How far?
At least an hour's drive.
Getting out of town|| Rileigh and Amelia
Amelia looked over her shoulder, looking for Riles, and felt a little guilty that she dragged her down here. She was sitting at the bar, and she seemed to not have a very bad time.Â
â Who is your friend over there?â Amelia and Jake had been talking for a while, catching up over the months that they havenât seen each other. â Thatâs Rileigh, my sisterâs best friend.â She couldnât stop looking in those eyes, and again, she asked herself why they had broken up the last time they had spoken â We got tired of Beacon Hills, needed a night out.â It felt like they had their personal bubble, where everything outside of it didnât matter. But for the second time, Amelia realised she was acting selfish. â And she will introduce herself, after you have bought us some shots.â The teasing and demanding came natural, and she felt completely comfortable with him paying the drinks, if that meant she came a step closer to a new pair of heels. â I need some air.â Jake was about to stand up, obvious hoping Amelia would join him. And she wouldnât mind having some alone time, without a certain surrogate sister watching over them every ten seconds. But a little teasing wouldnât be bad for his ego. â You, in need of oxygen? I believed you once told me you practically lived here.â She slowly stood up and grabbed his hand.â But anyway, I would love to join you.â They remained silent for a very long time, but it didnât felt awkward. He had wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and she let her head resting on his shoulder. If she could only have frozen this moment. â I missed this.â She whispered. Amelia had to look up to see his face, and saw that his blues eyes were doing the same. â Ames, youâve always been a bit too impulsive, havenât you?â He was smiling, but all the alarm bells starting to tinkle, because his eyes werenât. â Â What the hell are you talking about?â She tried to free herself, to creating some space between them. But then, she felt how strong he was. Amelia didnât stand a change. â Donât scream.â He said, on a very weird tone. Screaming was all she could do, so when his face suddenly changed into a horror image, she made more sound than she had ever did before. Until his teeth touched her neck, and he began to drink.
Her nerves were on edge and goosebumps began to rise along her flesh. Something was wrong. This wonderfully horrible sixth sense of sorts told Rileigh as much. She perked up, declining another drink as she looked around for Amelia. Shit. Dammit. She didn't see her anywhere. But if she concentrated...she knew the girl well enough to pick out her smell and the sound of her voice, if she just focused. She closed her eyes. But stronger than all of that was the smell of fresh blood. Oh, warm, delicious human blood, flowing from a vein. And an increasing heartbeat, the smell of fear.
Rileigh's eyes snapped open. A scream that sounded remarkably like Amelia. Oh, where was she? It couldn't be her. It just couldn't be. She moved quickly, not as fast as her vampirism allowed her through the crowd, but still swiftly as she made her way outside and followed the scent of blood and the sound of the heartbeat that she was terrified belonged to Amelia.
It didn't take long for her to find them and a rage like none that Rileigh had ever known burst forth inside of her as she crossed the space at lightning speed, hissing and baring her fangs as she pulled the other vampire off of Amelia, growling as they tussled and tumbled to the ground. "Fangs off!"
Straddling Jake, she looked up to see how Amelia was faring, the tantalizing aroma of blood strong, the haze of anger and bloodlust beginning to cloud her vision but not her sense of judgement, not yet, and she tightened her hold on the slightly younger vamp struggling beneath her, close to overpowering her. The girl looked panicked, frightened, and dazed from the attack and blood loss.

Scarves will hide the two sinkholes in my neck. I donât need people thinking Iâm being used as an all you can eat buffet.
Wait, what? You don't think that I'd feed from you, do you? I don't...that's not what I do. I know how to control myself. And I don't feed off of people that I know, let alone friends or family. I might have slipped up once, but that was one time when I was still struggling. I nibble and snack on...people. Also, I like a little more age on my food and being able to have a little fun with it. So, take some comfort in the fact that I don't find you the least bit appetizing.

