), then got the funny HC he might sleep in random different position and Ruggie would immortalize those moments XD.

I'm sorry Leona but since Crowley's vignette of him snoring loudly, I see him sleep in 2 ways : a cute way and a messy one. Obviously I love more the second one :3.

Eh,eh. It's long! This is because it also counted the parallels of the Briar/Hopper/Ginger/Faybelle love dynamic with the Daring/Holly/Duchess/Sparrow one. (+ adding Wonderland for @crowsovercity that wanted Courtley).

As i said to @internetgiraffekid1673 some times ago: at the core General Villainy class (so Raven, Ginger, Faybelle, Lizzie, Sparrow and Duchess) are people who are extremely related to each other and extremely...and also Raven somehow!

So wanting to analyze the original relationships in detail

Faybelle and Duchess:

That Duchess and Faybelle are best friends makes perfect sense when you realize that they both need an enabler, but one who lets them run wild with their worst impulses. Not because they love them (Ginger/Sparrow does that. But we'll get to that later) but because it's convenient. Although they are very similar in terms of competitiveness, ambition and perfidy; the difference between Duch' and Fay is that Duchess wants to project an image of goodness, perfection and innocence at all costs. Not because she is manipulative, but because she genuinely believes it is her calling.On the contrary, Faybelle has a larger-than-life self-image and a perhaps even too exaggerated wickedness.So in their dynamic, Faybelle will definitely give Duchess the okay for the worst possible ideas, and Duchess knows that Faybelle will be the one to handle them so she can have the moral high ground.

Faybelle/Ginger and Duchess/Sparrow:

Sparchess and GingerFay are the same dynamic if you think about it: You have a royal, lower in rank than the other princesses and therefore even more proud, who loves to sabotage people.With them there is a trusted person of poor extraction who they think can manipulate for those who are below. However, the commoner eventually abandons them and they realize how much they actually cared about them!

The interesting thing is that Sparrow and Ginger are a bit of opposites, especially in relation to Fay and Duchess.

GingerFay is an essential epic FallOut of childhood friends: From the outside, theirs is a solid friendship, meaning that Faybelle is the dominant one from whom Ginger who is a doormat will never give up on. However ,we know that inside of her Ginger kinda cut that frienship for a much healthy envroiment. Faybelle herself seems to care a lot about Ginger, so much so that she wants to involve her in being "bad together".Even though she treats her badly, Faybelle is very attached to Ginger, and is hurt when she acts rebellious.

Sparrow is the exact opposite of Ginger : If Ginger is a sort of morality pet for Faybelle because she's cute and passive; Duchess hangs out with Sparrow because he's a tiger! He's bold and assertive without too many problems - He's her evil soulmate. In fact, if Ginger tolerates Faybelle for the sake of their old friendship (I shamelessly ship them okay!), I'd say Sparrow's desire to stay with Duchess even when it doesn't benefit him (see THD) it's probably rotted in some love feeling that they themselves aren't willing to face

She does Super weird shit to Cerise’s themes and worse they don’t even develop hers because the brand was being murdered at the time. …We didn’t even get a Doll :(

Ok, so like, Originally, Cerise is supposed to be both. That’s the point. She’s the daughter of Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t perfectly fill both roles, nor can she completely ignore either. Cerise, as the only child of both Protagonist and Antagonist, can’t possibly menace herself. She will be living proof of whatever conclusion the universe comes to on Destiny. If there’s a sibling, well, that actually solves more of her problems than it creates. Being forced to hurt someone you love for the story is pretty par for the course in Ever After.

There’s a really interesting concept in Only Child Cerise in being both, and in having to pick one to be to the world, the “better” one, for her safety, for her own good. In the metaphor for a biracial child, in Passing. In the consequences for families in interracial relationships before Loving vs Virginia.

Professor Badwolf is presented as a loving father who is as present as is possible. Who is trying his hardest to be there for a family that will be punished for their association with him. His absence and distance from Cerise’s public life is both protection and a sacrifice. One he undertakes voluntarily. It would be a bit different, for Ramona, as a child, to be forced into this dynamic, a kid that they sent off to another school, away from even her Father, to be trained as a villain, to be considered a Danger to her Sister.

Those themes actually get a little dire in a situation where one child is chosen to go on the opposite side of that fence. In the unfortunate consequences of the retcon introduction of Ramona meaning she is excluded from those scenes of the Badwolf-Hoods even in private, as a perfect family. In what it means about the biases and cruelties and priorities of those parents that isn’t called into question if they only have One Child they’re trying to give the best life possible. Even if it means enforcing something that hurts her.

Still, Ramona isn’t pointless, even or especially in the context of other siblings in Ever After High, like the Charmings, and the O’Hairs.

I just think Cerise and Ramona could very easily have a pretty fucked sibling relationship. You know, given that they’re basically identical and one of them got designated the Bad Child and the other got oppressively policed in her every action to hide the similarities. Each resenting the other for living the half of their life they’ve been denied.

I think about how it’s the Parents that pick what fairytale their child follows a lot. I think about how age affects favor and how “destiny” is directed by what the more important fairytale is. The uncertainty about what story specifically a child will follow, and those assumptions made by adults treated as fact, shaping the way that those children are treated, how they’ll grow up.

Poppy and Holly are twins but only one gets the destiny, and only one wants the destiny, and only one is technically allowed to pursue it.

Daring was always supposed to be Apple’s Prince, but he isn’t. Darling was never supposed to be anything but a damsel, but she is. Dexter is arguably both free and neglected, as a Prince without a set story. That uncertainty affecting him socially and within his family as he is a Royal facing a similar uncertainty as to his future as all the Rebels.

Raven in the books having a little brother. One that’s Good.

Ramona was born first, a year earlier, and she’d been, from the beginning, her father’s daughter. Something she didn’t understand until later. She was still small and wobbling and overwhelmed my loud noises and bad smells when she met her sister for the first time. It was a secret. It was the most foundational lesson of her childhood. The one thing that made everything else happen. Her almost twin that looked like her and had to hide her twitchy sensitive ears. Who squirmed in her arms and wasn’t allowed to hunt the same way that she wasn’t allowed to go to the cottage. Warmth and brightness and good smells and other things she wasn’t supposed to have. Her Father’s daughter and no one ever asked who else’s. She’s alone and alone and alone, off at a different school and away learning different things and getting hard and sharp and rebellious and a little mean because she’s never been the one in the soft warm cottage that bakes with her pack. With the same fangs as her sister and a rattle in her throat that was never allowed to be anything but a growl.
