Ever since childhood, I saw the use of phrase “like a girl” as an insult and “not like other girls” as a compliment which makes girls feel like they stand out. Many girls don’t realise that this “compliment” actually tells us that our gender is bad, but since I am different from the rest, I am good. This leads us to make fun of many things that are seen as feminine like the colour pink, skirts, taking care of our nails, etc. All these feminine characteristics are part of gender stereotypes that society imposes and can be totally contrasted when it comes to a boy, such as boys are supposed to like colour blue, cars and hoodies. Due to the “compliment”, girls make fun of their own gender for being feminine and feel that they are better off following the stereotypical criteria for a man as society deems feminine qualities as a symbol of weakness. What we need to realise is that these stereotypes are totally ridiculous as these things can be liked by people irrespective of their gender. We don’t need to lose the things that we actually like in order to stand out. Every individual’s interests are complex and can’t be put in a box. You are like a fucking awesome girl, weather you like pink or blue. Be proud of your choices and don’t lose your individuality, in order to fit inside a box. The dilemma.

I really enjoyed working on these. Now, it always brings a smile to my face whenever I notice someone doing any of these things. Hopefully, it will bring one on yours too.

Growing up, I used to hear all sorts of superstitions from Mummy. Though as we grew, she also evolved and successfully left behind most of these beliefs.

I love taking long walks under the yellow street lights on the empty roads at night. It's a shame that the only times I have been able to it without feeling threatened is when I am accompanied by a boy. P.S. For non-hindi folks, the text on last slide can be loosely translated as "Don't stop me without any reason. Don't say anything to me, if I follow you."

I remember, I used to feel so cold in winters sometimes (I still do) that I never wanted to remove my gloves, even while writing in school. Eventually, I learnt how to write nicely enough with it.
