Hey! I am new to the Gambit love (thank marvel rivals, he is my guy 💜) and you seem to be an expert. Are there any comics/shows I should read/watch to get to know his character more? I literally only know him from the game and the Deadpool/wolverine movie.

I strongly recommend watching TAS, and even the Evolution episodes Gambit was in (he wasn’t in it much, but he was a scene-stealer.)

Regarding the comics, you should start from the beginning. There are some suggestions here for starters:

There's something I feel conflicted about with Romy's fans: how can they not realize that Gambit wanted Rogue to fall in love with him simply to pass the time? It was just to have fun; he's charming (and I don't mean that in a negative way). And I definitely agree with the Professor's thought in the X-Men 1991 #17 panel: he didn't want to commit, but he did want her to fall in love. Of course, he didn't expect to fall in love himself later. What do you think about this? Many Romy fans will deny it and say the Professor was wrong.

I definitely agree. I'd say not exactly to pass the time, but because it would be fun to make the girl who can't touch anyone fall in love with him, like a challenge, like a game. And it backfired when he ended up falling in love with her in the process.

It's these kinds of nuances and flaws that make Gambit such a compelling character. They allowed for redemption and genuine character growth later on—not the lovestruck idiot he is now.

What do you think about those Gambit comics that were announced? Gambit Wanted and Gambit Gone? Are you excited about them?

Looking forward to Gambit Wanted. I didn’t love the previous mini, but I did like it. This one looks more promising. As to Gambit Gone, it’s hard to care. There’s gonna be two Gambits, but if XoA and Uncanny are any indication, it’s gonna be about Rogue 🙁
