Broken Soldier

Past: Deal’s were something Dean never really was good at making. So, when the time came that he needed to make a deal for his brother’s life desperation took over. All he was thinking was “Get him back.” and in the end Dean ended up with the short end of the stick. Instead of the usual ten years he got a year. Swearing to make the best of it and keep the truth from his brother as long as possible Dean lived wrecklessly. Like someone that was dying tomorrow because the fact was he just may. His year passed and the hounds came to collect their debt.

Dying wasn’t easy. It hurt like hell… Go figure since that was right were he was going to end up. Dean knew that was part of the deal but, he didn’t know exactly how things were going to end up. If he had he may have second guessed his choices.

Present: Rumors spread through Hell that there was a new kid in town. Alastair was growing tired of the same routine. The daily torture was becoming mundane and he was looking for something new and interesting. That’s when he laid eyes on the beacon of light that was Dean Winchester. “Perfect” he thought to himself as he picked him himself. That would be his project. Breaking him and making him his apprentice.

Breaking was harder than he thought. But, once it was done Dean proved that he was more than able to learn Alastair’s ways along with some of his own.

Patient: Dean Winchester DOB: January 24, 1979 Medical Conditions: Delusions of Grandeur, PSTD, Narcissistic personality, Schizophrenia and Personality disorder. Pertinent Information: Currently under inpatient care. Patient is unable to function and carry out normal ADL. He is considered a danger to not only himself but other people. Progress Notes: Dean has been resistant to most treatments and is unable and unwilling to cooperate with group activities. He has become hostile with staff as well as some patients. As time goes on his delusions have become stronger and outbursts more frequent.

Group sessions were the worst. Dean hated them with a passion. Everyone had their sad tales and each other them whining just irritated him more and more. Crossing, then uncrossing his arms Dean huffed sitting in his chair. As he became more restless he shifted aimlessly.

Finally, after one particularly whiny patient Dean snapped.

"Each day I hear you whine whine whine about your poor sad pitiful lives." His words were venom, eyes daggers. "Why don’t you think about someone else for once."

The group therapist started to speak up. “Like you do Mr. Winchester.”

But, before another word could be spoken Dean snapped back “You shut your trap.”

That was all it took. Orderlies descended upon him and the more he fought the harder they held. The group of people were escorted from the room and eventually Dean was subdued and moved to a safe room to ‘cool down’.

Spending your days like that was not something that he enjoyed but that’s what he did. That’s how he coped with their attempts as he called it reprogramming him.

Death— It’s not as bad the, oh what was it 104th time around? Dean lost count if you want to know the truth. But, this time it was different. He’d lost something more than he’d ever lost before. Not just a part of his soul like he’d done in hell the first time. No, now he’d lost it all. Conscience, soul, everything. There was only one thing that mattered… Killing.

Memories swam on his periphery like floundering goldfish. Oh he saw them… Cas, Sam and even Crowley who couldn’t even control him but, they meant… nothing. Dean knew they should. Especially Sam but, they didn’t. The haze that clouded his mind and many would say his judgement Dean believed only allowed him to see clearly.

Dean didn’t know that when that blade touched his hand he would lose himself but he did. He lost every last bit of Dean Winchester when he died that night and came back. Not that it was something that he’d change now.
