I was browsing through the many, MANY games I have in my PS5 library, when I stumbled across this visual novel, Death Becomes You. I genuinely do not remember buying this game, but I was digging the lesbian murder mystery vibes I was getting from the poster and the description, so I figured I would jump in and grab the Platinum!
Death Becomes You takes place at the Ira Royal Academy, set in a world where everyone uses magic. Our main character is a first-year student - I named her "Cara" in my playthroughs - who is meeting up with her best friend Lyra for the first time since they had an argument. When she arrives, though, she is horrified to see Lyra get pushed to her death from the top floor balcony. The gruesome scene is immediately found by four other students - ice queen Daniella, friendly Apolline, mysterious Sophie, and flighty Alice - who are all quick to accuse Cara of murdering her. Now Cara has to investigate each of these girls in order to figure out which of them is the real killer before they force her to take the fall.
I started off playing the game blind, with zero clue what to expect. The gameplay is pretty simple - all you do is choose between two of the four girls to either investigate or spend time with, which progresses the story. I ended up mostly spending time with Daniella, and I was enjoying the unfolding mystery...
...and then my first playthrough came to an unexpected end with 11 trophies when I was suddenly murdered out of nowhere due to seemingly knowing too much.
1/28: Coffee - You had a cup of coffee with Apolline.
2/28: Daniella - You visited Daniella at her office.
3/28: Herbal Medicine - You received medicine from Alice.
4/28: Alice - You visited Alice at her dorm room.
5/28: Feather - You received a good luck charm from Apolline.
6/28: Apolline - You ran into Apolline in the forest.
7/28: Mind Notes - You received class notes from Sophie.
8/28: Sophie - You found Sophie in the library.
9/28: First Investigation - You selected your first investigation.
10/28: Taxidermy - You received a taxidermy from Daniella.
11/28: The Substitute Mentor - You were poisoned by Apolline.
At first I was really frustrated by this, but then I did some research and discovered that this is actually how the game works. You have to explore as many choices as possible to learn more and more about what truly happened to Lyra and what her relationship was with each of the four girls, and each time you get a different ending, you are able to make new choices that help you learn even more.
So I decided to find a simple spoiler-free guide online to help me get all the remaining endings and get the Platinum. Most of the endings involved Cara getting murdered, but I was able to quickly mop up several endings thanks to the game letting you skip dialogue you have already seen.
12/28: The Prodigy - Your magic was siphoned by Sophie.
13/28: Apolline's Enchantment - You were put to sleep forever.
14/28: The New Head Mentor - You caught Daniella at a bad time.
15/28: Alice's Elementals - You fell to a magic that Lyra looked down on.
16/28: Cake - You received a homemade cake from Daniella.
17/28: Stuck in Wonderland - You failed to change Sophie and Alice's perspective.
18/28: Novel - You received a handwritten novel from Sophie.
19/28: The Rabbit - You lost the anchor between the physical and mental realms.
Eventually I got to a point where I had unlocked enough endings that I was able to actually get a happy ending where I didn't die! I won't spoil what the truth about Lyra's murder is, but I definitely felt very satisfied once I was finally able to put the clues together.
20/28: Crochet - You received some crochet from Alice.
21/28: True End - You let Lyra go for good.
22/28: Sophie, Alice, and I - Your relationship with Sophie and Alice deepened.
After that, I kept following the guide until I had gotten all 13 endings, which left me with 26 trophies total!
23/28: Sophie's Psychokinesis - Your magic was ripped out of you.
24/28: Necromancy - You failed to change Daniella and Apolline's perspective.
25/28: Daniella, Apolline, and I - Your relationship with Daniella and Apolline deepened.
26/28: Daniella's Crystal Taxidermy - You were preserved in sculpture form forever.
After that, all I had to do was start a new game. With all of the endings completed, you actually get a new opening when you start the game over, showing Cara as a second year reminiscing about her "strange" first year. I presume that opening means that, if you play the game after getting all the endings, you won't ever get a death ending, but since I immediately got the Platinum once I started a new game, I didn't finish the playthrough to find out.
27/28: A New Year - From mentor to mentee.
28/28: Platinum Investigator - Get all other trophies.
This was a fun visual novel. I enjoyed the mystery, and I enjoyed that all four girls had a lot of depth to their characters. Not to mention this game actually has a lot of really good messages about toxic relationships and how to move on from them. I probably won't ever play it again, but I say it is worth a shot! Also, it's very lesbian.

RJ's Platinum Collection #100: What Remains of Edith Finch
Achieved on 7/1/2026 at 7:17 PM
I have been getting Platinums ever since I won my PS5 in a raffle back in 2022. I used to be a little obsessive over it, trying to get the Platinum for every single game I could get my hands on, but I realized that trying to do that was taking all of the fun out of gaming for me, and now Platinum hunting is just a casual hobby I do to unwind.
I do give mad props to people who make a living off of getting Platinums, though, that takes a lot of time, dedication, and resolve that I do not have, haha.
Still, even though I consider getting Platinums a hobby, I was wondering if I should try to do something special for finally unlocking my 100th Platinum trophy. Maybe a really difficult Platinum, or one for a game that had a deep personal connection to me?
But ultimately, I decided to instead make my 100th Platinum a game I had always wanted to try, especially since I know it is very popular with Platinum hunters, but never got the chance to.
And that game is What Remains of Edith Finch.
This game puts us in the shoes of 17-year old pregnant teenager Edith Finch, the last surviving member of the Finch family. The Finch family has a tragic history that goes back almost 500 years. Every single member of the family has died in various horrible ways, leading to the belief that the Finches are cursed. After Edith's mother passes away, leaving her the last Finch alive, she returns to the Finch family home for the first time in years to learn more about her family and their lives.
You guys ever heard of the term "walking simulator"? Well, this game is one of those. You explore the house, following Edith's narration to help you figure out where to go next, and find secret passages in order to visit the bedroom of each deceased Finch family member. The best part of the game is that, in each bedroom, you get to experience different sequences showing each family members' final moments from their perspective, all with different styles, mediums, and even gameplay mechanics! Everything is designed to make the player question on if the "curse" on the family is real or not, and it is all very well done.
Playing through the entire game took me about an hour and 45 minutes, and I only got 3 trophies, but I was so wrapped up in the story that I didn't even really notice!
1/12: G-R-E-G-O-R-Y - Knock all the letters of Gregory's name into the bathtub.
2/12: Everything Ends - Finish all stories.
3/12: Thanks, Johann! - See Johann's name in the ending credits.
With the story finished, I next used the Story Select to go back into some of the sequences in order to get a few miscellaneous trophies that I had missed the first time around. Specifically, I had to replay the stories for Molly, Barbara, Calvin, and Sam; once I had done all of that, I had six more trophies.
4/12: Replay a Story - Replay a story after completing the game.
5/12: Great Owl - Catch 2 rabbits with only 2 swoops.
6/12: Let Him Finish - Let the drunken sailor finish his song.
7/12: Clear the Table - Clear all balls off of the pool table.
8/12: Loop-de-loop-de-loop - Play Calvin's story again.
9/12: Wildlife Photographer - Take a picture of the rabbit outside Odin Finch National Park.
Next, I started a new game so I could knock another trophy out quickly. At the start of the game, you play as Edith walking to the Finch house, and you are given the choice of going down the road or cutting through the woods. Since I went down the road the first time, I took the woods path this time, and unlocked the trophy for taking both ways.
10/12: All Roads - Take both paths to the house.
And lastly, all I had to do was get the trophy for looking into each peephole and telescope. Part of the story is that each deceased family member's rooms are sealed off - which is why Edith has to find secret passages to get into them - but you can get a glimpse into them before you go inside by looking through the peephole's installed in the doors. I checked a list of what doors I needed, and realized I had already done every peephole except for the one in Lewis' door.
So all I needed to do was use Story Select to pop back into Lewis' room, then leave his room and go around to the door, look through the peephole, and wham bam thank you ma'am for my 100th Platinum trophy!
11/12: A Closer Look - Look in all peepholes and telescopes long enough to hear Edith's commentary.
12/12: All Done - Unlock all trophies.
This game took me less than 3 hours to Platinum, but it is honestly an extremely enjoyable experience. The different sequences you play were all really fun, and I feel like there are multiple messages about life, death, and family that you can get from the story of the Finch family. This is definitely a game I would recommend to anyone with a few hours to spare!
I have a lot of games in my library that I played for maybe a day or two and then never touched again for whatever reason. I was going through my library trying to find one of these games to finish, and I ended up choosing this game - Aragami, an action-adventure stealth game that I briefly tried out in 2022. I decided it was time to brush the dust off this game and get its Platinum!
This game sees you playing as the titular Aragami - a spirit of vengeance summoned by Yamiko, a young woman who wants Aragami to help her defeat the Kaiho, an army of light-magic users who have conquered her own people, the shadow-magic using Nisshoku. To do so, Aragami must use his shadow spirit powers to stealthily sneak around various maps to find Talismans to help Yamiko free the Shadow Empress and defeat the Kaiho once and for all...and all before the sun rises and erases Aragami from existence.
There are 13 chapters in the game, and you can earn three types of medals in each chapter based on how you play: Kami medals, for finishing the level without killing any enemies; Yurei medals, for finishing levels without getting spotted by enemies; and Oni medals, for finishing levels after killing every single enemy on the map.
I decided to start by playing the whole game while focusing on getting all the Kami and Yurei medals, as well as finding all Scrolls hidden in each level so I could unlock all Shadow Techniques. Finishing every level without getting caught proved to be the most difficult part of this, and I had to restart levels a lot due to how often I accidentally alerted guards. But eventually I managed to beat the game and finished my first playthrough with 27 trophies.
Side note: I got one single Oni medal on this playthrough because, in the final chapter, the only enemy is the final boss who you have to defeat, which counted as me killing all enemies in the level, I guess.
1/40: There's Always a Choice - Obtain a Kami medal.
2/40: Just the Wind - Obtain a Yurei medal.
3/40: Aragami - Complete Chapter 1.
4/40: Apprentice - Find a scroll.
5/40: The First Step - Unlock your first Shadow Technique.
6/40: I Don't Care! - Skip a cinematic.