I should buy some more scarfs.Â
To cover those wounds.
Scarves won't keep you safe from the other beings in this town, unless they have silver and vervain. But if you're just looking to make a fashion statement or be prepared for the cold weather, yeah, sure. Stock up on scarves and other accessories.
That's really not funny. And eventually, they'd arouse suspicion.
Here's to never waking up
No fangs have ented my bloodstream, if thatâs what you need to know.
Fangs, claws, whatever. But that's good to know.
Please don't shut me out, Amelia. I can't lose you too.
Maybe I should do a little shopping
Are there any good stores around here? Iâve got a taste for leather, so they better have a decent selection.
Not that I know of. You'll probably have to make a roadtrip.
Getting out of town|| Rileigh and Amelia
When they walked in, the smell of sweating bodies and spilled beer smashed in their faces. Nothing had changed in the time that she abounded this place. The left side of the building was dominated by a big, dark wooden bar with matching stools. It wasnât very crowded, what was understandable since the night had just begun. Amelia couldnât stop herself from laughing when she saw Rileighâs face grow gloomy when they had entered the building.Â
â Swear to me that you wonât tell Jason and Madison anything that you will hear tonight.â It wasnât that hard to imagine how they, and especially Jason, would react if they knew she used to spent most of her time in this hole. Amelia walked straight to the bar, wondering if she would still be recognised. She searched her pockets for cash after she ordered two cokes, hoping she hadnât forget to empty her secret money box. Financially, she had never been better, now she had a real job. When she was about to hand the money over to the bartender, a familiar voice made her forget instantly what she was about to do. â You came.â She turned around, and remembered why she once had cared for the boy in front of her. Two beautiful blue eyes were surrounded by freckles. His hair could have been stolen from any movie star, and his muscular body was visible underneath his tight white shirt. But the thing she loved the most was his smile. The way his eyes always would light up when he saw her. She already felt herself melting. â Jake, how did I know I would see you here.â It was a rhetorical question, since she had never seen him anywhere else. â Oh, yeah. Right. You are allergic for proper hygiene and sunlight.â
Rileigh's eyes widened as she gazed around the room. If she hadn't felt so protective of Amelia, it wouldn't have been a thing and she would have just laughed and set about having as good a time as she could despite her already feeling out of her element in the dank and rather sketchy atmosphere. She leaned in close to Amelia to whisper in her ear, "I swear not to tell them, but oh, we are going to have a long talk after we get back to Beacon Hills about how you know anything about this place."
She sighed as they approached the bar, feeling the need to stay on her guard. She sniffed the air and wrinkled her nose in distaste. There was little in the way of anyone who smelled appetizing. She wondered what the odds were that someone more appealing would wander in that she could snack on a little. But perhaps that would be for the best. She shouldn't be feeding around Amelia anyway and it's not like she was starving or even that hungry, but it had been a few weeks since she'd had fresh human blood and she had really been looking forward to sinking her teeth into a tasty coed on this outing.
Rileigh raised an eyebrow as Amelia focused on the boy she called Jake. Interesting. They really did have a lot they needed to catch up on. She flinched slightly at the 'allergic to sunlight' comment. She wasn't going to intrude on their conversation and moved down the bar a few feet and ordered a beer. She glanced over in Amelia's direction every few minutes, just to make sure she knew where she was and that she was okay and having a good time.

Right
I just wanted to peek in and make sure that you were okay. That no other creepy crawly things had gotten in.

Here's to never waking up
Itâs great.Â
Iâm one hundred procent sure I locked all the doors last night.
Oh, that. One of the windows was open, just a crack but that's enough, and not...everyone needs a invitation to get in.
Here's to never waking up
Iâm fine. Enjoying my day off.
How did you get in?
That's good. Still liking working at The Grill?
Oh, invitation from Madison over the summer.
Here's to never waking up
Exactly.
So, other than not wanting to get out of bed, how are you?
Here's to never waking up
And not dealing with how overrated reality is sometimes.
Getting out of town|| Rileigh and Amelia
â You didnât hear? She kicked me out.â Her voice sounded neutral, but deep inside, she felt like she was slowly losing it.Â
The only thing that did kept her going on was the fact that Jason and Madison would be back soon. They were okay, and when they would have fixed their âjobâ, her siblings had both promised picking her up was the first thing on their to-do list. When he finally had picked up the phone, she had begged them to come back to her. Jason didnât literally told her what they were exactly doing, but she was pretty sure that had something to do with vampires. This wasnât the first time that Jason and Madison went MIA for a couple of weeks. So this was nothing new. But after Jason had told her the news about her uncleâs death, her instinct told her they werenât safe. Before, she was an expert on avoiding the hunting subject, and now Issy kicked her out because of it. Now, the whole world seems to be busy with things no one would tell her anything about. She didnât know how they looked, what they did or the kind of powers they possessed. The only time she saw one in action was the night her parents died. But that version of her was gone. She had grown up and was ready to handle the truth. Â â I donât blame them. The world doesnât revolve around me, and itâs time that they do things that makes them happy.â Without me. Away from the burden that was Amelia Parker. The campus didnât have much to offer, besides some arrogant society people that asked if she wasnât a bit young to be there . So they decided to hit the road again. â I promise you, if I hear the word kid one more time today, people will feel how much damage this little girl can cause.â
"She did what now? Why? When? Why didn't you say anything to me sooner?" Rileigh sighed and shook her head. "You know, if you need or want me to spend a night or two until Jason or Madison get back, I will in a heartbeat. Even if you say you don't, I might just for my own peace of mind." She held her hands up, giving a slight eye roll. "I know you're old enough to take care of yourself but sometimes, Beacon Hills and the world in general can be dangerous places. You don't need to be alone in that house."
Rileigh couldn't understand why Issy would have kicked Amelia out, especially since they got along so well. She also still didn't understand why neither of Amelia's older siblings were back in town yet or why Jason hadn't made arrangements for Amelia to be looked after before he'd taken off.
She laughed. "Easy there, kiddo." She scrunched her nose up at Amelia, hoping for at least an amused smile from the girl. "I don't have bail money and I'm sure it would be a little while before I was forgiven if I let you get in any real trouble." It was a short drive from the campus to the house where the party Amelia had mentioned was. When she pulled up, Rileigh immediately got the vibe that her surrogate younger sister was right. It wasn't really her scene, but she'd make do. After all, this trip was more about trying to brighten Amelia's spirits. "Well, let's get this party started, shall we?"

Pretty much. Just need a decent nightâs sleep, thatâs all.
Don't we all? How's Jackson? Have you heard from him lately? Am I overstepping?
Hey Riles, yeah, just tired.Â
You look a little more than tired but okay. One of those need an IV of straight caffeine days?
