But when I re-watched the show as an educated and certified coach I saw she made a terrible mistake.

Dwayne humiliated her. He told her he didn’t want to marry her “after they got engaged” and told her after years of dating and sex “ things were moving to fast”

The truth? Dwayne was out of his league and wasn’t ready to be a provider!

They break up and call of the engagement because Dwayne tells her things are moving too fast.

Then when he comes over to her place to get stuff after a breakup they have sex.

Whitely tries to touch base after and he was cold. Telling her he know where things stand. He didn’t want her. He made it clear. He even said “we didn’t have problems in the bedroom, it was the other rooms”. The relationship was toxic.

He was fine staying with her cock blocking her but when she pushed for marriage and a future he found flaws. This is common for men when they are not ready for marriage and when they think they are the prize. Big mistake.

Then she goes to work on a campaign for a future senator. He sees her hard working, he sees her intellect, her sees her ability to talk to the press and he’s wowed by the woman she is.

Dwayne knowing he’s wants nothing to do with Whitney tells Byron ( the senator) that they slept together ( acting like he knew) hoping to cock block Whitely. Byron is so inlove he doesn’t care and manages to move past it.

After he wins and becomes a senator — Byron who never even is shown sleeping with Whitley asks to marry her. He sees the value in Whitney and realizes she’s a cacth right away.

Dwayne has plenty of time to reconsider. Plenty.

But he doesn’t.

He waits until the wedding day when she’s literally standing at the altar in a big and beautiful weddings to tell her to be his. Toxic. Very toxic. Of course whitely leaves him and goes off with Dwayne.

I use to love this.

But as a certified coach I now see that there is a lot wrong and he only wanted her back when he knew someone better, more serious and more stable came along.

He knew he would never do better than Whitley and didn’t want to lose her to the better man. Byron was the better man.

Ladies this is a show — but that’s a good example of why we need coaching. We are very beautiful and very emotional creatures.

We are blessed to have empathy and compassion— but it’s hard to use comprehension and logic. It took me decades to see she should of never married Dwayne Wade.

Even when they got married he struggled to support her and had no real steady job.

Eventually he found a job in JAPAN and moved her away from all her friends and family to the other side of the world— WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT. Imagine being a foreign country that far away from your family as a new and expectant move. Whew 😰

We as blk women have been groomed to want less and expect less.

It was very clear that her character was way into him than she was to her.