7/40: Jumper - Perform 100 Shadow Leaps.
8/40: The Call of the Shadows - Complete Chapter 2.
9/40: Troll - Trigger caution mode on the same guard three times.
10/40: Chimes of the Past - Complete Chapter 3.
11/40: Lights Out - Destroy a light orb for the first time.
12/40: Paint It Black - Summon 100 shadows.
13/40: The Shaded Woods - Complete Chapter 4.
14/40: The Great Lake - Complete Chapter 5.
15/40: Mausoleum of the Fallen - Complete Chapter 6.
16/40: Kyuryu - Complete Chapter 7.
17/40: The Old Sage - Complete Chapter 8.
18/40: The Last Captain - Complete Chapter 9.
19/40: Military District - Complete Chapter 10.
20/40: The Sixth Talisman - Complete Chapter 11.
21/40: Shadow Master - Find all Scrolls.
22/40: Almighty - Unlock all the Shadow Techniques.
23/40: Ascension - Complete Chapter 12.
24/40: No Witnesses - Obtain an Oni medal.
25/40: Pacifist - Obtain all Kami medals.
26/40: Ghost - Obtain all Yurei medals.
27/40: Twin Souls - Complete Chapter 13.
With all of the Yurei and Kami medals won, all I needed to now was replay each of the first 12 levels, but this time I had to make sure to kill every single guard on the whole map. This wasn't too hard, as all of the Shadow Techniques gave me lots of ways to kill enemies - the only annoying thing was that I did end up having to redo a few chapters because I thought I had killed every guard, only to not get the Oni medal at the end of the level.
As I played through each level, I also got all of the trophies related to killing enemies in specific ways and dying in specific ways. Once I finished Chapter 12 with all enemies killed and I got the last Oni medal I needed, I had officially completed the game and popped the Platinum!
28/40: The Darkness - Perform your first Shadow Kill.
29/40: Aggressive Climbing - Perform a Ledge Kill.
31/40: God Eater - Use Shinen to swallow 3 guards at the same time.
32/40: Fear the Aragami - Kill 100 enemies.
33/40: Aragami!? Aragami!! - Die. Again. And again.
34/40: Face Off - Get killed by an arrow while throwing a kunai.
35/40: Dishonored - Die while performing a stealth kill.
36/40: Gravity Rush - Perform an aerial kill from a 10-meter height.
37/40: Up and Down - Perform a Ceiling Kill.
38/40: Their Own Medicine - Use an explosive light to kill a guard.
39/40: God of Death - Obtain all Oni medals.
40/40: Legend - Obtain all trophies.
This is a short but very fun and challenging stealth game! It was a lot of fun going around and trying to find the best way to avoid detection and complete objectives, and the plot twist in the final chapter was really good. I definitely recommend Aragami for anyone seeking a fun time!
I have never been to England, but I assume that this game is an extremely accurate representation about what living in a small town in England is like. Hehe.
In my quest to find a few easy Platinums to help me reach my goal of getting 150 by the end of the year, I discovered this quirky little game created by a pair of British lads under the name Coal Supper, who based it on a series of sketch comedy skits they made poking fun at their childhood hometown in Northern England. Indeed, I don't believe we've ever had a game that was more British than this game, and I had a great time getting its Platinum!
This game puts us in the shoes of an extremely tiny yellow Salesman who travels to the delightfully weird town of Barnsworth for a meeting with the town's Mayor. When he finds the Mayor is busy with other appointments, however, he decides to explore the town, and gets caught up in helping the town's wacky residents with their problems. These range from funny normal problems like helping someone who's arm is stuck in a grate - to super surreal dilemmas like helping someone grow a sentient tomato or entering a nightmare meat dimension to get the meat for a local pie shop. While I'm sure the jokes would have landed harder if I was actually British, I still enjoyed the game's absurd sense of humor as I played the game.
You only have two controls in the entire game - jumping and slapping, which works as like a universal tool. Indeed, I managed to unlock most of the trophies in my first blind playthrough simply by slapping everything in sight as I circled the town several times in order to complete all the main quests. I ended up finishing the game in a little under 2 hours and got a total of 26 trophies.
1/33: Visit Barnsworth - Leave reception.
2/33: A Lovely Pair - Mow the grass.
3/33: Sick as a Fig - Put Ronny in the recovery position.
4/33: In For A Penny - Free Charlie's hand.
5/33: A Fine Mess - Help Kerri stack the shelves.
6/33: Lights Out - Bully Charlie.
7/33: Final Form - Find all of Sam's meat bits.
8/33: Enough for Everyone - Bake a pie.
9/33: The Rat Pack - Find all of the singing mice.
10/33: The Beans are on the Windowsill! - Satiate Brigadier Bean Tin.
11/33: Everything Must Go - Help Nick open a new shop.
12/33: Cream of the Crop - Grow a lovely tomato.
13/33: Green Fingers - Go against Graham's advice.
14/33: Bobby Knocker - Hit every closed door.
15/33: Open For Business - Fix the fryer.
16/33: The Ol' One Two - Watch Bobby's party trick.
17/33: The People's Princess - Smash a commemorative plate.
18/33: Tough Tatties - Help Marge chop up her chippies.
19/33: Milk Shy No More - Have a nice cup of tea.
20/33: Still at Large - Capture a notorious criminal.
21/33: Shell Shocked - Rid Sue of her snail problem.
22/33: Mole Supper - An invitation rescinded.
23/33: Cheek to Cheek - Harass a service worker.
24/33: Spill the Beans - Kick a man while he's down.
25/33: Breakfast in Bed - Go soup shopping.
26/33: Thank Goodness It's Over! - Finish the game.
Now it was time to clean up the trophies. First, I started a new game so I could get the trophy for the secret ending.
The game always starts with the Salesman sitting in a chair in the reception area of the Mayor's Office. Most players immediately get up and leave the building - but as it turns out, if you just stay in the chair for 15 minutes in real time, the Mayor will eventually come out of his office to invite you inside for your meeting. Meaning the game ends right then and there and you don't actually explore Barnsworth at all!
So I just left the game running while I did some chores until the 15 minutes passed, then I got the secret ending and another trophy.
27/33: Patience is a Virtue - Wait in reception.
Next, I had to do another full run of the game, but this time focusing on getting all the trophies I missed the first time around. Luckily, this wasn't very many, as I only had to get the collectibles I missed, as well as three other miscellaneous trophies. By only going for these trophies and breezing through all the main quests, I ended up finishing my second full playthrough in less than an hour, by the end of which I had a shiny new Platinum trophy!
28/33: No Post on Thuesdays - Damage every postbox.
29/33: Ménage à trois - Visit Polly and Paul in their home.
30/33: Friend of the Forest - Find all of the woodland creatures.
31/33: Think F.A.S.T. - Learn about Larry's favorite drinks.
32/33: Done Up Like A Kipper - Satisfy a fishmonger.
33/33: Barnsworth's Best - Unlocked all other trophies.
This game was pretty funny, and I really enjoyed this surreal take on British small town life. It was also an easy Platinum that still felt like a fully fleshed out game, so I definitely recommend it to any fellow Platinum hunters!
RJ's Platinum Collection #97: Persona 4: Dancing All Night
Achieved on 6/21/2026 at 10:12 PM
So as you all know, I am a HUGE fan of the Persona series. And my intense love for the series was recently reawakened when we got a full trailer for Persona 4 Revival AND a teaser trailer for Persona 6 on the same day!
It made me want to try to get the Platinums for all the Persona spin-off games I had in my game library. And since they just launched the trailer for Revival, I figured the best game to start with would be the Persona 4 dancing game!
Yes, there are Persona dancing games. Three of them! But unlike the other two, this one is actually good!
So, Dancing All Night takes place a few months after the events of Persona 4. Best girl Rise is making her official comeback as an idol, and has asked the rest of the Investigation Team to join her as back-up dancers at the big Love Meets Bonds Music Festival. However, the group hear rumors of a disturbing video of a dead idol that can only be seen at midnight, leading to the discovery that idols are being kidnapped and brought to a mysterious dimension known as the Midnight Stage. The team enters the Midnight Stage to rescue them, only to discover that they cannot fight in this world. So how do they defeat shadows now?
Why, with the power of DANCE of course!
I started off by playing through the story mode. Although I did like the story and the new characters, the visual novel style of the story was a bit of a slog to get through. At one point I think I went through over an hour of dialogue before I got to the next dancing sequence. But I do think that, ultimately, the story was well done and the message of not being afraid to express your true self fit very well with the Persona 4 cast. By the time I finished the final chapter, I had 9 trophies.
1/40: The Festival Begins - Completed Chapter 1.
2/40: Working Together - Triggered a Bond Fever at least once.
3/40: Closing Night - Rescued Tamami Uesugi.
4/40: A Night to Remember - Rescued Tomoe Sayama.
5/40: Tidy Up Your Toys - Rescued Sumomo Ujima.
6/40: Standing Room Only - Rescued Nozomi Nakahara.
7/40: Bearwell! - Completed Chapter 4.
8/40: The Empress Dethroned - Rescued Kyoka Ochimizu.
9/40: Bond Dancers, Go! - Got through to Mikuratana-no-Kami.
Now it was time to clean up the other trophies! First, I went into the Shop and bought a specific item in order to unlock Margaret's bonus dance.
10/40: Time to Party Harder - Margaret joins the dance.
After that, I next tackled Free Dance. This is a mode where you can play any of the game's 27 different music tracks, which can all be played on Easy, Normal, or Hard mode. I had to successfully clear all 27 songs in order to get a trophy, so I just played through each song on Normal. I also periodically dipped into the Shop to buy costumes as I got money. Once I finished Margaret's song and officially played every song in Free Dance, I had gained another 13 trophies.
11/40: Appearance Matters - Bought a costume for the first time.
12/40: Fashion Police - Changed your costume and began dancing.
13/40: The Final Touch - Equipped an accessory and began dancing.
14/40: What's a "Miss"? - Cleared a track with no Misses.
15/40: Hit the Dance Floor - Cleared 1 track in Free Dance.
16/40: Empty Seats - A performance ended prematurely.
17/40: New Personal Best - Beat your own high score.
