Gold Coast Tri - Luke Harrop Memorial will take place at the newly developed Broadwater Parklands on the Gold Coast. Join family, friends and work-mates and get involved in this great event! Event History - In 2002, one of Australia's most promising triathletes, Luke Harrop was tragically killed whilst on a training ride on the Gold Coast. SIPFEST
Sip some cinema at SIPfest, a night under the star of Surfers Paradise watching mini-movies from Australia's best emerging film making talent. The outdoor film festival debuted at the 2012 Surfers Paradise Festival with a program of premium short films and a panel of industry experts to divvy up gongs for Best Film, Runner-Up, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. Set in Neal Shannon Park by the ferris wheel atop the Bruce Bishop Carpark, SIPfest is scheduled as an after-dark addition to the One Way Street Party, which lights up adjacent Appel Street during the day with good bands and groovy vibes. SIPfest films cover any genre: thriller, comedy, animation, documentary, drama ... if it entertains an audience, it's in the mix.

ONE WAY STREET PARTY
Gold Coast hipsters vote with their feet for the One Way Street Party, a laneway-style art and music festival that snapshots the city's emerging cultural scene. At One Way, indie bands, live art projects and street markets ladened with one-off vintage fashions swirl against a canvas of back-street bitumen. Artists have their say in One Way's cultural projects; an eclectic mix of live art displays and interactive exhibits perfect for the budding or long term artist. A celebration of food, art, music and entertainment, the festival delights Surfers Paradise across four weekends of free community events. Bringing the carnival theme to Easter is the Australian Street Entertainment Championships. Held over the four day long weekend, clowns, mimes, jugglers and dancers will create a carnival of light and laughter at The High Street, Cavill Mall and The Foreshore.

Test your strength against a T-Rex jaw, uncover fossils and bones at a dig site and learn about how dinosaurs lived â from how fast they ran to how they digested their food. This is one exhibition youâll be roaring to sink your teeth into!
The Exhibition
This exhibition features animatronic versions of some of the worldâs most famous dinosaurs, including Muttaburrasaurus, one of the most complete dinosaur skeleton specimens ever found in Australia, and of course the carnivorous Tyrannosaurus rex, King of the Cretaceous Period. Uncover fossils and bones, compare the types of plants that dinosaurs ate, examine insects under microscopes, recreate the sounds of various dinosaurs and find out how they digested their food. Look through the eyes of different dinosaurs to learn how carnivores and herbivores saw the world differently.

If you feel like outdoor fun this Christmas, these events allow you to soak up the sunshine and beautiful green spaces of the City Botanic Gardens. Botanic Gardens Walking tours (Monday-Saturday; 11am & 1pm) Learn about the plants and history of the City Botanic Gardens during a guided walk. Walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour and are guided by a volunteer. Park orienteering November 17, 3 â 4pm A recreational activity and sport for all the family. Use your navigational skills and a specially produced map, to discover your local parks and outdoor recreational areas. All ages and fitness levels catered for. You can run, jog, walk, or have a leisurely stroll. You can complete individually or participate in a group. Tiny warriors 20 December, 9:30 â 10:30am This is a fun filled session for children. These activities are based on pre martial arts, co-ordination and self-control.
