Pandora hated this world. And the little voice in her head reminded her of it. Anger, she knew it was Ares. Being alone wasn’t good for her, these voices always came out when she was alone. Her arms wrapped tighter around her, looking over her shoulder. Scared, worried, knowing once situation and she could destroy this place. She didn’t want to! But her abilities, her powers. Those scientists, her father, turned her into something. She wasn’t human, she… was a monster. They didn’t even give her a name, so she took one herself. They had called her Project Pandora Box, so that’s what she took.
Pandora. And the first thing she ever saw outside of that lab, MILLS. A ship she stowed away on. So she was named Pandora Mills. She didn’t understand the world. These cars, the roads, the buildings. All she had been taught was the Greek language, English, the history of ancient Greece and the gods, and how to fight. “You will be the perfect soldier we have ever created,” She remembered hearing the words when she had been put under. But her senses, she remembered.
She remembered everything.
Despite those sharp senses, she was so heavily distracted that she bumped into someone. She jerked up, reacting defensively as she looked at the man. More like a god, though. He reminded her a bit of Zeus, or Poseidon. The pictures of those gods quite matching that she had to blink a few times to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating. “I’m sorry,” Pandora said, as she tucked her hands into her pockets and tried to walk away once more. She just needed to find an abandoned hotel, or house, building. Anything. She needed somewhere to go.

The world was changing. He knew that all too well. And it was changing far too fast for his liking. He had spent 70 years in the ice, only to come back to another war. One that he hadn’t signed up for. But he fought in anyway. Another enemy. Knock it down, another comes. And another, and another. And he was tired. He was so damn tired. Tired of fighting, tired of losing good people that he cared about. After Germany, he was tired of Tony and his need to have his way all the time. And he had left. He and Natasha had scattered when Wanda and Vision had. He had to. He had to get away, before anything else happened.
He wasn’t even sure right now, where Natasha was. He would if she needed him, but right now he was on his own. He liked it that way. He needed to find his own way for a while. And so did she. Things were out in the world now. Secrets weren’t secret anymore. And they had to figure out their next moves now that they weren’t hidden anymore. Natasha especially. She couldn’t rely on the past anymore. And he knew that that scared her.
He was more afraid of failing those that were left. He was supposed to be the leader, and he had failed them all. His choices had led to mistakes. To a broken trust. And he wasn’t sure that he could get that back. He didn’t know where to start to even try. It scared him, to be alone like this. To know that because of him, they were all so lost in the world. Maybe it was for the best though. At least this way, none of them could get killed. Not anymore. Even though Bucky was alive, he still blamed himself for that one. He couldn’t not.
His mind was on the past, when she bumped into him. His distraction wavered as he looked at her, the fear in her eyes not lost on him. The smile is gentle as he shakes his head at her. “My fault. It’s fine.” There is a small tilt to his head as he looks at her, holding out his hand to her. “Hey, are you okay? Do you need anything?”