18/40: Dream Team - Paired Rise and Kanami in Free Dance.
19/40: That Familiar Rush - Watched replay data from Score.
20/40: Inseparable - Triggered 30 types of Bond Fevers.
21/40: Beauty and the Beast - Seen all Bond Fevers between Naoto and Kanji.
22/40: Costume Coordinator - Cleared a track with each character in a costume.
23/40: The Party Never Ends - Cleared all tracks in Free Dance.
Clearing all tracks in Free Dance will unlock a special bonus chapter in Story Mode that sees everyone back in Inaba enjoying their summer break together. This bonus chapter had no dancing and was just straight up dialogue, so I used the Skip button to speed through it. Once it was finished, I got the trophy for watching all story events. I then got another quick trophy by opening up the Database to confirm that I had unlocked every entry.
24/40: Historian - Watched all events in Story Mode.
25/40: I Am Thou, Thou Art I - Completed the Database.
Now, I needed to get the trophies for seeing all Bond Fevers between specific characters.
During dances, you can hit these special notes called Scratch Notes in order to fill up a Fever Gauge - if you fill the Gauge up by a certain point in the song, another character will jump in to join the main dancer for a short duet dance. It is very adorable seeing the Investigation Team having so much fun dancing together.
I had already gotten the trophy for seeing all of Naoto and Kanji's Bond Fevers during my playthrough of Free Dance, so I needed to see all of the duets between Yu and Rise, Yukiko and Chie, and Yosuke and Teddie, as well as every single dance that Nanako can appear in as both main dancer and duet partner. This ended up being the hardest part of the playthrough, as a few of the Bond Fevers can only be seen if you play songs on Hard Mode. And as the name suggests, Hard Mode is really fucking hard. And the Bond Fever only counts as "seen" if you clear the song - so even if I unlock the Bond Fever, it won't count for the trophy if I go on to fail the song.
I ended up having to use a bunch of items to make clearing the Hard Mode songs easier, and even then some of them took forever. Luckily, with enough patience, I eventually managed to clear all of the necessary tracks and pop all of the trophies, giving me 5 more.
26/40: Perfectionist - Clear a HARD track or higher with 50%+ Perfects.
27/40: Senpai, You're So Cool! - Seen all Bond Fevers between Yu and Rise.
28/40: Red and Green - Seen all Bond Fevers between Yukiko and Chie.
29/40: The Junes Special - Seen all Bond Fevers between Yosuke and Teddie.
30/40: Nanako Forever! - Triggered all dances and Bond Fevers with Nanako.
With those done, I decided to get the three remaining challenge trophies out of the way. These were for clearing a track while using items that made the dances more difficult instead of easier, and the trophies for finishing a song without breaking the combo and for achieving the highest score rank, King Crazy, by never getting anything but Perfects or Greats and hitting all Scratch Notes.
Getting all three of these trophies was actually pretty easy, as I just played the easiest song in the game, "Specialist", on Easy Mode. Still took me a few tries, but I knocked all three trophies out with no real issue doing this.
31/40: Star Dancer - Danced using 2 or more items to raise difficulty.
32/40: Born Entertainer - Obtained King Crazy rank on a track.
33/40: Love Connections - Performed a full combo on a track.
Now all that remained was buying all the rest of the stuff from the Shop - including items, costumes, and accessories. To do this, I ended up doing the opposite of what I did before and played Specialist over and over - but on Hard Mode with a bunch of items that made it even more difficult, which also gave me a shit ton of money at the end of the dance if I cleared it. This was NOT easy at first, but eventually I basically had the button inputs memorized. It took me only a few hours to unlock all of the remaining items I needed using this method.
I also got the trophy for unlocking the hardest difficulty in the game, ALL NIGHT mode, while I was buying stuff, but I have zero clue how I did that. But hey, once I bought the last accessory, I got the Platinum too! Yay!
34/40: Hooked on Shopping - Bought all items.
35/40: Best Dressed - Bought half of the costumes.
36/40: To Greater Heights - Unlocked ALL NIGHT difficulty.
37/40: Regular Customer - Used a total of P$500,000 in Shopping.
38/40: Closet Full of Dreams - Bought all costumes.
39/40: Lapidary - Obtained all accessories.
40/40: Dancing All Night - Obtained all trophies.
I know a lot of people make fun of the Persona dancing spin-offs, but dammit Persona 4: Dancing All Night is fun! It's cheesy and insane but it is also so endearing and the dancing is amazing - everyone dances exactly the way you would think they would, and I love how much attention to detail was put into the dances in this game. This Platinum did frustrate me a bit, but I ultimately had a lot of fun getting it.
I unfortunately will have to play the dancing games for Persona 3 and Persona 5 - because the only way to get Persona 4: Dancing All Night on the PS5 is by buying the digital bundle for all three games, and if I don't get those Platinums too I will feel like I wasted my money - but that is a problem for future me. Present me is very happy I played this game! The Investigation Team remains my favorite Persona cast, so I was very happy to go on a little dancing adventure with them!

RJ's Platinum Collection #96: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sweep the Board!
Achieved on 6/20/2026 at 12:26 AM
You know, out of all the intellectual properties I thought might possibly make a Mario Party rip-off, I would NOT have put Demon Slayer on that list.
Last year, I went through a Demon Slayer hyperfixation, during which I got the Platinum for the first Hinokami Chronicles game. I was having so much fun in the fandom that I ended up making the questionable decision to spend 60 dollars on this game...a decision I quickly came to regret once I saw just how badly it was getting reviewed. I also kind of just assumed that the game would have online trophies, and since it was basically dead-on-arrival, I never actually played it.
However, I recently looked up a trophy guide for the game on a whim, where I discovered for the first time that you can actually get every single trophy in this game completely solo - no online play required! So I decided, what the hell, let's get this Platinum!
Sweep the Board! is basically Mario Party but with a Demon Slayer make-over. Four players take turns rolling dice to move across boards inspired by different arcs from the anime. The boards swap between Day and Night - by Day, players are trying to be the first one to reach the Kasugai Crow. At Night, players are trying to be the first one to find and kill a Greater Demon. Instead of getting stars, the winner is whoever has the most Rank Points by the end of the game.
The game's roster is made up of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Giyuu, Shinobu, Rengoku, Tengen, Muichiro, Mitsuri, Obanai, Sanemi, Genya, Gyomei, and Kanao. Nezuko also appears as a support character at Night to help out whoever is in last place. I just want to let everyone know that I only played as Genya for this entire Platinum playthrough, because Genya is my favorite character and I want to see my precious son WIN.
Anyway, I started by playing a 10-turn game on the first board, getting used to the controls and the rules and the minigames. I actually managed to both win my first game with the highest rank, and got 4 trophies, so I figured the entire game would be a cinch.
1/48: Demon Slayer Corps Hashira - Achieve Hashira rank in the Final Results in "Sweep the Board!" mode.
2/48: Board One Victory - Secure first place in the Final Results on Board One.
3/48: Board One Wayfarer - Complete one game on Board One.
4/48: 100% Certified Slayer - Complete one game in "Sweep the Board!" mode.
But then I played a 10-turn game on the second board and lost bigtime, and then I remembered that Mario Party games are just as much about luck as they are chance. And suddenly I was a little concerned with how long getting this Platinum might actually take.
5/48: Timing Genius - Hit opponents with the biggest snowball five times within the time limit in "All-Out Snowball Fight".
6/48: Board Two Wayfarer - Complete one game on Board Two.
I took a short break from playing games so I could check out the Raffle, which is where you can spend tokens to earn prizes to customize your characters and your Player Card. I ended up getting two quick and easy trophies out of it.
7/48: Raffle Regular - Obtain 10 prizes from the Raffle.
8/48: Your Very First Player Card - Edit your Player Card.
Then I decided to experiment with something. I started a new game on the second board, but this time I lowered the turns to 5 and used the handicap feature to give myself 99 Rank Points at the start of the game. Thanks to that, I was easily able to win the game despite not actually making much ground at all thanks to some crappy dice rolls - and I still popped the trophy for winning on board two! I had wondered if using the handicap might make any victories not count, but I was very delighted to be wrong!
9/48: Eagle Eye - Score 200 points or more with your partner in "Sure Shooter".
10/48: Expert Angler - Score 130 points or more in "Catch the King of the Pond!" within the time limit.
11/48: Board Two Victory - Secure first place in the Final Results on Board Two.
From here, I shamelessly did the same thing on each of the other boards, allowing me to mop up several more trophies. In-between each game, I also spent all my tokens at the Raffle to try to get trophies for unlocking items. By the time I won a game on the fifth and final board, I had gotten another 14 trophies.
12/48: Wardrobe Collector - Collect eight sets of battle attire at the Raffle.
13/48: Board Three Victory - Secure first place in the Final Results on Board Three.
14/48: Board Three Wayfarer - Complete one game on Board Three.
16/48: Intense Girl - Put on a flawless performance without making a single mistake in "Zenko's Zealous Performance".
17/48: Expert Daruma Tapper - Send all of the Daruma blocks flying within 15 seconds perfectly in "Daruma Left, Daruma Right".
18/48: Board Four Victory - Secure first place in the Final Results on Board Four.
19/48: Board Four Wayfarer - Complete one game on Board Four.
20/48: Hyottoko Mask Buff - Score 10 points or more within the time limit in "Mask Match".
21/48: Board Five Victory - Secure first place in the Final Results on Board Five.
22/48: Board Five Wayfarer - Complete one game on Board Five.
23/48: First Class Slayer - Secure first place in the Final Results on every board.
24/48: Frame Collector - Collect 20 frames.
25/48: Stamp Collector - Collect 65 stamps.
With those trophies out of the way, I went into the game's Free Play Mode and started knocking out all the minigame trophies I had not unlocked yet. This ended up being the most difficult part of my playthrough, as several of the minigames themselves gave me a lot of trouble. The worst ones were the sleigh racing minigame and the absolutely evil one where you have to carry a sword as Muscle Mice without bumping into anything. For goodness's sake, I had to plug in a second controller just to get the trophy for the sleigh minigame because the CPU kept fucking me over!
But in the end, getting all of these trophies took me a little less than two hours. Eventually, I managed to finally beat the Muscle Mice minigame, finishing this part of the playthrough with 18 more trophies.
