so anyway the most mind-numbing bs drama has been happening in the nail lacquer world the past like day and a half
#i kinda feel bad just reading abt it actually mostly bcus ppl are making wild accusations w little basis#lemme talk so i can get over the other thing okay#so awhile ago someone was asking abt how to get gently used nail polish to donate to a facility they worked for so patients could#paint their nails and a bunch of ppl offered their destashes to her and so she got like blue-flamey and decided she'd turn it into#a whole charity thing so for like the past year she set up a sub for it to document progress and all that#but a lot of the progress posting was swatching the dono'd polishes and renovating her hobby room where she was going to dedicate#space to the charity part (she and her family moved into an old school so it needed renos anyway but like....)#(excuse my digression but that just makes me think back to the wildest jabroni mike unreal estate abt a v crowded church-turned-home lol)#and she filed for 501-c3 status so she's a totally recognized charity and she also had indie brands donating swathes of polish#a co-owner of one of them was briefly on the board and the charity leader was always plugging a specific brand (conflict of interesssstt !!#and we come to NOW when charity leader makes a post asking ppl if they know any place in their local who would take polish donos and#so. everyone was like w h a t. weren't YOU supposed to be figuring that out? wasn't that the whole point of starting this to have a general#hub that could do this distribution? if WE knew why would we bother going through YOU ya know ??#AND it turns out after months of collecting donos she had only donated like 70 polishes + rando mani supplies to 3 facilities around her#TOTAL. she gave 30 to one and 20 to two other places in like a year of doing this#so now ppl are accusing her of enriching herself w lacquer pretties bcus she was always asking for donos even tho she started saying#she needed to make more room for all of it. BUT if you're supposed to be dono'ing then you shouldn't rly be carrying a hoard like#donos in / assessed / then out right? but she's just got boxes and boxes of lacquer#so anyway ppl think she's like. skimming off the top and keeping pretty ones for herself and also she received nice monetary donos too#but is always bemoaning shipping costs like. you can't figure out how to turn $2k+ into shipping labels? girl.#ppl think she might be using those donos for what is technically her home reno even tho she says it's a dedicated space but like. idk that'#a valid concern considering she doesn't rly know what she's doing#but anyway i feel bad bcus she's probably been reading all of the drama all day like i have except crying abt it and i wouldn't blame her#bcus i had a minor work fuck-up i need to fix over the weekend that isn't nearly this level of bad and i'm being strangled by my OCD abt it#so. i feel. thx for reading share ur thoughts below idk see you tmrw unless i miraculously die bye#*edit: it's a nonprofit not a charity sorry
