btw the "irrational attachment" line is one of my favorites in all of r&m because like. it's true that rick's attachment to morty is unhealthy; that much is obvious, but you mean to tell me rick thinks it would actually be healthier if he had zero attachment to morty to the point where he's able to physically harm him without any guilt? not only no "attachment," but no regard or care at all? how is that healthier than their current relationship? what kind of thoughts and desires are lurking in rick that, given the choice, he'd sever the rickandmorty bond entirely as a way to save morty from himself? how much do those thoughts and desires plague him, and how much does the guilt plague him, that he's able to hypothesize about the detoxifier and then immediately decide to test it out by slapping morty?