26/48: Girl in the Box - Clear "Nezuko Shuffle!" without making a single mistake.
27/48: Nerves of Steel - Strike the sword three times or more each round without being caught in "Sneaky Sword Styling".
28/48: Photographic Memory - Match card pairs without making a single mistake in "Team Memory Matching".
29/48: Kasugai Sparrow's Dance Partner - Beat "Dance to the Chun!" without making a single mistake.
30/48: Spinning Tops Maestro - Secure first place for a cumulative total of three times in "Boar Rush Spinning Tops".
31/48: Master of the Mansion - Win without making a single mistake in "Don't Miss a Beat! Escape Tsuzumi Mansion".
33/48: Skilled Assessor - Secure victory with five points or more in "Ohajiki".
34/48: Chanbara Expert - Secure first place without getting hit a single time in "Knock 'Em Out! Chanbara Swordplay".
35/48: Relentless Slayer - Win without letting the opposing team score a single point in "Team Badminton".
36/48: Flamboyant and Flashy Slayer - Launch 20 or more fireworks within the time limit in "Tengen's Flashy Fireworks".
37/48: Quickest Draw - Rouse Tanjiro in under 0.3 seconds in "Tanjiro's Total Concentration Training".
38/48: Swamp Demon Pursuer - Score 130 points or higher within the time limit in "Whack-a-Demon".
39/48: The One Who Keeps Jumping - Make it to the end and score 10 points or more within the time limit in "Last One Jumping".
40/48: Culinary Artist - Score 40 points or more in "Food Delivery!" within the time limit.
41/48: Quick to Act - Reach the goal without hitting a single obstacle ion "Dash Down Mt. Sagiri".
42/48: Speed Demon - Ride over ice 15 times or more before reaching the goal in "Demon Sleigh-er, Snowy Sleigh Race".
43/48: Ninju Tamer - Carry the katana to the end without hitting an obstacle in "Muscle, Muscle Delivery!".
Next, I got two more trophies out of the way quickly by playing Endurance Training Mode and Team Brawl Mode. This only took a few minutes since the trophies popped even when I only played 1 single round in each mode.
44/48: Stamina Beast - Put your stamina to the test in Endurance Training Mode.
45/48: Hope for Cooperation - Work with another Slayer Character in Team Brawl Mode.
Now for the final part of getting this Platinum, I had to get up to a total of 20 wins in "Sweep the Board!" mode. This was honestly the worst part of getting this Platinum. Not because it was hard - I used the same strategy as before with using the least amount of turns and giving myself a huge advantage with Rank Points - but because even at only 5 turns per game, it was very time consuming and honestly boring as hell.
I was hoping a demon would burst into the room and kill me by the time I finally won my 20th game, which was the last trophy I needed before I got the Platinum!
47/48: Strongest Slayer - Secure first place in "Sweep the Board!" mode's final results for a cumulative total of 20 times.
48/48: Winner Takes All - Acquired all trophies.
This game was not fun. I kind of enjoyed my first game, and some of the minigames are okay, but all in all the game is clunky, slow, and has very little variety to make it interesting. I don't even think playing with other people would have made it fun. This game only took me 13 hours to Platinum, but that is 13 hours of my life I will never get back.
People just need to stop ripping off Mario Party, honestly. I have yet to find one that was actually fun.
I've mentioned before that I am trying to reach 150 Platinums by the end of 2026. Well, we're almost halfway through the year and I still have more than fifty Platinums to go to reach that goal. I am currently working on several long games, but I realized that going for some easy Platinums (NOT shovelware) as well would probably make my goal a lot more reachable.
So for my next Platinum, I found this cheap but fun looking 2D platformer called Jack 'n' Hat that I knocked out in one sitting!
"Jack 'n' Hat" is about a repairman named Jack who is tasked with rescuing Princess Riri from the evil Dr. Voo Doom with the help of a special hat that you can kill enemies with by throwing it like a boomerang as you travel across different lands, hopping across platforms and trying not to fall into bottomless pits.
It isn't hard to see how much this game was inspired by the classic Mario games.
I have a few Platinums for games like this - 2D platformers that have a decent amount of levels, and yet you can get the Platinum before completing very much of the game. I got 12 trophies by the end of the first level alone.
1/16: First Jumps - Jump 25 times.
2/16: Hat Brawler - Defeat 5 enemies by throwing your hat.
3/16: Hat Swinger - Throw your hat 40 times.
4/16: Treasure Hunter - Get 100 diamonds.
5/16: Just Getting The Hang of It - Died 5 times.
6/16: Good-ole Head Stomping - Defeat 5 enemies by jumping on their heads.
7/16: Eager to Learn - Read 3 hint signs.
8/16: Rest Easy - Activate a Check Point for the first time.
9/16: Explosion Chain! - Cause a TNT explosion chain.
10/16: Crate Breaker - Break 100 crates.
11/16: First Aid Training Paid Off - Used a Medicine.
12/16: The End Of The Beginning - Get the Crystal and clear one level.
The game is split into stages that each consist of four levels, and you need to find a crystal in each level in order to reach the boss of each stage. The four levels I played through had some pretty impressive difficulty spikes - I think it is a mark of a good platformer if you experience high levels of Gamer Rage.
13/16: Hat Beats Gun - Defeat a Green Gunner.
14/16: Beam Me Up, Expo! - Warp into a level 4 times.
Once I unlocked the first boss, I got the last trophy and the Platinum simply for starting the boss fight. I did try to beat the boss, this mercenary named Echo who is pretty much Sonic the Hedgehog in terms of how he fights, but I died 15 times in a row before deciding "You know what, I got the Platinum now, I'm good".
15/16: Boss Encounter! - Get into a fight with Echo.
16/16: Platinum - Get all the trophies.
This game is fun enough, and it is very challenging. However, part of the challenge comes from the fact that the controls kind of suck, and I also frequently ran into a glitch where Jack's hat would disappear, leaving me unable to destroy obstacles or kill enemies. THAT was deeply irritating. However, I still thought this was a pretty well made 2D platformer that is reminiscent of classic platformer games from the 80's and 90's. Probably won't finish it though to be honest.
Way back in 2023, I had gotten hyperfixated on the Ace Attorney fandom, which led to me getting the Platinum for the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, a collection of the first three games starring our favorite spiky-haired defense attorney. I loved it, and I always planned on one day playing the prequel games, which had been released on console in 2021. However, I also felt a bit of sadness at the thought that I might never get to actually play any of the other games in the franchise, since they were all trapped on old handheld consoles...
...until literally one year later, when all the remaining games got ported to console with updated HD graphics! I was super excited and I bought both the Apollo Justice collection and the Ace Attorney Investigations collection, but somehow I didn't actually play either game...
...until now! Where I have decided I was finally going to get all of the remaining Platinums in the franchise - starting with Ace Attorney Investigations!
Ace Attorney Investigations is a collection of two games, both spin-offs of the main Phoenix Wright series. These games, however, put you in the shoes of the prosecutor of all prosecutors himself - Miles Edgeworth! With his days as the "Demon Prosecutor" far behind him, Miles instead has devoted himself to finding the truth above all else and using the law to save innocent people from false accusations. Teaming up with his new sidekick, a wannabe master thief named Kay Faraday, and some old friends - bumbling but loyal detective Dick Gumshoe, and Miles' overcompetitive adopted sister Franziska - Miles must use the power of logic to find the truth and bring forth true justice!
I decided the most reasonable path to the Platinum for this game was to play both games one by one, completing the whole story, and then going back and cleaning up any miscellaneous trophies I may have missed. So of course I started with the first Ace Attorney Investigations games, appropriately subtitled "Miles Edgeworth". This game sees Miles getting wrapped up in several seemingly random murder cases that turn out to all be connected in some way to an international smuggling ring, culminating in a final face-off with the ring's leader in the final case.
I really enjoyed this game for the most part, especially the introduction of Miles' rival, Shi-Long Lang, an Interpol agent who hates prosecutors. He was hilarious and also very hot. I also really liked Kay as the sidekick, and I enjoyed her and Miles' banter. My only critique of this game is that the final case dragged on way too long, but I really enjoyed this first jaunt in Miles Edgeworth's shoes. When I finished the game, I had a total of 15 trophies.
1/30: Everything Old is New - Play the game with HD chibi characters.
2/30: Doing Things My Way - Successfully make a connection during Logic without using Story Mode.
3/30: Objection! - Successfully present the correct evidence during a Rebuttal without using Story Mode.
4/30: Turnabout Visitor - Complete Episode 1 of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
5/30: Friendship...or Pity? - Listen to Gumshoe talk in the hallway about where he thinks "Jim" came from.
6/30: A Prosecutor's True Passions - Examine Edgeworth's seat while investigating with Gumshoe.
7/30: Turnabout Airlines - Complete Episode 2 of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
8/30: The Blue Badger's Daddy - Meet the creator of the Blue Badger in front of the Gatewater Land Main Gate.
9/30: Wright Over Here! - See a familiar face in the distance from the bridge in front of the Main Gate.
10/30: The Kidnapped Turnabout - Complete Episode 3 of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
11/30: Turnabout Reminiscence - Complete Episode 4 of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
12/30: Promises 6 and 7...? - Present Kay's Promise Notebook to her.
13/30: Behind Each Bench - Examine all three benches in the courtroom.
14/30: Turnabout Ablaze - Complete Episode 5 of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
15/30: Lang Zi Says! - Examine both the sword and shield on the Primidux Statue with Agent Lang.
Now it was time for the second game in the collection: "Prosecutor's Gambit"! I was very excited to play this one; unlike the first Investigations game, this is the first time the sequel has ever gotten an official English release. I say "official" because the game was famously translated into English by a team of fans in 2014 under the title "Prosecutor's Path".
Let me tell you, when the game first came out, it was kind of hilarious to see so many people complaining online about how all the characters' official names weren't the same as their fan-translation names. Because like, no shit the official names are different? What did y'all expect? Lol.
