Letâs look at Grayson #13
Any excuse to get Dick naked, right? Yeah, nothing new.
âPrivacy and integrity.â Things Dick doesnât have, we know.
So what vibe did you guys just get from this panel? To me, it looks like this woman just touched Dick inappropriately, causing him to react. In the next panel, she has a smitten look on her face and now wants to be on a first name basis with him. Lovely. Reminds me of this guy who stalked me on my college campus 3 years ago.
Helena witnessed the whole thing and only says. âDoctor Netz, your⌠thoroughness is appreciated.â Nice implication here, right? Doesnât it give you the vibe that this woman was pushing beyond her professional boundaries in order to invade Dickâs personal space? I imagine she was very thorough considering this is the same woman who sexually harassed Dick previously and keeps making creepy comments about his body, like that one time she flat out told Dick she was going to write gay smut fanfictions about him in Grayson #4.
âClinging to young herr Graysonâs beautifully sculpted body.â - Grayson #7
Uh, yeah, have we gotten into the age gap here yet? Because her emphasizing that Dick is âyoungâ is not making this any better to me.
âthe muscle-strength locked into Agent 37â˛s lovely arms.â - Grayson #10
Every single time Iâve seen this woman talk to or about Dick, sheâs obsessing over his body. She does this in front of Helena, the director of Spyral, multiple times. And yet Helena chooses this woman to do a full body search on Dick where heâs not only naked but canât exactly say ânoâ due to the power imbalance nature of the situation. Not that the Grayson writers would ever write Dick saying ânoâ anyway, though, right? Because this is all so sex positive. It also looks like this woman is recording the entire session on her tablet, which suggests to me that she now has personal footage of Dickâs naked body. Somehow I doubt that would stay private and only get used professionally by her, but what do you guys think?
Have I mentioned that this is the cover?
Dick is not only in bondage but what looks like shibari (kink bondage) with his ass in the air and an expression that doesnât reflect being in danger and needing to get out of the situation (kind of reminds me of tons of female objectification covers).
This. Is. Not. Sex Positivity.
Seeley and King do not know the difference between sex positivity and sexualization or sexual harassment.
Sex positivity is when a person promotes themselves as sexy and is happy with their own feelings about sex.
Hereâs an example of sex positivityâ Pre-52 Kory.
Is that the vibe any of you have been getting from this comic series? Because I sure the hell havenât.
Sexualizing is when other characters dictate that personâs sexiness or how they should feel about sex.
This comic is fucking gross and I hate it. NONE OF THESE MOMENTS are on Dickâs terms. This âsex positivityâ comes entirely from OTHER characters deciding that Dick is sexy to the point where he is flat out being sexually harassed multiple times without the story ever treating it as sexual harassment. His ass cheeks get named and he repeatedly gets referred to by his ass cheeks rather than his own name. Sex positivity? More like âsexual harassment positivity.â In Grayson #13, it flat out looks like that creepy old woman touched Dick on his private parts and yet itâs all just funny and cute, right? Sure, whatever.
