Sometimes I'm like "wow, I wonder why I've been having panic attacks a lot more in the past two weeks, that's super weird and out of the blue."
And then I realize my dad had been working over, and my mom has been having health problems since last October and can't regulate her stress/emotions and is yelling at the cat who doesn't know where he is half the time. The stress of my environment has tripled in the last month.
Wow, what ever could be causing all my panic?
It seems like every time I talk about how I'm writing a novel, the response I get is the same one an uninterested adult would give to a kid who wants to be an astronaut.
Like "yeah, okay, cool."
Like, you don't understand. This isn't just a pipe dream anymore. I am putting in the work. I am going to do this. I am not a child who thinks her writing is way better than it is.
Friendly reminder (that I need to hear too) that your writing, your art, doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
In fact, it's better when it looks like yours.
Going to reblog this every time I see an excerpt from ACOTAR and feel bad that my writing isn't as flowery.
I need to stop seeing other writers as competition and see them as community instead.
i think it is also helpful to see writing you admire as something you can learn from. if you admire a passage from another book a lot, do studies of it, figure out what it is that you admire (certain word choices, techniques, unique syntax, etc) and see if it's worth incorporating into your own writing

ALSO!
I've officially reached 50,000+ words and 100+ pages.
Did I just find the /perfect/ opportunity to "kill my baby" in a way that's both emotionally gutting and satisfactory to the character?
I think so.
Would I actually be able to follow through with it?
...
Probably not.
I dont know how to keep going like this.
My silence should be screaming.
Something has to give.
Not so friendly reminder, the "solution" to social anxiety is NOT "just go out and make some friends!"
And repeatedly sharing this sentiment or suggesting opportunities to do so is not helpful. It actually makes us feel much worse.
If you don't have social anxiety, if you don't understand what it's like to crave connection and friendships so deeply but also be terrified beyond belief of any sort of human interaction, kindly shut the hell up.
I forget how much panic disorder sucks until I go through a week where it's bad again, and then I'm struggling to breathe every day or sedated because I have to take medicine to make that stop.
Good stuff. Love when my body can't tell the difference between being chased by a bear and just... sitting at home.

Okay, but like... writing a cliche is not the end of the world, and it doesn't make you a bad writer.
If it's cliche after cliche after cliche, yeah, sure, maybe that's something to work on.
But a cliche here and there doesn't make you a bad writer, and it's not a reason to completely disregard someone's work.
Yeah, okay.
Again.
If you are making jokes about fat people, you are fatphobic. I don't care if you claim to love them, if you have fat friends, if you're nice to them in public. If you're making jokes that demean, degrade, and belittle fat people, you are fatphobic and a dick.
Grow the f up.
I just want people to love you as much as I do. And I'm so scared it's just... not going to happen that way.
I have once again succumb to my one weakness.
Eating too much pasta.
I will learn nothing from this experience, and do it again next time.

I feel like I'm emotionally bleeding.
Just an open wound in my chest, flowing red.
And I'm just sitting here like it's normal. Like it's okay. Because I don't know how to heal this.
I've gotten so much better, but it always comes back to this. Despair. The feeling of crying without a tear.
Just bleeding and bleeding and bleeding.
The problem is I have the deepest desire to be someone's person. And not being that feels like I'm being gutted from the inside out.