This game was phenomenal. I genuinely think this may be the best game I've played in the entire franchise so far. I enjoyed every single case, I loved all of the new characters, and I thought this game had the best writing of any Ace Attorney game I have played. The plot of Prosecutor's Gambit sees Miles and Kay investigating a seemingly isolated incident of an attempted assassination that quickly spirals into a wild conspiracy, all while Judge Verity Gavèlle, leader of the Committee for Prosecutorial Excellence, seeks to remove Miles from his role as a prosecutor and replace him with the charmingly incompetent rookie Eustace Winner. All the ensuing mayhem forces Miles to reflect deeply on what it means to be a prosecutor...and I loved every second of it!
Finishing this game earned me another 13 trophies.
16/30: Checkmate - Successfully checkmate an opponent in Mind Chess without using Story Mode.
17/30: Fond Memories, Detective - Examine the signpost on the left-hand side of the Spectator Area.
24/30: Glasses Battle - Listen to Ema Skye talk in the Storeroom about how her studies abroad are going.
25/30: A Turnabout Forsaken - Complete Episode 4 of Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit.
26/30: Turnabout for the Ages - Complete Episode 5 of Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit.
27/30: Wright Over There! - Examine the side gate twice to see a familiar face.
28/30: How Could You, Sir!? - Say the worst possible thing to Eustace during his Mind Chess match.
With both games in the collection completed, all I had to do was open up the Gallery to confirm I had unlocked all characters and images, and BOOM - I had myself the Platinum trophy!
29/30: A Well-Worn Organizer - Unlock everything in the Gallery.
30/30: Miles Edgeworth: Ace Investigator - For being awarded all other accolades.
I really enjoyed this collection of games! I will say that, after I finished Prosecutor's Gambit, I definitely felt like it was a MUCH better game than the first game, but overall, I definitely recommend that any Ace Attorney fan play the Investigations series!
During one of my recent YouTube binges, I stumbled upon a video of someone playing and reviewing a video game from 2002 called "Disaster Report". The game was about a reporter trying to escape an artificial island city after it is destroyed in an earthquake. I ended up watching a full playthrough of the game, and it was definitely one of those charming 'So Bad It's Good' type of games - and it apparently sold well enough to garner three sequels!
And when I discovered that the fourth and most recent entry in the franchise, Summer Memories, was on the PS Store and on sale, I decided to buy the game and give Disaster Report a spin!
Like every game in the Disaster Report franchise, Summer Memories puts players in the shoes of an ordinary person who must survive and escape a city that is completely destroyed by a natural disaster. In this case, we play a young man or woman who is taking a bus into Hisui City for a job interview, only to end up trapped in the city when it is hit by a massive earthquake. Now we have to decide on whether to work with our fellow survivors to find a way out of the city safely, or go on our own and try to survive without anyone's help.
I decided to play as the female protagonist, whom I named Yuzuna Shimmei. I decided to start my Platinum journey by playing the entire game completely blind. Part of the gameplay involves choosing between being a good person or a bad person, and I intended to choose mostly the good choices throughout the playthrough.
1/40: Bag of Holding - Acquired your first backpack.
2/40: First Companion - Found a companion
3/40: Taking Care of Business - Relieved yourself.
And then, in only the second area of the game...I got stuck.
I could not for the life of me figure out how to progress. I was running around the area for literally over an hour, trying to figure out what to do next. Eventually I did progress a little bit when I discovered I had to help a guy stuck in the bathroom find toilet paper...and then I got stuck again, and spent another 25 minutes trying to figure out the next steps to actually moving the game forward.
At this point, I decided that, although I did want to finish this game, I was clearly not making any ground on my own. So I decided to restart the game, and this time to follow a guide to get the Platinum as quickly as possible. I always feel a little bad when I don't give games at least one blind playthrough, but I didn't want to spend literal hours of my life running around in circles.
So I restarted the game, keeping the female protagonist and the name Yuzuna, but this time I followed the guide step-by-step. I ended up being very glad I was following the guide, as most of the trophies are gained by speaking to specific NPC's, making certain choices, and completing side quests spanning the entire five days we spend exploring the city trying to find a way to escape. The game itself swings between being a serious disaster story, with scenes like escaping a flooding apartment building or watching people sacrifice themselves to save their loved ones - and being an absurd farce with scenes like helping recruit people into a cult or solving a Romeo & Juliet style dispute between people living on opposite sides of a bridge. The tonal whiplash was a lot most times, but I really enjoyed the game as I played through it.
4/40: The Hunger, the Hunger! - Consumed a food item and eliminated hunger.
5/40: Absolutely Parched - Drank a beverage item and quenched thirst.
6/40: Holding Steady - Stood your ground three times before falling over.
7/40: Starving Cat-astrophe - Gave canned food to the stray cat.
8/40: First Day: Despair - Survived the first day after the earthquake.
9/40: Underwater Odyssey - Dove into the water for the first time.
10/40: An Item Assembled! - Acquired an item via assembly.
11/40: City Trekker - Exceeded 10,000 steps walking around the city.
12/40: Where's Ku-chan? - Searched for the little girl's teddy bear.
13/40: City Scoundrel - Strengthened ties with the villainous Kumazawa.
14/40: Second Day: Sorrow - Survived the second day after the earthquake.
15/40: Scoop on a Rival - Obtained information on Vestola's rival, Kerberos.
16/40: The Musician's Request - Listen to the request from street musician Miki Kinoshita.
17/40: Lovers' Reunion - Reunited Kanae with her fiancé Tomoya Kazama.
18/40: Third Day: Reunion - Survived the third day after the earthquake.
19/40: Costume Collector - Acquired 15 or more costumes.
20/40: Effective Solicitor - Contributed to the White Coats by inviting a lot of people.
21/40: Title of Authority - Exercised your right to change the game's title.
22/40: The Miraculous Miracle Water - Restored people's health with the power of the miracle water.
23/40: Compass Collector - Acquired 22 or more compasses.
24/40: Asset Collector - Exceed 100 million yen in total money and asset value of items.
25/40: Life-Changing Words - Exceeded 1,000 Moral and Immoral Points total.
26/40: Fourth Day: Escape - Survived the fourth day after the earthquake.
27/40: Wide-Eyed Youth - Verified that you have met 90 individuals via the People Menu.
28/40: Curse of the Fifth Floor - Experienced the city legend of the fifth-floor curse.
29/40: Reconstruction - Confirmed the beginning of the city's reconstruction.
30/40: Kiss of Gratitude - Received a kiss from Akemi the fashion designer.
31/40: Emotional Awareness - Understood the students' feelings toward their teacher Ms. Higa.
32/40: Passionate Revival - Understood the passion behind reviving the Italian restaurant.
33/40: Romance? Or Friendship? - Spent time with the Vestola president.
34/40: Love from the Jewelry Lady - Received a jewel from the woman searching for them.
After making it to the end of Day 5, you come to a literal fork in the road where you must choose to either travel to city hall to find shelter, or travel to the airport to try to get out of the city. Each choice leads to one of the game's two endings, so I made a save and decided to go to city hall first...where I ended up taking the mayor hostage and demanding 500 million yen and a helicopter.
Like I said, the game swings between serious and absurd, but I had officially finished my first full playthrough with 38 trophies.
35/40: Fifth Day: Recovery - Survived the fifth day after the earthquake.
36/40: A Simple Bath - Bathed in the simple bath installed in the city hall shelter.
37/40: Sixth Day... - Made it to the sixth day after the earthquake.
38/40: Decision Time! Escape to the City Hall! - Traveled to the city hall.
So after that, all I had to do was reload my save, and this time choose to go to the airport, where I ended up fighting off a human trafficking ring. Which came completely out of nowhere, but was a lot more fun than the city hall ending!
And with the second ending done, I had the Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories Platinum trophy!
39/40: Decision Time! Escape to the Airport! - Traveled to the airport.
40/40: Memories of Summer - Acquired all trophies.
This was a fun little game, and it only took me about 14 hours to finish. I enjoyed the many different scenarios the protagonist ends up in while trying to escape the city, and I also think the game did a good job of showing how disasters can bring out both the best - and worst - in people. I just think the game should have done better at making your next objective clear, because finishing this game would have taken me way longer without using a guide.
As a casual Platinum trophy hunter, I really enjoy watching Platinum hunting content on YouTube. One trend I really enjoyed was when a bunch of trophy hunter YouTubers all started doing a "30 Platinums in 30 Days" challenge. It sounds like a lot of fun - and one game I noticed kept popping up in all of these videos was a fun little indie game called A Short Hike.
When I saw A Short Hike was on sale, I decided to pick it up for a short but very enjoyable Platinum!
A Short Hike puts in in the shoes - or wings, in this case - of an anthropomorphic teenage bird named Claire. Claire is spending summer vacation with her Aunt May on a trip to Hawk Peak Provincial Park, a small island with beaches, forests, and a large snowy mountain in the center of the island. Claire is anxiously awaiting an important phone call, only to learn that the only place you can get good cell reception on the island is at the top of Hawk Peak itself. So Claire decides to tackle the challenging hike up to the top of Hawk Peak.
In order to go to the top of Hawk Peak, you need to collect golden feathers, which help Claire get better at flying and climbing. You can find golden feathers by finding them hidden around the island, buying them from vendors using money you can find hidden around the island, or getting them as rewards for doing favors for the other islanders. The more golden feathers you have, the easier it is to reach any part of the island.
So that is what I did! I explored the island to my heart's content until I had managed to collect 10 golden feathers, which was the perfect amount I needed to make it all the way to the top of Hawk Peak. This took me about an hour and a half, and it was really fun just running around and discovering the entire map. Once I finished the main story, I had three trophies.
1/13: Feather Finder - Collect 10 golden feathers.
2/13: Hawk Peak - Make it to the top of the mountain.
3/13: The End - Take a nice, long nap.
Next, I started a new game so I could clean up the rest of the trophies. I decided to start by trying to get all 20 golden feathers and the two hidden silver feathers.
This wasn't difficult, but I did need to find 880 coins in order to buy all the feathers from the two vendors. And there are only so many treasure chests and buried treasure on the map. What I ended up doing to make all the money I needed was catching fish to sell to the fisherman, which also helped me get the trophy for catching every kind of fish. I also got a trophy for getting my picture taken at the top of Hawk Peak before I finally got the last feather and popped that trophy.
4/13: Photo Friends - Get your photo taken.
