Falling like stars from the highest heaven, weeping loud, screaming to the sun is a broken heart.

My own, wild and restless, in the winter’s shadow.

Silence echoed, lonely across the expanse, until with great fury, my heart began to sing.

Her voice was the searing ember, scorching each note into my veins, the column of my throat.

My angel from the ash, the light upon my meek soul.

I cannot write fables or speak in eloquent verse, but for you I would scream into the darkest waters, cursing each wave that crashes between us.

I envy the sun as she greets you in the morning, each gentle breeze that dances across your face.

I cannot sing like the angels, nor run with the tide, but for you I would brave the strongest sea. But until then, my heart will call across the distance, until the distance is no more.
