Rottytops (OST Mix) - Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
AKA DID I COOK WITH THIS ONE?
An important aspect of enjoying high quality rips is recognizing when the rip is not good. There is, of course, the absolute banger 9 and 10 out of 10 rips that you wish would play at the club. But occasionally, you get that remarkably awful rip that is just a disaster from start to finish, maliciously so. The 0/10 rips.
Here at Rip of the Day we believe that the worst thing a rip can be is mediocre. It takes just as much effort to make a truly horrendous 0/10 rip as it does to make a truly excellent 10/10 rip. We celebrate those that go the extra step to be monumentously awful.
This rip is the perfect example. The effort that went into crafting this disaster must have been herculean. The instruments of the base track are perfectly, artistically crafted to replicate not just the sound of the Fun House theme from Spiderman on the Sega Genesis, it replicates the feel of the track. The bounce, the bass, the groove... It's truly something to behold, taking the listener to new heights of audio ecstasy. And if it ended there, that would be it; a very respectable rip to groove to.
But oh no it does not end there. The cacaphony of sounds that follows does not so much as let down the listener as it does cast them down with scorn and ire. Perhaps, one may think, this will be worked artistically into the rip. Perhaps, one may hope, they are doing something with this. Perhaps, one may pray, there is hope for this desolate land. But nay. The remainder of the track only gets worse as all hope of this being a banger is dashed on the rocks. You, dear listener, are the clown, and the creator laughs and laughs and laughs at your suffering.
"Did I cook with this one?" the ripper questions. It is not a hopeful question. It is asked with a coy grin, a sarcastic sneer, a mischevious, vicious visage. And my answer is "no."
0/10. A masterclass in rip creation. One to treasure for ages to come.
Tragically, the notes contain the MP3 upload and a link to the FLAC.
