If You Liked This Album⦠Read This Book
FromΒ Kiara Garrett:
In the spirit of #WeNeedDiverseBooks and working for a real live βWe Got Yallβ (word to KaTera for bringing this to my attention), I have decided to create a list of book recommendations. βIf you liked this album, read this bookβ. This list will be updated, but this is just where I started. #HappyReadingΒ
Check out the full list of albums and books at this link!Β
This is such a great idea! Iβve read a few of these books and these albums are definitely fitting.

How To Get A Job Fast As Hell
Β @owenabbottβΒ
Apply to a Β job, wait (1) day, then call. Β Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that youβre very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Sayβ thank you for your time, Iβll be looking forward to hearing back from you.β Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application.Β
Β When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly, Β tell them your first and last name. Β
Describe your experiences Β asΒ β two years transcription and data entryβ if you have a desk job interview andΒ β [however many years] Β costumer service, retail and stockβ for your retail jobs. Β
Donβt use jobΒ β buzz wordsβ I stg they hear them all day. Say Β things like,Β β Iβm detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.β Β β I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fitβ
When they ask you if you have βreliable transportationβ say Β YES. donβt tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you donβt do this, you wont get the job , Iβm telling you right now).Β
Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position youβre intending to apply for.
When they ask youΒ β give us a situation where you had to blah blah blahβ Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your companyβs needs slightly above the customerβs needs, but make the customer happy.Β
If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you βlike to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things rightβ (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)
Questions for after the interview:
1. Β Does this position offer upward mobility?
2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if youβre not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)
Β Then, shake their hand, Β Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it.Β
AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (Iβll give you them) that saysΒ βThank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great dayβ This shows Β that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when theyβre shuffling through the choices.Β
DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone. Β In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because youβre desperate.Β
