He was going to refuse, enjoying his tea more than he would any smoothie. Yet when Riku stopped and smiled at him it surprised the page. After all, why was he smiling? Possibly it was a trick to get him to drink, a trick Demyx sometime used also. Yet there was something different about it.
Looking down at the table for a moment, he grasped the cup offered out to him and leaned forward. Self-consciously Xirig placed his lips over the straw, glancing at Riku in the hopes that the silveret wasnât watching too closely. Xirig didnât like straws very much. They made his lips pucker, and although he didnât brag he was quite vain.
"Thank youâŚ" He mumbled returning to sipping at his tea. "It wasnât bad."
Riku waited patiently for Xirig to take a draw from the smoothie, his face managing to be both expectant and exuberant simultaneously. His eyes flickered down to where Xirig's lips met the straw and the smile slid from his face for a moment.
  That felt wrong.
Immediately he moved his gaze back up to Xirig's eyes, flushed very slightly pink, and berating himself for looking where he felt he really shouldn't have.Â
By the time Xirig pulled away he had his smile back in place, however less bright, and nodded in agreement with Xirig's assessment. "I love smoothies! They're nice and cool and remind me of home. Ice is kinda hard to come by sometimes but fruit is everywhere, and on a hot day, nothing beats the two together!"
Sitting back, he sat the smoothie aside (somehow feeling it would be wrong to have his lips on the straw so soon after Xirig's) and picked up his sandwich to take another bite.
