Makoto chuckled. “Well, I mean, I wouldn’t say no to gifts.”

Critias’ eyes widened. “Ah, what do you want? We’ll get you something!”

“I was mostly joking. Anyway, you don’t have to do it right this second, Critias. And something small is fine, I don’t know.”

Critias nodded. “Okay, well I remember some things you said you wanted, so I’ll pick one of those!”

Makoto’s eyebrows rose. “Huh? Like what?”

“S’a surprise! Can’t tell you now!”

“Don’t go overboard, seriously. I don’t want you buying me anything too expensive.”

“Eh.” Critias shrugged grinning as he grabbed his things to head to the door.

Bakura chuckled at the scene he just witnessed. They were such good friends, you could really tell. He pat Makoto’s shoulder as he grabbed his own things. “I’ll make sure it’s not too extravagant.” He spoke with a chuckle, meeting Critias at the door. He’d offer to carry Critias’ things but he was weak and he knew it. “Alright Kitten, we’re off then.”

Makoto chuckled. “Alright, fine. You both ready to go?”

Critias moved back over to where his bags sat, looking to Bakura. “I think so?”

“Yeah.” Bakura nodded, grabbing his bag as he looked between the two, settling on Makoto. “Thanks for taking us. I’ll have to make it up to you.”

When the doorbell rang, Critias popped up from the couch, excited. He didn’t expect Bakura’s action, though, and gave a little surprised yelp, turning back to him with a pout. “H-hey, no fair!” he sputtered, hurrying to answer the door before he could do anything else to distract him.

The blond answered the door, and upon seeing his best friend, smiled wide. “Makoto! Hi!” He pulled him into a hug before he could even speak.

With laughter in his voice, Makoto managed to speak, “It’s been like a week, Critias! But yeah, hi.”

Critias released him, giving a little huff. “Well yeah, but you still get a hug. Also I’m gonna be gone for like a month! I won’t be able to hug you during that time.”

Makoto’s eyebrows rose. “A month? Where are you going?”

“Dunno.” Critias shrugged. “Bakura wouldn’t tell me.”

“Mmhmm. Well, maybe he’ll tell me,” Makoto teased, walking past Critias.

“Ah, hey! No fair-!”

“Hey, Bakura. Where are you taking Critias this time?” Makoto asked with a grin, knowing it’d make Critias jealous if he knew first.

Bakura stood up as Makoto approached. He laughed. “Not this time, Makoto. It’s a secret. All I can say is that it’s somewhere we’ve never been yet.” He shrugged, glancing over to his husband and smiling.

His eyebrows rose. “Oh, yeah, that’s true! I’ll call him too!” he twittered, pulling out his phone again to type in his best friend’s number from memory. This call was shorter, and when he hung up, he smiled at Bakura. “N’kay, he’ll be here soon.”

Bakura nodded. He waited as Critias talked to his best friend. Once the mle hung up, Bakura nodded. “Alright. We wait then.” He hummed. 

The two took to watching t.v. until the doorbell rang and Critias stood. Bakura slapped his ass as he moved and grinned. “Go get that door then~”

Critias nodded. “N’kay, I’ll call Celandia then.”

The blond sat beside his husband on the couch, pulling his phone from his pocket to call his sister. Of course, she didn’t mind watching the house for him. Her apartment was nice, but she got to use the pool and play with the dog when she watched their house.

With that squared away, once the call ended, he put the phone back in his pocket. “Okay, we’re good! Celandia’s gonna watch the house!”

Bakura nodded, waiting for Critias to finish on the phone, he took to just resting his head on his shoulder and closing his eyes. He felt sleepy, but he always seemed to feel sleepy around this time, he did like those days when he slept in with Critias.

When Critias finished, the whitenette sat straight up. “Yeah? Now here’s something I didn’t think through. Do you think you can get Makoto to drive us to the airport?”

I was thinking which one of them would say “I love you” first…

His eyes widened. “N-no, s’okay! I needa get used to it anyway… I mean, s’mainly how we’re gonna be travelling now. I can’t avoid it forever.”

He looked up at the blond, putting his phone down.  “If you’re sure.” He spoke softly. “Like I said, i’ll make it up to you Kitten. We’ll be leaving as soon as we’ve got someone to watch the house.”

Critias stopped beside the couch when Bakura sat, blinking. “Huh? O-… Oh. We have to fly, huh?”

Bakura frowned but nodded. "Yes, unfortunately. I can see about arranging something else though." He spoke, pulling his phone out to see what he could figure out last minute.

As Bakura left the room, Critias followed, tailed by Layla. His husband’s words caused his eyes to widen. “Wh-… What? Really? Ah, I wanna ask more, but f’you wanna keep the details a secret… I think I’ll call Celandia first! I think she has a little more free time than Makoto. Plus, she can just stay here easier if she wants… Ah, m’rambling now!” he sputtered, lifting his hands to either side of his face.

He chuckled. "You'll learn soon enough sweetheart." He hummed softly. then shook his head. "You know I don't mind your ramblings." Bakura spoke, stopping once they reached the couch.

He let his bags sit by the couch as he sat down. "I know now that you're not going to enjoy the first part of our journey and I promise I will make it up to you during the rest of our trip."

“A-a little bit,” he twittered, his heart fluttering when he kissed him. “S’okay.” He watched Bakura pet Layla, and when he straighten up to talk to him again, Critias tilted his head. “I can, but what should I say? That kinda decides who m’calling, too.”

Bakura shrugged at Critias' question. "Well I don't want to give it away." He spoke, starting for the living room, making sure Critias was following him. "We'll just be going... Across the world for about 25 days.”

Critias had become somewhat accustomed to waking up with Bakura elsewhere. Bakura was an early bird in some ways, and Critias wasn’t in any way. However, Critias was not accustomed to waking up to a text from him telling him to pack enough stuff for a month-long trip. Bakura leaving it so vague almost made it seem ominous, but Critias trusted him, so he set to packing. After breakfast, of course.

Layla hung around the whole time he packed. She’d gotten used to the routine, and knew Critias was packing, it meant he wouldn’t be around for a while. Critias hated leaving his dog, but he always made sure she was watched after well. Those sad eyes would always make him guilty, though…

Once Critias decided he’d done a good enough job packing, he set off for Bakura’s office, as he’d told him to, Layla following behind him the whole time. The blond gently pushed the door open, but before he could say his name, Bakura spoke first.

“Ah, mmhmm. Is everything okay…?” he asked tentatively.

Bakura spun around in his chair, smiling at the male. "Of course. I guess I wasn't very forthcoming in my text. I just wanted to surprise you, I guess I made you worry, huh?" He asked, standing from his chair and grabbing the papers. He stepped over to his husband and leaned up, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "Sorry, Kitten" He apologized, before looking down at Layla. "Sorry to you as well, Layla. We'll be back soon." He pet the dogs head softly. "I'll bring you back some nice treats." He spoke, standing up straight again. "Shall you give Makoto a call again, or maybe your sister?"
