ELECTRIC SHEEP

at the mention of her hair, she tucks a piece of it behind her ear, a small little smile there. it feels soft, which is surprising considering how dry and coarse it usually is. 

but it fades when kat asks the question, but she gets a half laugh from the witch. 

“yeah, i’m eating enough.” most days. “and just      the usual. trying to avoid trouble and yet it always seem to find me. that sort of thing. what about you?”

 she's careful not to pry too hard -- it's difficult as it is to get a straight answer, in their line of work.

his eyes glitter with amusement. it sounds like a fun night and he gets paid for it. there’s a voice in the back of his mind telling him he shouldn’t be doing something probably illegal while his superhero fiancee is out patrolling the streets, but he can’t resist something like this. 

  “can i know what you’re dropping off or is that all hush-hush? i can keep a pretty good secret, just so you know. tight lips and all that. besides, it’s about time you shared something with me.” 

she doesn't like dragging her friends into her work -- don't mix business with pleasure, don't shit where you eat, yadda yadda yadda. but sam's nice. and trustworthy. and probably has a good playlist for the car ride over. van lofen's careful enough. it'll be ok -- right?

there isn’t a lot. mostly pictures in yearbooks she never owned. maybe some that other parents caught of her when she played with their kids. there’s a photo of her in her art class next to a painting that won an award. 

“y’know, you could go to a salon. i know a girl, she does my hair. real friendly.” 

too friendly sometimes. eliza is a nice person, but cathryn finds it bothersome sometimes. “she’ll probably give you a good deal.” 

it's a rare thing to see van lofen considering self-care for once. how many times has she gone to an actual salon? look at the haphazardly cut, poorly-tamed mess on her head.

' huh. sounds good. your hair is practically magic, anyway. '

     in fact it seems he didn’t trip. he actually didn’t even notice something had happened until they called out to him as they had thought something did happen. what actually happened was he had walked straight through the cord, cleaning cutting one half of the cord from the other.

         ‘ oh shit, oh my god. i’m so sorry. i can pay for that. ‘

' no, no, my apologies, really, shouldn't have been so careless with my stuff --'

there goes her charger. oh well -- those weren't too hard to find, she was obviously more worried about damaging someone rather than something. she's still not... exactly sure how he'd managed to cut a cord in half, but... it happens. right?
