“What? Sven’s a cutie,” she spoke, laughing at her own words. Teasing Kristoff was just too much fun. It was something she loved about their relationship — that they could joke and banter at the same time they were cuddled together, fingers intertwined. She wouldn’t trade it for the world.

“Joking aside, though, there’s so much about you to like. “You’re just… YOU. And YOU’RE exactly what I need. And I love you.”

A smirk resting on his lips as he shook his head, crossing his arms over his chest. “Exactly, that’s why you should be on her team. I mean you guys raised me as a team and I turned out pretty great.” Charades was probably one of his favorite games, but his mother’s skills did not extend to being great at charades. “But how else is she supposed to get better?” 

          “𝐧𝐨, 𝐧𝐨, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬…” she paused as she shook her head slightly, wanting a second to collect her thoughts so she could continue appropriately. this could be something of a delicate situation, wanting to keep from offending him (since this did seem to be like an offer for a date, and that was not something she wanted to mess up), and also not wanting him to feel obligated to buy her meal, or do anything at all for her, really. it was sweet, though, that he was offering and was doing so earnestly. “𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮,” anna concluded, giving a warm, appreciative smile, nodding in a way that (hopefully) communicated that, yes, it would be okay if he did that. she cleared her throat, still feeling a little jittery, butterflies in her stomach still quite active. hoping her cheeks weren’t as pink as they felt, she clasped her hands behind her back, fiddling with her fingers a bit. “𝐢, 𝐮𝐦 … 𝐢 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞?” she asked in offering, jerking a thumb casually towards the front door. “𝐢 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐮𝐩, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 … 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢’𝐦 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞.”

          “𝐨𝐡, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞.” anna shook her head immediately, dismissing the notion of compulsory gratitude with a wave of her hand. “𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞. 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 ‘𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮,’” she clarified simply, shrugging once, keeping up a cheery smile. “𝐢 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧           𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞,” she clarified quickly, not wanting him to think she was dismissing such a thought proposition altogether. “𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐲’𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐦𝐞, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐢 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧. 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 … 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞. 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 … 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐩, 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭?”

She snuggled in closer to him as he pressed his lips to her forehead. It wasn’t even about her stomachache anymore — just about being close to him. She felt safe in his arms, like nothing could ever hurt her again. He would likely never realize how thankful she was for the stability he provided.

“No,” she smirked, teasing back. “The only reason I kept you is because I like your tummy rubs. AND because you’re cute. AND you have a reindeer, which is pretty darn cool.”

          𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐟𝐟. while many of her students in the small town lived a life that would typically be considered more traditional, she knew that that wasn’t always true. at least for the last three years of her adolescence, she’d been raised less traditionally, having been cared for by her grandmother rather than by her parents; she understood how difficult it could be to navigate such a situation. she also understood why kristoff would be a bit self-conscious, why he would feel badly about the extra time anna was spending waiting with sven, but she didn’t and would never fault him for it. “well, you’re great with him,” she assured him, smiling sincerely. “he talks about you all the time. i’ve heard so much about how his dad is the coolest person in the world.”

Her words made him smile. Though, he wasn’t sure if she was just being kind, if she was just trying to calm him a little down. But for some reason, he believed her. And he knew his son too well. Something like that would come out of his mouth. And then, he found Spider-Man cool, and chocolate bars and dogs who could walk on two feet. So what did cool really mean? “Thank you.” was everything he brought out with a simple smile. And he was thankful to hear something like that. 

          𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚’𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐨𝐛𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐞’𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡. too bashful to hold his gaze for too long, she dropped her eyes to the stable floor with a sheepish little chuckle, shifting her weight from her toes to her heels and back again. “𝐨𝐡, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞. 𝐢’𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝.” it was funny, how even when they had a little disagreement, anna could never seem to stay upset with him too long, at least not to the point where she wouldn’t want him around even for a short time. she’d miss him too much, even if she’d need a second to cool off to get to that point. the kiss to her cheek brought her eyes up again, looking to him with a hopeful little smile, eyebrows raised just slightly. “𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭? 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞?”

Oh well, great. She secretly was thinking he was doing a bad job. Not that she would ever say that out loud, no Anna was a way too kind for that. But it was hard for him. Ever since Sven’s mother had decided to leave him as a baby in front of his door. Not that he could remember her. It was a hookup, a one night stand. Something that seemed like he needed it after his previous break-up. And here he was now, being a parent and doing the worst job at it. “I’m trying to cover my main job, trying to get a second so Sven can have the life he deserves.” he explained to her. Not that she would probably ask for it. “He’s a good boy and I’m very happy to have him. But he also spins my world upside down. And there’s always a mess when we leave a place.” this time, he was laughing a bit.