5/13: The Fish Are Biting Today - Trade every species of fish from the journal.
6/13: Feathers Forever - Find every feather.
Next, I ran around taking care of all the remaining non-collectible trophies. Most of them were pretty easy - I would say the only challenging one was the boat race because I kept running into rocks. But eventually I did manage to get it as well as four other trophies.
7/13: Not A Scratch - Complete the boating challenge in under 45 seconds.
8/13: Crispy - Eat a piece of toast.
9/13: Only You Can Prevent Campfires - Put out 4 campfires.
10/13: Remember This Day Forever - Get the commemorative hat.
11/13: Parkour Master - Beat each parkour race once.
Now I only had one trophy left, and that was for finding every flower sprout on the map and watering it, which causes the flower to bloom and turn into a natural trampoline. This was very useful during my first run of the game in getting me around the map while I was still low on golden feathers. I used a video guide for this trophy, and once I found the 27th and final flower, I got the Platinum!
12/13: Green Thumb - Water every spout.
13/13: Vacation Maximized - Collect every other trophy.
This is the perfect kind of short indie game. It is short enough to finish in a single sitting - I got the Platinum in a little less than 5 hours - and yet it still feels like the game has a lot of stuff for you to do in it. Plus, I adore the art style, and I was extremely satisfied by the time I had unlocked every trophy and officially finished the game.
I definitely recommend A Short Hike to all video game players, trophy hunters or otherwise!

When I first discovered Coffee Talk, a cozy game about serving people coffee and listening to their problems, I ended up enjoying it so much that I got the Platinum for both the original game and the sequel in less than 3 days! When I found out that a third game was coming out, this one set in the beautiful city of Tokyo, Japan, I immediately bought the game on pre-order. And even though there were some shenanigans with the release date, the game FINALLY came out this week, and I immediately jumped into it to get the Platinum!
As the previous Coffee Talk games, Coffee Talk Tokyo is set in a world where humans and fantasy creatures' live side-by-side, working the same daily grind - and we get to know several of them who like to frequent a special cafe that is only open at night. Since this game is set in Japan, the new characters are all various creatures from Japanese mythology. In addition, we have a lot of new ingredients to work with, from hochija to soymilk to fresh fruit to ice cream!
I named the barista of this Tokyo coffee shop Sakura (named after my current favorite anime character, Sakura Haruka from Wind Breaker), and just played through the game blind, meeting all the new characters, including Sakura's cyborg assistant and roommate Vin; creatively struggling water dragon musician Jun; playful ghost Ayame and disgruntled marebito Fuku, who is trying to help Ayame move on; stay-at-home pixie dad Ash, his workaholic human wife Emi, and their adorable kitsune daughter Erika; newly retired kappa businessman Kenji; polyamorous party noppera-bō Makoto and his human music fan roommate Blue; and morose snow spirit restaurant owner Yuki. Classic Coffee Talk characters Rachel and Hendry also make a few appearances in Tokyo, which was a delight to see!
I really liked the new characters - I will be honest, I think I still vibed with the Seattle cast more, but the Tokyo cast were a refreshing cup of coffee to get to know!
Now, as with the previous games, the gameplay in Coffee Talk consists of listening to your costumers talk about their problems - and whether or not they solve those problems depends on if you make them the right drink. So what I did was go through my first playthrough, doing my best to make the best drinks for everyone, and reloading the day if I messed up on any drinks. I wanted to get all the best endings for each character after all! With that, I had 35 trophies by the time I finished my first playthrough.

31/44: Last Hurrah in Ghost Town - Unlock Ayame's best ending.
32/44: Seeing the Best in Yokai - Finish the game with all the best endings.
33/44: One Way to Find Out - Finish the story mode to conclusion once.
34/44: Special Cameo - Find all the Tomodachill posts of the Seattle regulars.
35/44: The World's Warmest Violin - Trigger the Akiko violin scene after the credits.
Now it was time for clean-up! First, I went into Endless Mode and made all the remaining drinks I had not made yet.
36/44: Master Brewer - Unlock all special drinks.
Next, I reloaded the last day of story mode and tried to unlock the trophy for listening to all songs on the fake Spotify app. At first, I thought the trophy might be bugged, because I was skipping through all the songs on the app and nothing was happening. Then I realized that I only had access to one of the game's three albums in story mode. So I went back to Endless Mode and THIS time I was able to skip through every single song on the soundtrack until the trophy popped.
37/44: Music Lover - Listen to all of the songs.
Next, I reloaded a random day in story mode over and over, trashing drinks until I had hit a total of 25 for one trophy.
38/44: Stop It - Trash a total of 25 drinks.
I then reloaded a different day and went into Latte Art mode on the first order, intending to get the trophy for spending 1 entire hour making latte art. However, when an hour passed and the trophy didn't pop, I got confused and thought it glitched, so I restarted the game. But no dice.
It was only then that I remembered that to pop the trophy, you have to actually serve the drink at the end of the hour. Oops. I felt real dumb, but I just started a second hour of waiting in Latte Art mode and this time remembered to serve it to unlock the trophy.
39/44: Art Takes Time - Spend a total of 1 hour making latte art.
Next up was unlocking all the images in the Gallery. You unlock images both by looking at posts on social media, and by getting either good or bad endings for each character. Since I already got all the good endings, I had to do a few more playthroughs to unlock all the images for the bad endings. Getting bad endings is as easy as just making everyone the wrong drinks and then feeling horrendous guilt as everyone's lives slowly get worse and they are unable to figure out their problems.
Honestly though, kudos to their customer loyalty, I would never set foot in a coffee shop that got my order wrong more than once.
Anyways, the reason I had to do more than one playthrough was because some images are only unlocked by getting good endings for certain characters while at the same time getting bad endings for other characters. So, after 2 more full playthroughs and 1 partial playthrough, I unlocked all the art I still needed and got the trophy.
40/44: Art Connoisseur - Unlock all the artworks in the Gallery.
Next up was Challenge Mode! This is a special mode where you try to make as many correct drink orders as possible without running out of time, and the orders get more and more specific and difficult to decipher the farther you get.
Now normally I use a cheat sheet to help me get the trophies with this mode, but since this game has only been out for a few days...no such cheat sheet existed. And while I was able to get 25 correct drinks, I failed to make it past that on my own and ended up losing Challenge Mode.
So this was a bit of an issue.
41/44: Barista Trainee - Serve 10 correct drinks in a single session of Challenge Mode.
42/44: Barista Expert - Serve 25 correct drinks in a single session of Challenge Mode.
Turns out that if you aren't using a cheat sheet, Challenge Mode is actually...a challenge! Who would have guessed?
What I ended up doing was going into Endless Mode and making a lot of drinks and writing down their properties, and then I used that as my own reference as I tried to get 50 drinks done in Challenge Mode. I still ended up failing a few times, but eventually I managed to get 50 drinks done in one go, giving me my third Coffee Talk Platinum trophy at last!
43/44: Barista Guru - Serve 50 correct drinks in a single session of Challenge Mode.
44/44: Thank You For Playing - Unlock all trophies.
I really enjoyed this third entry in the Coffee Talk series. I still think I prefer the cast of the first two games, but the third cast were just as memorable, and I enjoyed their stories.
My only critique would be that the trophy lists for all three games is almost identical, and I think I'd appreciate a little bit more variety, but other than that, I really hope we get a fourth game! Maybe set it in Amsterdam or something.
You know what? I'm not even gonna make up an excuse.
I bought this game and got this Platinum because I wanted to date a bunch of hot gay demon boys. I refuse to feel shame.
Although now that I actually finished the game...Kind of wish I had saved my money.
My Incubi Harem is a visual novel where you play as Ciras, a young mage-in-training working under the handsome but cold Master Izidore. One day, Ciras learns that in a few days, four Incubi will rise out of the underworld to choose the human man with the strongest magical energy to become their King - and since these are Incubi, you know that whoever becomes their King is in for a good time. Ciras discovers that Izidore is trying to increase his magical power to become the Incubi King - and Ciras may be his biggest competition.
Now, I decided to start the game by playing through the entire story blind. I ended up getting the good ending, where Ciras becomes the Incubi King and spends the rest of his life being served by his four Incubi lovers.
Do you want to know how long that took?
Less than twenty minutes.
This is one of the shortest visual novels I have ever played! The Incubi are only in the game for the last 5 minutes! I have never felt more ripped off in my entire life. There is no scenes of getting to know the Incubi, or even anything sexy. It's just wham bam, you're done, thanks for spending 7 bucks. What fucking garbage!
Well, anyway, I got 9 trophies out of it.
1/13: Morning Meeting - Start the game for the first time.
2/13: Tough Choice - Face a difficult decision when Master Izidore is attacked by the plant.
3/13: Incubi Book - Master Izidore showed you the Incubi Book.
4/13: Izidore's Old Friend - Visit the shop for the first time.
5/13: Helping The Liar - Choose to help Master Izidore when things get bad.
6/13: Voices In My Head - Listen to the Incubi in your mind for the first time.
9/13: The Real Chosen One - Complete the game with the Good Ending.
It took me no time at all to get the remaining trophies. In the scene at the shop, whatever you buy will determine which of the four Incubi you first meet. In my playthrough, I chose herbs, which meant I got the trophy for meeting Balgraan first. I just had to reload the game three more times, skip all dialogue, and then choose something different to ensure I met the other three.
In less than 30 minutes, I had gotten the Platinum for My Incubi Harem.
13/13: My Incubi Harem - Unlock all other trophies.
Short games are not bad - but I feel like a visual novel romance game should NOT be included on the list of short games. The title almost feels like a lie considering how little you actually see of the Incubi in the game. The only reason it's not a 1/10 is because the Incubi are hot. Can't wait to never touch this game or anything the developers make again.
Way back in 2018 (holy crap I just realized 2018 was eight years ago I feel so old), I was just getting into RPG's for the first time on my PlayStation 4. And one RPG I stumbled upon that I thought looked really cool was a Japanese RPG called Akiba's Beat. I bought it and played it up until the end of the second chapter; I don't remember WHY I stopped playing at the time, but I recently remembered this game and decided to pick it up again on the PS5 and get the Platinum!
Akiba's Beat puts you into the shoes of Asahi Tachibana, an unemployed college dropout (and shockingly proud of it) living in Tokyo's geekiest neighborhood, Akihabara, who does nothing but read manga, play video games, and sleep all day, with no plans for his future. One day, Asahi finds himself, along with several others, trapped in a time loop, repeating the same Sunday over and over again thanks to the appearance of Delusions - encroachments onto reality born out of people's desires, obsessions, or regrets. Asahi and his new friends must now try to solve the mystery of the Delusions in order to escape the never-ending Sunday.
Now, I didn't know this back in 2018, but Akiba's Beat is actually the third game in a franchise. The first two games, both titled Akiba's Trip, are about a secret organization that fights vampires invading Akihabara by stripping them down to their underwear in order to expose them to sunlight to kill them.
Yes. Seriously. That is the plot of those games. Just move the S in the title, and you realize those games are actually called Akiba Strip.
Knowing that, on top of having way more knowledge about anime and video games since I first tried this game out, I realized as I played that Akiba's Beat was just as much of a satire and parody of JRPG tropes and otaku culture as the rest of the franchise. From the very start, Asahi is unimpressed by the barrage of tropes and cliches that becomes his life, and responds to it all with a lot of snark and sarcasm.
However, I also found that, as much as Akiba's Beat makes fun of nerdy stuff, it also celebrates those things and the positive impact they can have on people's lives. I genuinely became deeply invested in all of the characters as I played through the main story. Everything nerdy and otaku under the sun gets a chance to shine in Akiba's Beat; anime, idols, maid cafes, trading cards, electronics, and more! You name it!
So for the first part of my Platinum journey, I focused on finishing the main story while making sure to finish all of the sub-events for each character, and completing as many quests as possible, since doing all that stuff got me some pretty sweet rewards. Once I beat the final boss and unlocked the true ending after 63 hours of gameplay, I officially finished the main story of Akiba's Beat with 34 trophies.
1/45: Is It Groundhog Day Already? - Completed Chapter 1.
2/45: Beat This! - Achieved a 99-beat combo.

6/45: Next Time on Akiba's Beat... - Completed Chapter 4.
7/45: All Dolled Up and Nowhere to Go - Completed Chapter 5.
10/45: Your Delusion Has Been Contracted - Completed Chapter 8.
11/45: A Little of This, a DAB of That… - Completed Chapter 9.
12/45: Once Upon a Time - Completed Chapter 10.

17/45: Hey Hey Hey Goodbye - Completed all of Nana Nanao's sub-events.

24/45: Momose Momosa Momakusa - Completed all of Riyu Momose's sub-events.

26/45: Saki to Me - Completed all of Saki Hoshino's sub-events.
27/45: Saionji of Sorcery - Completed all of Yoshino Saionji's sub-events.
28/45: Eternal Sanada - Completed all of Kotomi Sanada's sub-events.
29/45: With a Demure Yell, She Say - Completed all of Moé Suzumori's sub-events.
30/45: Reiji Against the Machine - Completed all of Reiji Shinomiya's sub-events.
31/45: Swimming with the Shareko - Completed all of Shareko Ube's sub-events.
32/45: Akemi, Asaw, Aconquered - Completed all of Akemi Ecstasia's sub-events.
33/45: Dawn of a New Day - Completed Chapter 16.
34/45: Kanon Ending - Achieved the true ending.
With the main story done, it was time to grind out the rest of the trophies. And I do mean GRIND.
The first thing I did was load my Clear Save, which puts you into a post-game mode where you can explore Akiba and do whatever you want. Most of the remaining trophies can only be unlocked in post-game - and I started by going for the trophy for recruiting Acquire-chan.
In the main story, you can recruit maids that can use support skills in battle. Two of the six maids are only available in post-game though, including Acquire-chan, the official mascot for the company that made Akiba's Beat. Apparently she accidentally manifested herself into the world of the game. Recruiting her involved completing three sub-events about finding her in certain dungeons. Once I finished all three, Acquire-chan officially joined the party, popping the trophy.
35/45: Needs More QA IMO - Recruited Acquire-chan.
I wanted Acquire-chan first because her support skill gives you a huge boost in either XP or money depending on how a battle goes, which would be very useful for the next trophy I was going for - levelling all seven party members up to Level 99.
To do this, I spent a long time grinding out group battles in the Might Club, an underground fighting ring you unlock in Chapter 13. While Asahi, Mizuki, Riyu, and Reiji didn't take too long to level up, since I had them all past Level 70 by the time I finished the main story, the other three party members Saki, Kotomi, and Yamato took longer because they were all still between Level 30 and Level 50, since I ended up not using them much in the last half of the game. Luckily, using the combo of Acquire-chan's support skill, Mizuki's absolutely broken overpowered attacks, and using items that further boosted XP gain, I was eventually able to unlock the trophy once the entire party hit Level 99.
36/45: Swole as Hell - Raised all party members' levels to max level.
With everyone at Level 99, I was able to breeze through each party member's solo battles at the Might Club. I had to do this because, once all ranks in the solo and group battles are cleared, you unlock the sub-events that allow you to recruit the final maid, Miké, as well as unlock the secret post-game dungeon - the Nameless Delusionscape.
The Nameless Delusionscape is the toughest dungeon in the game. While the other dungeons were between 3-10 levels each, the Nameless Delusionscape was 25 levels full of the strongest enemies and eight straight boss fights. With Miké recruited as my support maid, I took my four favorite party members and grinded out the entire dungeon in one go. Once I beat the final boss of the dungeon, I not only got the trophy for clearing the dungeon, but I also got the trophy for defeating every enemy in the game at least once.
37/45: Nyanda-tte? - Recruited Miké Musumeda.
38/45: Master of Deluseons - Defeated all enemies.
39/45: Nameless Trophy - Cleared the Nameless Delusionscape.
Next, I decided to get the trophies for buying all PP parts and clothes, which can all be used to increase party members stats. After all the fights I did at the Might Club, I had over 9,000,000 yen saved up, so what I did was buy all PP parts, then reload the save and buy all clothes, then reload the save again so I could pop the trophies but keep my money.
40/45: Streaming Upon the Throne - Obtained all PP parts.
41/45: Where Are You Keeping It All? - Obtained all head and body apparel and accessories.
Next up was finishing the last quests. Quests are given out by the black market dealer Shareko Ube, and consist of killing a specific number of specific monsters in each Delusionscape. I had done all quests for the main story dungeons, but now I had to do the quests for the Nameless Delusionscape.
The thing that worried me about that is, unlike the other dungeons, you can't leave the Nameless Delusionscape once you enter - and some of the monsters are only found on the lower floors. And also all eight bosses respawn with each visit...meaning I'd have to fight all eight bosses multiple times just to find the monsters I needed to kill for each quest. Which would really suck.
Luckily, I discovered via a quick google search that the monsters you fight in the Might Club are actually Nameless Delusionscape monsters, and killing them in fights counts for the quests. So I just did a few more rounds in the Might Club to finish the remaining quests and got the trophy lickity split!
42/45: East Meets Quest - Completed all quests.
Now it was time to finish the Might Club battles. Clearing the Nameless Delusionscape actually unlocks a secret rank in the Might Club called the HYPER Rank. I had to do one group HYPER Rank battle and then a solo HYPER Rank battle for each party member. These battles ended up being against the bosses from the Nameless Delusionscape itself, meaning I ended up fighting them again anyway.
The solo fights weren't bad, but the group fight sucked because I had to take down all eight bosses at once. The fight took me 56 entire minutes to complete! It was so annoying! But once I beat it, I unlocked the trophy.
43/45: Okay, Now You Can Talk About It - Cleared all ranks at the Might Club.
And now it was time for the trophy I was looking forward to getting the least, which is why I saved it for last: Getting all the trading cards.
Trading cards are basically power-ups, and you can use them to increase stats or give boosts to your party members, like increasing the strength of Fire attacks or increasing how much XP you get from a battle. They come in five categories - Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, and Ultra Rare. There are 143 total cards across two series - Vanishing Fantasy, which has a bunch of fantasy OC's, and Akiba's Beat, a card collection that is unlocked by completing Akemi's sub-events that feature every single character from the game's main story.
The issue is that the trading cards come in packs of five that are completely random. It reminded me of gacha games, and I utterly loathe gacha games. I barely bought any cards during the main story because I was trying to save my money for upgrading gear. But now that I had no choice but to buy cards, I ended up working out a strategy to get the remaining cards without losing my mind.
First, I went back to the Might Club and grinded battles until I hit 9,999,999 yen. Then I went to the card shops and bought pack after pack until I had collected every single Common, Uncommon, and Rare cards. I ended up spending a little over a million yen doing this. Once I only had Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards, I used the time changing feature to change the time to Midnight. When you change the time to Midnight at any point starting in Chapter 16, a secret shop opens up that sells packs that exclusively contain Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards. The caveat is they cost 200,000 yen instead of 5,000 yen like the normal packs.
So what I did was spend the rest of my money on these rare packs, which managed to get me all but 5 out of the 143 cards left. From there, I continued going back to the Might Club and grinding battles out to earn about a million yen, then returned to the shop and bought more packs, reloading my save if I didn't get any new cards. Once I had gotten down to only one single card left to obtain, I went to the Might Club a final time, earned 1.5 million yen, then went back to the shop and repeatedly bought packs and reloading my save until I finally got the last card. This entire process took me about five hours, but once I finally got the 143rd card, I unlocked the trophy and FINALLY popped the Akiba's Beat Platinum!
44/45: Tap to Win - Obtained all trading cards.
45/45: Beat Akiba's - ACQUIREd all other Akiba's Beat trophies.
I really enjoyed this game and I really liked all of the characters, but I will say that once I finished the main story and my playthrough became almost exclusively grinding, getting the remaining trophies became a real chore instead of a fun experience. However, I will only knock off 2 points for that because the story was great.
Now I am wondering if I should try out the Akiba Strip-I mean, the Akiba's Trip games.
Anya is live and ready to show you everything. Watch her strip, dance, and perform exclusive shows just for you. Interact in real-time and make your fantasies come true.

If I ever share anything that was AI generated it is purely by accident. I hate that it's getting harder and harder to tell and it makes me want to never use the internet again. It definitely had its faults, but man I miss the internet of the 2000s so much.
RJ's Platinum Collection #88: Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections
Achieved on 4/15/2026 at 7:51 PM
Why yes, I am still on my Naruto obsession, how did you know?
I have gotten the Platinum for all of the main entries in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series (aside from Generations and Revolution but that is fine because I've heard nothing good about those games), and in my genuine opinion, the games just get better and better with each new entry. So once I got the Platinum for Storm 4, I immediately hopped over to Connections, released in 2023, to see what the newest entry in the series had for me.
And I did end up with......mixed feelings.
The first thing I did once I started my Platinum playthrough of Connections was jump into Free Battle and learn how to play the game. I figured that the combat would probably be different since this game came out 7 years after the last game. And I was right, as they changed what button inputs you needed for a lot of the things, like using ninjutsu, chakra dashing, and Awakening, which definitely took some time getting used to. However, I also couldn't help but feel like the combat seemed....easier to control than in past games? Regardless, after a few dozen fights in Free Battle, I had the controls down and also got six combat trophies along the way too.
1/45: Ninjutsu Master - Activated Ninjutsu 1 and Ninjutsu 2 twice each during a single round in any battle.
2/45: Raging Ninjutsu Combo - Performed a Ninjutsu Combo in any battle.
3/45: Secret Technique Unleashed - Defeated an opponent in any battle with a Secret Technique Finish.
4/45: Training Begins - Raised a character's Proficiency for the first time.
5/45: Turning the Tides! - Defeated an opponent in any battle while Awakened.
6/45: Telepathy - Defeated an opponent in any battle with a Combination or Linked Secret Technique Finish.
Next, I decided to tackle the story modes. Yes, modes. Connections has two different story modes - History and Special Story.
I decided to start with Special Story, which told an original story set during the time of Boruto in which a mysterious organization called Zero uses a video game called "Ninja Heroes" to brainwash Naruto into starting a Fifth Shinobi World War, forcing Boruto, Team 7, and Sasuke to work together to stop Zero and save the ninja world from destruction. It was your typical filler plot, but I actually really liked it, especially the relationship between Boruto and original character Nanashi. Finishing Special Story gave me 7 more trophies.
7/45: A Disrupted Ninja World - Cleared "Clash of the Best".
8/45: Ninja Gamers - Cleared "Days of Youth".
9/45: Approaching Disturbance - Cleared "A Swirl of Dark Clouds".
10/45: Shattered Peace - Cleared "The Ninja World Where Zero Creeps".
11/45: Revival of Memories - Cleared "Ninjas Torn by Memories".
12/45: Zero the Destroyer - Cleared "Moonlight Duel".
13/45: Memory of Open Light - Cleared "A Path in the Sunlight".
Next, I switched over to History and played through the second story mode of the game. History is exactly what it sounds like, retelling the entire story of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden from the Bell Test all the way to the final battle against Kaguya.
And it is absolutely fucking terrible.
There are zero animated cutscenes. Instead, all we get are slideshows with narration and voiceovers, with a few fights in-between that are either boring and repetitive or just straight up carbon copies of boss fights from previous Storm games. Not to mention they cut out a LOT of really important fights in order to tell the most bare bones, flashcard version of Naruto and Shippuden I've ever seen. This story mode was so tedious and unbearable that I had to keep taking breaks to avoid dying of boredom, but I managed to finish it and got 10 more trophies.
14/45: First Ninja Handbook - Cleared Chapter 1: Genin Training.
15/45: Shutout - Won a 3-round battle without losing a single round in any battle.
16/45: A Parting of Close Friends - Cleared Chapter 2: Chasing Sasuke.
17/45: Age of the Gale - Cleared Chapter 3: Arrival of the New Age.
18/45: Birth of a Hero - Cleared Chapter 4: Akatsuki Riot.
19/45: A United Ninja World - Cleared Chapter 5: The Five Kage Summit.
20/45: Hard Fight of the Allied Shinobi Forces - Cleared Chapter 6: The Fourth Great Ninja War, Part 1.
21/45: The Endless Struggle - Cleared Chapter 7: The Fourth Great Ninja War, Part 2.
22/45: Unison Sign - Cleared Chapter 8: The Last Battle.
23/45: The Footprints of Heroes - Cleared History Mode.
Next, I went into Free Battle mode to get some miscellaneous combat trophies out of the way.
24/45: Bonded Power - Defeated an opponent in any battle during a Linked Awakening.
25/45: Intense Combo Attack - Achieved a 50-hit combo in any battle.
26/45: Customize and Win! - Won using a customized character in any battle.
Next, I decided to get the trophies for the different Free Battle modes out of the way. The first two trophies were simple, as all I had to do was play one entire Tournament and League.
27/45: Tournament Champ - Win a tournament for the first time.
28/45: League Champ - Won a league for the first time.
After that I moved on to Ultimate Survival. Unlike the previous Storm game, Ultimate Survival had three different modes - Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, with trophies for winning 10 fights in a row in each of them. Using Minato, who remains the most broken overpowered fighter in the series (you really think they'd balance him out by the fifth game, but whatever), this was easy as pie.
After that was completing all of the different levels in Ability Cap Survival. I was a bit concerned about this because this mode in the last game was pretty hard - but this one was shockingly easy. Like, the handicaps in each course didn't have any kind of noticeable effect on my ability to demolish every opponent. It was at this point that I realized this game might be a little too easy, especially compared to the other games in the series. But I still finished all three levels and got three more trophies.
32/45: Cleared Beginner Ability Cap Survival! - Cleared all Beginner Ability Cap Survival courses.
33/45: Cleared Intermediate Ability Cap Survival! - Cleared all Intermediate Ability Cap Survival courses.
34/45: Cleared Advanced Ability Cap Survival! - Cleared all Advanced Ability Cap Survival courses.
With that all done, I quickly got another trophy out of the way by going into the store and buying items until I reached one thousand. This didn't take me very long as I had naturally unlocked a little over 840 items already just by playing through the game.
35/45: Shrewd Collector - Accumulated 1,000 different items that can be kept in the Collection.
Next up was getting the trophy for playing as 100 different characters. Connections has a pretty impressively sized roster with over 130 different characters to choose from, so I just played matches in Free Battle until I hit 100 and popped the trophy.
36/45: Ninja Gathering - Use a total of 100 different characters.
Next up was earning titles. These are placards you can slap onto your game profile, and you earn them through various means. By the time I started actively going for the trophy for unlocking 100 of them, I was only at 35.
So this ended up taking me a bit of time, but I found that the easiest way to unlock titles was by playing Free Battle in teams that both leveled characters up to Proficiency 5, had certain characters, used certain team ultimate jutsus. For example, I earned five titles by playing with Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro for leveling them all up, using their team ultimate jutsu five times, and for playing five matches using characters from the Sand. So I just kept doing that until I finally unlocked my 100th title and got the trophy. I also got the trophy for unlocking 100 Encyclopedia pages, which are just pages with information about Naruto characters and lore, in the process.
37/45: Rich in Knowledge - Unlock 100 unique NARUTO X BORUTO Encyclopedia pages.
38/45: Multi-Title Holder - Earned 100 titles.
Next up, I decided to try to get S Ranks on all of the chapters in Special Story and History, which also included the optional missions in Special Story. Now, usually trying to S Rank fights in a Naruto game is the biggest pain in the ass, right? But I actually had a really easy time getting S Ranks in this game. I didn't even have that many left to get by the time I got to this point in my Platinum playthrough. Like I said earlier, this game is actually pretty damn easy compared to the other Storm games.
The only fight that gave me trouble was the fight in History between Naruto and Shukaku, which was a carbon copy of the same fight from the very first Storm game. I had to restart it 16 times due to having trouble dodging a specific attack that took out a huge chunk of my health. But I eventually got it and finished up the trophies for S Ranks.
39/45: A New Legend - Achieved an S Rank in all Special Story Mode missions.
40/45: Ninja Paragon - Cleared all Special Story Mode missions.
41/45: Completely Solved - Achieved an S Rank in all Special Story Mode chapters.
42/45: A Perfect History - Achieved an S Rank in all History Mode chapters.
And now for the final part of getting this Platinum - which was also the part that almost made me quit this game because of how unbelievably tedious it was.
Leveling up five characters to Proficiency 30.
Proficiency is just the games fancy way of showing how much you've played as each character, and you raise up the levels by gaining XP in fights. Seems like a simple couple of trophies to get?
Except the characters level up so fucking slowly. Like it is actually painful how slowly characters level up. You need like 1000-5000 XP to increase a level, and winning a fight usually only gets you 150-300 XP. It's atrocious and horrific and so. Damn. BORING.
What I ended up doing was just playing Ultimate Survival with the five characters I had gotten leveled up the most already through the rest of my playthrough - Minato, Konohamaru, Yagura, Kawaki, and Part 1 Naruto. I had to take a LOT of breaks doing this, because fighting endlessly just to increase XP is soul sucking, but once I finally managed to level all five up to 30, I FINALLY got my fifth Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Platinum trophy!
43/45: Seeking More Power - Raised Proficiency to 30 for one character.
44/45: Supreme Domain - Raised Proficiency to 30 for five characters.
45/45: Perfect Storm Master - Acquired all trophies.
I initially had high hopes going into this game, but I found myself enjoying it less and less as I went in. While the original Boruto story was good, History Mode was unforgivably bad, and the grind of earning titles, S Ranks, and leveling characters up became so repetitive and mind-numbing that I was literally praying for the Platinum to unlock so I could stop playing the game.
Also, something that distracted me a lot was the voice work in this game. Outside of the Boruto story mode, all of the voice acting was really weird. Like, to the point that I thought that dozens of characters had been replaced with different voice actors - bad voice actors at that. But no, it turns out that the audio mixing in the game is just actually that terrible, to the point that a few of the longtime Naruto voice actors actually accused the game of using AI for some of the voice lines. If that's true, that's just unacceptable.
While I loved all four previous Ultimate Ninja Storm games, Connections is absolutely the worst entry so far. I could see why a lot of people called it a rushed cash grab. This was a painful Platinum to get.
